Carson Ragsdale P | ATL
Braves' Carson Ragsdale: Scrubbed from 40-man roster
Atlanta designated Ragsdale for assignment Monday.
The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Charlie Morton, who was signed Monday. Ragsdale was just claimed off waivers by Atlanta last week and will now go through the waivers process again.

Jhancarlos Lara SP | ATL
Braves' Jhancarlos Lara: Optioned to Triple-A
Atlanta optioned Lara to Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday.
Lara's contract was selected by Atlanta on Friday, but the 22-year-old right-hander didn't end up seeing any action during the three-game weekend series against Detroit. He'll return to Triple-A, where he has posted a 6.58 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 80:47 K:BB across 52 innings this season.

Josiah Gray SP | WAS
Nationals' Josiah Gray: Won't pitch for Nationals in 2025
Gray (elbow) has returned to the Nationals' spring training complex in Florida and will not pitch in the majors this season, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.
Gray made three rehab starts following July 2024 UCL surgery, tossing 5.2 scoreless innings with a 5:5 K:BB. The Nationals have decided that's enough for the right-hander, so Gray will begin his offseason work now rather than make a late-season return to the major-league club. Gray has a good chance to open the 2026 campaign in the Nationals' rotation, though he'll likely have workload restrictions in place after totaling just 29.1 innings over the last two seasons.

Charlie Morton SP | ATL
Braves' Charlie Morton: Returning to Atlanta
Atlanta signed Morton to a one-year contract Monday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
Morton is expected to officially report to the team Tuesday, and manager Brian Snitker said he's unsure whether the veteran right-hander will make a start this week. The 41-year-old has not announced whether he intends to call it a career after this season, but if he does it would allow him to retire as a member of the organization that drafted him and where he spent five major-league seasons. Morton holds a 5.89 ERA and 148:71 K:BB over 140.2 innings between the Orioles and Tigers in 2025.

Adam Mazur P | MIA
Marlins' Adam Mazur: Sent back to Triple-A
The Marlins optioned Mazur from Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday.
Mazur will give up his spot on the 28-man active roster and in the rotation to Edward Cabrera (elbow), who is slated to start Tuesday's game against the Phillies after being reinstated from the 15-day injured list. After being recalled from Jacksonville on Aug. 28, Mazur went 0-3 with a 4.44 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 14:8 K:BB in 24.1 innings across five starts.

Griffin Conine RF | MIA
Marlins' Griffin Conine: Returns from 60-day IL
The Marlins activated Conine (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list Monday.
Conine underwent surgery back in late April to repair a dislocated left shoulder, but he's managed to work his way back to participate in the final week of the regular season. The 28-year-old looked sharp during a nine-game rehab stint with Triple-A Jacksonville, slashing .292/.514/.583 with two home runs and an 11:9 BB:K. The left-handed-hitting Conine should see some playing time versus righties in the final week, though the Marlins are tentatively scheduled to face four lefties in their six games.
-
Joey Wiemer RF | WAS
Marlins' Joey Wiemer: Loses spot on active roster
The Marlins optioned Wiemer to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday.
Wiemer will give up his spot on the 28-man active roster to outfielder Griffin Conine (shoulder), who was reinstated from the 60-day injured list. After being recalled from Jacksonville on Aug. 17, Wiemer was used primarily as a short-side platoon outfielder and late-inning defensive replacement. He produced a .250/.293/.462 slash line with three home runs, 12 RBI and seven runs over 58 plate appearances.
-
Derek Hill RF | CHW
Marlins' Derek Hill: Activated and DFA'd
The Marlins activated Hill (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Monday and designated him for assignment.
Though Hill is considered fully recovered from his right hamstring strain after he completed a three-game rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville last week, the Marlins don't have room for him on the big-league roster heading into the final week of the season. He'll give up his spot on the 40-man roster to fellow outfielder Griffin Conine (shoulder), who was reinstated from the 60-day IL. Unless he catches on with another organization in the coming days, Hill will finish the 2025 season with a .213/.275/.331 slash line to go with three home runs, seven steals, 10 RBI and 19 runs over 141 plate appearances in the majors.
-
Edward Cabrera SP | CHC
Marlins' Edward Cabrera: Activated ahead of Tuesday's start
The Marlins activated Cabrera (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Monday.
Cabrera has missed the entirety of September with a right elbow sprain but has been cleared to return after throwing 50 pitches in a simulated game last week. He will draw the start Tuesday in Philadelphia but should be fairly limited from a workload perspective. Cabrera tentatively lines up for a second start this week Sunday against the Mets.

Luis Garcia 1B | WAS
Nationals' Luis Garcia: Idle against southpaw
Garcia is out of the lineup for Monday's game in Atlanta, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.
The left-handed-hitting Garcia will hit the bench for the third game in a row, with the Nationals having faced two lefties and one righty during that stretch. Paul DeJong will get the nod at second base Monday in Garcia's stead.
