  • Sandy Leon C | ATL

Braves' Sandy Leon: On bench Sunday

Leon is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.

After starting Saturday's 5-2 win and going 0-for-2 with a strikeout, Leon will hit the bench for the series finale. The veteran backstop has settled into a timeshare with Chadwick Tromp, and as both are valued mainly for their defensive abilities, neither offers much fantasy value while Atlanta covers for the absence of Drake Baldwin (oblique).

  • Brewers' Carlos Rodriguez: Returns to Triple-A

The Brewers optioned Rodriguez to Triple-A Nashville on Sunday.

The 24-year-old spent the past week in the majors but will return to Triple-A after making two appearances and giving up three runs on five hits and a 3:4 K:BB over 5.1 innings. Rodriguez could return to the rotation at Nashville, where he has an 8.03 ERA through eight appearances (five starts) this year.

  • Rob Zastryzny RP | MIL

Brewers' Rob Zastryzny: Comes off IL

The Brewers reinstated Zastrzyny (shoulder/ribs) from the 60-day injured list Sunday.

After spending the first couple months of the season on the shelf due to shoulder and intercostal strains, Zastryzny is ready to join the Brewers after six scoreless rehab appearances. The left-hander covered a career-high 22 frames in the majors last year and had a 2.45 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 20:10 K:BB.

  • Jonah Cox CF | SF

Giants' Jonah Cox: Bypassing Triple-A for majors

The Giants selected Cox's contract from Double-A Richmond on Sunday.

The 24-year-old outfielder will skip over Triple-A and head to the majors after producing a monstrous .400/.453/.644 with six home runs and 27 stolen bases across 183 plate appearances in the Eastern League, though Cox's production comes with the caveat that he was older than most of his peers at Double-A. The right-handed hitter isn't in the lineup Sunday while the Giants face off against Colorado righty Tanner Gordon, so Cox could be in line for a short-side platoon role to begin his MLB career.

  • Jared Oliva CF | NYM

Giants' Jared Oliva: Begins rehab assignment

Oliva (wrist) started at designated hitter and went 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, a double, an RBI and a run scored in Triple-A Sacramento's 6-4 loss to Reno on Saturday.

Oliva underwent surgery in mid-April to address a left hamate bone fracture and began his rehab assignment with the Rivers Cats on Saturday. The 30-year-old doubled in the third inning, hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth and singled in the seventh before stealing two bases and scoring. The outfielder will be eligible to return to the big-league roster in mid-June.

  • Joshua White RP | MIA

Marlins' Josh White: Ready for MLB debut

The Marlins recalled White from Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday.

White had been one of the top relievers at Jacksonville this season, accruing a 1.24 ERA and 1.00 WHIP while striking out 30 batters over 29 innings. Consistently finding the strike zone has been an issue for the right-hander throughout his minor-league career, however, and after posting a 14.3 percent walk rate this season, White may not be asked to handle a high-leverage role. The Marlins will be treating Sunday's series finale against the Mets as a bullpen game, so White could be called upon to cover an inning or two in relief following opener John King.

  • Ryan O'Hearn RF | PIT

Pirates' Ryan O'Hearn: Activated from injured list

The Pirates reinstated O'Hearn (quadriceps) from the 10-day injured list Sunday, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

O'Hearn has been on the shelf the past couple weeks due to a quad strain but is ready to rejoin Pittsburgh's active roster without the need of a minor-league rehab assignment. The 32-year-old had a strong start to the campaign prior to the injury with seven homers, 29 RBI, 27 runs and an .827 OPS through 44 contests. Konnor Griffin (forearm) was moved to the IL in a corresponding move.

  • Konnor Griffin SS | PIT

Pirates' Konnor Griffin: Shelved with strained elbow

The Pirates placed Griffin on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a flexor strain in his right elbow.

It's unclear exactly how long the 20-year-old has been dealing with the injury, but general manager Ben Cherington indicated that Griffin will likely be in line for a "short-term stay" on the IL, per Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Ryan O'Hearn (quadriceps) was reinstated from the 10-day IL in a corresponding move.

  • Janson Junk SP | MIA

Marlins' Janson Junk: Winds up on 15-day IL

The Marlins placed Junk on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to right shin bone inflammation, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Junk becomes the third Miami starting pitcher to hit the shelf in less than a month, joining Robby Snelling (elbow) and Eury Perez (hamstring). Junk is initially projected to miss 2-3 weeks due to the injury. As a result of the right-hander being scratched from his scheduled start Sunday against the Mets, the Marlins will have left-hander John King open the game in what will be a bullpen day.

  • Padres' Xander Bogaerts: Goes deep Saturday

Bogaerts went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk against Washington in a loss Saturday.

Bogaerts kicked off the scoring with a 417-foot solo shot to center field in the second inning. The long ball was his first since he went deep in back-to-back games May 5-6. The veteran infielder has struggled at the plate since those pair of contests, batting just .181 with only four RBI over 20 contests. However, he did swipe five bases during that span and is 9-for-9 on theft attempts this season.
