The Reds activated Greene (groin) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

In a corresponding move, the Reds optioned Sam Benschoter to Triple-A Louisville. Greene hasn't pitched since June 3 due to a strained groin but will return for the finale against the Phillies. He's also dealt with back issues this season, making a total of 11 starts and registering a 2.72 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 73:14 K:BB across 59.2 innings. He went 5.1 innings and threw 79 pitches in his latest rehab start last Friday.

Flores went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Tuesday's 5-1 loss to the Padres.

Flores drove in the Giants' lone run on an RBI single in the first inning. The 34-year-old added another single in the sixth, marking his second multi-hit performance in four games this month. After missing six matchups due to left hamstring tightness, Flores returned to action in Saturday's loss to the Nationals. In three games since his return, he's batting .250 with two RBI across nine plate appearances.

Adames went 0-for-4 in Tuesday's 5-1 loss to the Padres.

Adames went hitless for a fourth consecutive game, marking his longest streak without a hit since early June. The 29-year-old shortstop has struggled in August, slashing .111/.184/.244 with five runs scored, four RBI and two home runs across 49 plate appearances. Overall, he's now slashing .225/.311/.396 with 69 runs scored, 61 RBI, 18 home runs and four stolen bases over 508 plate appearances.

Gurriel is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

It's a routine day off for the 31-year-old left fielder, who has been slumping at the plate of late, slashing .167/.158/.278 with one double, three RBI, one stolen base and a 1:5 BB:K over the last seven days. Jake McCarthy is starting in left field and batting sixth against former teammate Merrill Kelly.

Riley (abdomen) likely won't need a rehab assignment before rejoining Atlanta's lineup, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Manager Brian Snitker wouldn't offer a guess as to when the third baseman might be activated from the IL, but Riley's not expected to be too far behind Ronald Acuna (calf), who should rejoin the lineup before the end of the week. Riley has been sidelined since Aug. 2 after aggravating an abdominal strain that had previously cost him eight games sandwiched around the All-Star break. It's been a disappointing season overall for the 28-year-old, whose .737 OPS would be his lowest mark since he became a full-time player in 2021.

Acuna (calf) went through a full workout before Tuesday's game that included acceleration/deceleration drills, and Atlanta manager Brian Snitker indicated that the outfielder likely won't need a rehab assignment before being activated from the injured list, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Snitker ruled out Wednesday as a potential activation date for Acuna, but Acuna appears on track to rejoin the roster before the end of the week. The 27-year-old has been sidelined since July 29 with a calf strain, and over 55 games this season, Acuna is slashing .306/.429/.577 with 14 homers, four steals, 26 RBI and 48 runs.

Goodman is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.

With a day game after a night game, Goodman will sit after he went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday night's win. Braxton Fulford will catch for Austin Gomber and bat eighth.

The Mets are expected to call up McLean from Triple-A Syracuse to start Saturday's game against the Mariners, Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports.

With manager Carlos Mendoza permanently moving Frankie Montas to the bullpen, the Mets will need to break in a new fifth starter this weekend. Though veteran righty Paul Blackburn (shoulder) has been building up a starter during his rehab assignment and looks ready to come off the 15-day injured list, the Mets instead appear inclined to give the 24-year-old McLean his first look in the big leagues. The right-hander has made 21 appearances (18 starts) between Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A this season, registering a 2.45 ERA and 1.13 WHIP while racking up 127 punchouts over 113.2 innings. The Mets could get Tylor Megill (elbow) back from the injured list by the end of the month to challenge him for a rotation spot, but if McLean impresses in his initial taste of the majors, he could end up holding down a starting role for the rest of the season.

Junk came away with a no-decision Tuesday against the Guardians, giving up three runs on six hits over five innings as the Marlins lost 4-3. He struck out two without walking a batter.

Four of the six hits off Junk went for extra bases, including back-to-back solo shots by Jose Ramirez and Kyle Manzardo in the first inning. The right-hander was taken off the hook for his seventh loss of the season when Miami was able to tie the game at 3-3 in the fifth frame. Junk hasn't recorded an out in the sixth inning since the All-Star break, working exactly five innings in each of his last five starts while stumbling to a 6.84 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 14:4 K:BB. He could get bumped aside by top prospect Robby Snelling at some point, but for the moment Junk lines up to make his next start on the road this weekend in Boston.

Contreras (foot) is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Rockies.

Contreras was removed from Tuesday's game after being hit in the right foot by a pitch, so it's not a surprise he's sitting out Wednesday's matinee. The Cardinals are idle Thursday, and Contreras could be back in there for Friday's game against the Yankees. Alec Burleson is at first base for St. Louis on Wednesday.
