Milias went 1-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored in Wednesday's win over the Red Sox.

The 28-year-old remains firmly behind Keibert Ruiz on the catcher depth chart for the Nats, but Milias has been making a contribution of late while starting a couple times a week. Over his last five games dating back to June 16, the 28-year-old has gone 5-for-18 (.278) with a double, an RBI, three runs and a .381 OBP.

Goodman is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest against the Marlins.

It's a well-earned day off for Goodman, who had started each of the previous nine games. Brett Sullivan will do the catching and bat eighth for the Rockies.

Nunez went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Wednesday's rout of the Red Sox.

The light-hitting infielder lofted a Payton Tolle fastball over the Green Monster in the fourth inning for his first homer of the season, and the fifth of his career in his 172nd MLB game. Nunez is still looking to escape the slump he got mired in late in June, and over his last nine contests he's batting just .160 (4-for-25) with 14 strikeouts.

Young went 2-for-3 with two walks, two doubles, a run scored and an RBI in Wednesday's win over the Red Sox.

The center fielder produced his first multi-hit performance since June 14, snapping a 4-for-36 (.111) slump over his prior 12 games. Young remains inconsistent at the plate, but he's flashing more power than ever before, slashing .225/.275/.376 in 277 plate appearances this season with a career-high eight homers along with eight steals, 31 RBI and 33 runs.

Marquez (forearm) recorded two outs and allowed three earned runs on three hits and one walk during his rehab appearance Tuesday with Triple-A El Paso.

Marquez kicked off his rehab assignment June 2 and started in each of his first four appearances for El Paso, maxing out at five innings and 73 pitches. While his usage seemed to indicate that the Padres were considering Marquez for a spot in the rotation upon his return from the 15-day injured list, the veteran righty now appears to be preparing for a bullpen role. He's worked in relief in his last two outings for El Paso, striking out three while allowing four runs on six hits and three walks in 2.1 innings between those contests. Marquez's 30-day rehab window officially came to a close Wednesday, so the Padres could look to activate him at some point during their upcoming four-game series with the Dodgers.

The Mets selected Yan's contract and then optioned him to Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday.

Yan likely had an opt-out clause in his minor-league contract, and the Mets will add him to the 40-man roster to prevent him from leaving. The lefty reliever has struck out a whopping 63 batters over 33.1 innings between Double-A Binghamton and Syracuse in 2026, though he's also issued 24 walks. Yan has never pitched in the majors.

Lindor went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Blue Jays.

The star shortstop has just four hits in 23 at-bats (.174) over six games since coming off the IL, but three of those knocks have gone for extra bases, including Lindor's ninth-inning shot off Patrick Corbin on Wednesday. Lindor's still trying to find his timing at the plate after missing two months due to a calf strain, but two long balls in the last three contests in an encouraging sign.

Walker allowed four earned runs on four hits while failing to record an out in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Diamondbacks.

Walker entered in the eighth inning and gave up three singles and a double before being pulled. The right-hander has surrendered six runs over 1.2 innings in his last three appearances, totaling 42 pitches during that span. He now owns a 7.06 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and 18:12 K:BB across 21.2 innings in 24 outings this season.

Payne has posted a 3.93 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 95:22 K:BB over 68.2 innings this season between Single-A Jupiter and High-A Beloit.

An 18th-round pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft out of a Pennsylvania high school, Payne gave up an offer from George Mason to start his pro career early, per Christina De Nicola of MLB.com, and the decision seems to be paying off. While the 20-year-old southpaw sits in the low 90s with his fastball, his velocity has crept up since he was drafted and the pitch comes with significant ride that allows him to work up in the zone. He then turns to a potentially plus curveball and slider for his whiffs. Payne likely still profiles as a back-of-the-rotation option in the majors at best unless he can add more juice to his fastball and improve his changeup, but his development so far has been impressive.

Assad is slated to start Sunday's game against the Cardinals at Wrigley Field, Jared Wyllys of AllCHGO.com reports.

After pitching 2.2 innings of long relief behind Matthew Boyd in his most recent appearance during Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Padres, Assad will slot back into the rotation weekend. While Assad has rolled to a 3-0 record, 2.70 ERA and 0.96 WHIP over his last three starts, the Cubs' willingness to use him in relief earlier this week could indicate that he's the pitcher most likely to move to the bullpen once the banged-up Chicago rotation gets some further reinforcement. Among the Cubs' injured starters, Jameson Taillon (hamstring) is the closest to returning and is set to make a rehab start Sunday, but it's unclear if he'll be ready to return from the 15-day injured list during the final week before the All-Star break.
