The Nationals optioned Loutos to Triple-A Rochester on Sunday.

The right-hander has an 11.32 ERA across 10.1 innings between the Dodgers and Nationals this season, which includes the two runs he allowed over three innings while pitching in the past two games for Washington. Loutos was demoted to free up roster space for Shinnosuke Ogasawara, who is starting Sunday against the Red Sox.

Betts went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a double in a loss to Houston on Saturday.

Betts supplied two of the Dodgers' three extra-base hits in the loss, tagging Framber Valdez for a first-inning solo homer and adding a double in the seventh. The veteran superstar made a baserunning blunder on the two-bagger, as he was thrown out trying to stretch the hit to a triple with no outs in the inning, but the positive takeaway is that Betts seems to be regaining his power stroke -- following a 20-game stretch without a long ball, he's gone deep in two of his past three games. Betts is at 11 home runs on the campaign, so he's still a long way away from reaching the career-high mark of 39 that he set two seasons ago.

The Nationals selected Ogasawara's contract from Triple-A Rochester in advance of his start Sunday against the Red Sox in Washington.

The Japanese left-hander has been called up for his MLB debut after missing most of the first three months of the season due to an oblique injury. Ogasawara has a 4.80 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 12:4 K:BB in 15 innings over his three starts for Rochester this season. The 27-year-old inked a two-year, $3.5 million contract with the Nationals in January after spending the first nine seasons of his career in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball, where had had a 3.67 ERA and 7.1 K/9 in 190 games with the Chunichi Dragons.

The Brewers optioned Patrick to Triple-A Nashville on Sunday.

The right-hander took a no-decision in Saturday's 4-2 loss to Miami after giving up two runs over five innings, and he'll be the odd man out of Milwaukee's rotation with Brandon Woodruff (elbow/ankle/shoulder) returning from the 60-day injured list to start Sunday's series finale. Patrick has been a quality rotation piece for the Brewers in his first 19 big-league outings this season with a 3.52 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 95:30 K:BB across 94.2 innings, but Milwaukee doesn't need six starters while heading into the final week before the All-Star break. Patrick is likely to receive another look in the Brewers rotation at some point during the second half, but for now, he'll head to Nashville for the first time in 2025.

Wisely went 2-for-4 with a two-RBI double in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Athletics.

Wisely lined a two-run double to right field in the sixth inning, giving the Giants a 7-1 lead. He added a single in the eighth, delivering his second multi-hit performance through four appearances in July. During that span, he's batting .385 with four RBI, two runs scored, two doubles and one home run across 13 plate appearances.

Chapman went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and a hit-by-pitch in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Athletics.

Chapman returned to game action after being placed on the 10-day injured list June 10 due to a sprained right hand. The veteran third baseman was plunked in the first inning before coming around to score. He singled in the third, leading to another run. Chapman is slashing .245/.365/.451 with 37 runs scored, 30 RBI, 12 home runs and seven stolen bases across 277 plate appearances this season.

Woodruff (elbow/ankle/shoulder) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list to start Sunday against the Marlins.

Woodruff will make his first MLB appearance since Sept. 23, 2023 now that he's made a full recovery from shoulder surgery along with minor ankle and elbow injuries suffered during his minor-league rehab assignments. The 32-year-old has pitched in 10 minor-league games this season across multiple assignments, and he threw 82 pitches across 3.2 frames in his final rehab outing with Triple-A Nashville last weekend. The Brewers are likely to be cautious with Woodruff given the long layoff, but he shouldn't be facing significant workload limitations.

Atlanta optioned Dodd to Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday.

After Spencer Schwellenbach (elbow) landed on the injured list earlier this week, Atlanta went with a bullpen day in Saturday's 9-6 loss to the Orioles when his turn in the rotation came up. Aaron Bummer recorded Atlanta's first seven outs before Dodd entered and allowed two earned runs on two hits over 2.2 innings. Since Dodd tossed 39 pitches Saturday and was unlikely to be available out of the bullpen for another day or two, Atlanta opted to swap him off the 26-man roster for a fresh bullpen arm in Jesse Chavez, who was called up from Triple-A.

Chavez will regain a spot on Atlanta's 40-man roster for the third time this season, as he had previously elected free agency and re-signed with the organization on minor-league deals after being designated for assignment on two occasions in April. Since signing his latest contract May 1, the 41-year-old righty has pitched well for Gwinnett, logging a 2.22 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 24:12 K:BB in 24.1 innings. He'll likely fill a low-leverage role for Atlanta.

Quantrill didn't factor in the decision Saturday against the Brewers after allowing two runs on six hits and one walk over 3.2 innings. He struck out six.

The right-hander needed 71 pitches to record just 11 outs and remains without a victory in his past eight outings. Quantrill hasn't pitched horribly during that stretch with a 4.29 ERA and 1.32 WHIP, but he's lasted long enough to qualify for the win in just half of those games. Through 17 starts this season, he has a 5.40 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 62:23 K:BB across 76.2 innings.
