PJ Poulin RP | WAS
Nationals' PJ Poulin: Called up from Triple-A
The Nationals recalled Poulin from Triple-A Rochester on Sunday.
Poulin was demoted to Triple-A on Wednesday, but the Nationals were able to bring him back just four days later because Jake Irvin (shoulder) was moved to the injured list in a corresponding move. The 30-year-old will provide Washington with a fourth left-handed option in the bullpen behind Richard Lovelady, Mitchell Parker and Andrew Alvarez.

Jose Tena DH | WAS
Nationals' Jose Tena: Riding pine Sunday
Tena is out of the lineup for Sunday's game in Atlanta.
Tena will head to the bench for the second time in the series, this time against a left-handed starter (Martin Perez) after he wasn't part of the lineup in Friday's matchup with right-hander Bryce Elder. Curtis Mead will cover third base Sunday, but Tena will be primarily competing with Jorbit Vivas for playing time at the position versus right-handed pitching.

Drew Gilbert CF | SF
Giants' Drew Gilbert: Not starting against lefty
Gilbert is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.
The left-handed-hitting Gilbert will hit the bench with southpaw Noah Schultz on the hill for Chicago, paving the way for Victor Bericoto to pick up a start in right field. Gilbert had started in each of the Giants' last four games against right-handed pitching and should be able to hold down a strong-side platoon role in the outfield until either Jung Hoo Lee (back) or Heliot Ramos (quadriceps) returns from the injured list.

Bryce Eldridge DH | SF
Giants' Bryce Eldridge: On bench against southpaw
Eldridge is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.
Though he'll be head to the bench while lefty Noah Schultz takes the hill for Chicago, the left-handed-hitting Eldridge appears to be gaining traction in the San Francisco lineup against righties. Eldridge has started in each of the Giants' last three matchups versus right-handed starters or primary pitchers, going 3-for-11 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a run.

Jake Irvin SP | WAS
Nationals' Jake Irvin: Shelved with shoulder strain
The Nationals placed Irvin on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to a right shoulder strain.
Irvin suffered the injury during his start Saturday in Atlanta, but the right-hander indicated that an MRI didn't show anything overly concerning, adding that his diagnosis was the "best news we could have heard," per Mark Zuckerman of NatsJournal.com. Manager Blake Butera echoed those sentiments, telling Kyle Williams of TheBanner.com that he envisions a minimum stay on the shelf for the 29-year-old. After tossing five no-hit, scoreless innings before departing Saturday, Irvin lowered his ERA to 5.23 for the season.

Jordan Wicks SP | CHC
Cubs' Jordan Wicks: Summoned from Triple-A
The Cubs recalled Wicks from Triple-A Iowa on Sunday.
Wicks joins the big club with Edward Cabrera (finger) landing on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move, and the southpaw could move into the rotation the next time the Cubs need a fifth starter Tuesday in Pittsburgh. Wicks made all eight of his appearances with Chicago in 2025 as a reliever, but he's been deployed exclusively as a starter so far this season at Iowa and has accrued a 4.44 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 20:12 K:BB across 26.1 innings.

Brady Singer SP | CIN
Reds' Brady Singer: Reds-Cardinals postponed Sunday
Singer and the Reds won't face the Cardinals on Sunday after the game was postponed due to inclement weather in Cincinnati.
The two teams will make up the game as part of a split doubleheader Aug. 17. As a result of the postponement, the Reds plan to skip Singer's turn through the rotation, per C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic. Singer now lines up to make his next start during the Reds' home series versus Atlanta next weekend.

Brycen Mautz RP | STL
Cardinals' Brycen Mautz: Cardinals-Reds postponed Sunday
Mautz and the Cardinals won't face the Reds on Sunday after the game was postponed due to inclement weather.
The two teams will make up the game as part of a split doubleheader Aug. 17. After being promoted from Triple-A Memphis earlier Sunday, Mautz had been scheduled to start the series finale in Cincinnati. As a result of the postponement, the Cardinals no longer have a need for a temporary sixth starter, so Mautz could be optioned back to Memphis before making his MLB debut.

Dansby Swanson SS | CHC
Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Taking seat Sunday
Swanson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.
Nico Hoerner and Pedro Ramirez will serve as the Cubs' starters in the middle infield while Swanson retreats to the bench for the series finale. Swanson had started each of the Cubs' last six games, going 4-for-21 with one home run, one walk, two RBI and two additional runs during that stretch.

Ian Happ LF | CHC
Cubs' Ian Happ: Sitting for second straight day
Happ is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.
Happ will hit the bench for a second straight day in a move manager Craig Counsell is labeling a "mental breather," according to Jared Wyllys of AllCHGO.com. Counsell said that he plans to include Happ in the lineup Monday in Pittsburgh, though the 31-year-old could end up slotting lower in the batting order than usual after going just 1-for-24 with two walks and 14 strikeouts over his last six games.
