The Dodgers announced Thursday that Kershaw will retire after the conclusion of the 2025 season.

Kershaw has two more regular-season starts and should pitch in the postseason in some capacity, but after that he will call it a career. The 37-year-old has pitched well in his 18th and final campaign, posting a 3.53 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 71:30 K:BB over 102 innings covering 20 starts. He's won 222 games and his career 2.54 ERA leads all active pitchers. Kershaw has won three National League Cy Young awards, one NL MVP and has made 11 All-Star teams in what will undoubtedly result in enshrinement in the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Marte isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Cubs.

The Reds will give Marte a chance to catch his breath Thursday after he went 6-for-22 with a homer during his last five games. Will Benson will fill the void in right field while batting fifth.

Hayes isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cubs.

Hayes will get a second straight day to rest after going 0-for-13 in his last four games. Sal Stewart will get the nod at third base instead, opening up first base for Spencer Steer.

Koss went 1-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 5-1 extra-innings win over the Diamondbacks.

Koss lined a two-run double to center field in the 11th inning before coming around to score San Francisco's final run. The reserve infielder has appeared in just six games this month, during which he's batting .286 with four RBI, four runs scored and two doubles in 14 plate appearances. Overall, he's slashing .258/.298/.365 with 22 RBI, 21 runs scored, three home runs and three stolen bases across 174 plate appearances in 69 outings this season.

Devers went 1-for-5 with an RBI in Wednesday's 5-1 extra-innings win over the Diamondbacks.

Devers singled in the 11th inning, driving in the Giants' final run. The 28-year-old has reached base safely in back-to-back outings after having been held hitless in his previous three. Over 15 games this month, he's slashing .190/.299/.362 with 12 runs scored, 10 RBI, three home runs and a 28.4 percent strikeout rate across 67 plate appearances.

Edwards (wrist) is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rockies.

Edwards is set to miss his fifth straight game due to right wrist soreness. Javier Sanoja is starting at second base and batting ninth against Colorado right-hander Tanner Gordon. Miami begins a three-game series with the Rangers on Friday.

Doyle is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Marlins.

Doyle has a .143 average and .353 OPS over the last 15 days. With Doyle coming off the bench Thursday, Jordan Beck, Mickey Moniak and Tyler Freeman will patrol the outfield for Colorado.

The Diamondbacks optioned Backhus to Triple-A Reno on Thursday.

Backhus has appeared in 32 games out of Arizona's bullpen this season, recording a 4.62 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 22:8 K:BB across 25.1 innings. He picked up his second save of the season in last Sunday's win over the Twins.

The Diamondbacks selected Abner's contract from Triple-A Reno on Thursday.

The 23-year-old Abner opened 2025 in Single-A but has advanced through Arizona's minor-league system quickly and appears set to make his MLB debut in the coming days. The left-hander has a 3.07 ERA and 10.7 K/9 across 58.2 innings of relief in the minors this season. Abner was a sixth-round pick in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft.

Hill (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.

Previous reports indicated that the right hamstring strain Hill suffered in early September would end his season, but it now appears he's got a shot to be activated from the 10-day injured list before the end of the month. Hill's playing time had fallen off before he got hurt, and if he does make it back before the end of the season, it would likely be in a reserve role.
