Rodriguez was removed from Thursday night's contest against the Angels in the third inning after taking a blow to the head earlier in the game, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Rodriguez took a 78.2 mph throw from Nolan Schanuel off the back of his helmet while advancing to second base on a ground ball in the bottom of the first inning. After he was able to remain in the contest for an additional frame, he was replaced in center field by Victor Robles in the top of the third. Rodriguez will likely undergo additional testing to determine if he suffered a concussion.

May exited Thursday's start against Atlanta in the first inning with a right ankle contusion, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

May was making his first start since June 21 after his last turn in the rotation was skipped due to the right-hander dealing with back tightness. May struggled out of the gate Thursday, allowing the first three batters he faced to reach base before he was able to get Michael Harris looking for a strikeout. After Mauricio Dubon notched an RBI single in the next at-bat, Dominic Smith hit a 91.6-mph liner up the middle, which hit off May's right ankle and rolled into foul territory for a double. He was able to remain in the contest for three more batters but was ultimately lifted for Justin Bruihl with two outs in the frame. May finished his day having allowed five runs on five hits and two walks while striking out one over two-thirds of an inning.

Rangel was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley after Thursday's 6-1 loss to the Pirates, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Rangel did not factor into the decision Thursday after he pitched four scoreless innings, surrendering three hits and four walks while striking out four batters during his start. He will now head back to Triple-A after combining to allow five runs while striking out 12 batters over 13 frames in three outings following his call-up June 22. Rangel's spot in the rotation is set to appear one more time before the All-Star break, and it remains to be seen if the Phillies go with a bullpen game or call up a spot starter for that game.

Bubic (elbow/shoulder) received a cortisone injection Thursday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Bubic will be shut down for 7-10 days before the team will reevaluate where he's at. The southpaw has been sidelined since mid-May while nursing left elbow and shoulder discomfort, and he was shifted to the 60-day injured list Wednesday.

Lagrange was placed on the 7-day injured list with a right shoulder injury Thursday, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Lagrange has not pitched with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre since he allowed five runs on four hits and two walks while tossing two-thirds of an inning June 28. His lack of action can now be traced back to a shoulder issue, and he is expected to undergo an MRI in the near future. The right-hander had begun the process of transitioning from being a starter to working out of the bullpen, and he was on track to potentially join the major-league roster in the near future. His major-league debut will now have to be pushed further down the road.

Edman is slotted as starting at second base and batting ninth in Thursday's updated lineup versus the Padres, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

The initial lineup card for the Dodgers had Alex Freeland starting at second and batting ninth. It appears the lineup with Edman starting was put out as a correction and not a late scratch for Freeland.

The Padres placed Adam on the 15-day injured list Thursday, retroactive to Tuesday, with a right shoulder strain.

In a corresponding move, the Padres reinstated German Marquez (forearm) from the 15-day injured list. Adam will be eligible to return after the All-Star break if he's recovered by then. The reliever had a 0.90 ERA heading into June, but he had a 5.11 ERA across his 12.1 innings pitched during that month.

Hancock will piggyback starter Logan Gilbert against the Blue Jays on Saturday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Hancock was set to follow Gilbert out of the bullpen last Saturday, but the Mariners decided shortly before the game to give them both their own separate starts during the weekend. The team will now revive their original plan this Saturday, which presumably involves Hancock remaining on the mound through the end of the game once Gilbert's day is done. The 27-year-old Hancock posted a 5.19 ERA and 1.15 WHIP across 26 innings in June, but he ended the month on a strong note while allowing just one earned run in 5.2 frames against Cleveland.

The Padres reinstated Marquez (forearm) from the 15-day injured list Thursday.

The Padres have Marquez returning healthy as they place Jason Adam on the 15-day injured list due to a right shoulder sprain. Marquez was placed on the 15-day injured list May 3 due to right forearm nerve irritation, which ended up costing him two months. He was working as a starter at the time of the injury but is now expected to come out of the bullpen.

Gusto did not factor into the decision Thursday against Colorado, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out two over three innings.

After he was handed a 2-0 lead in the first inning, Gusto gave up a solo home run to Mickey Moniak in the bottom half of the frame before the Rockies tacked on two more runs in the third. Gusto has seen a limited workload since joining the Marlins rotation -- he's yet to make it through five frames in any of his six starts. Overall, the right-hander sports a 5.55 ERA with a 1.60 WHIP and 22:10 K:BB across 24.1 innings.
