Konnor Griffin SS | PIT
Pirates' Konnor Griffin: Garners spring invite
The Pirates have extended Griffin an invitation to big-league camp during spring training.
Arguably the top prospect in all of baseball, Griffin tore through three levels of the minors in 2025, slashing .333/.415/.527 with 21 home runs and 65 stolen bases in his first pro season. The expectation is that he will be given a real shot to win the Pirates' Opening Day shortstop job, and if that happens, Griffin -- who turns 20 in late April -- would be the first position player to make his big-league debut as a teenager since Juan Soto in 2018.

Triston Casas 1B | BOS
Red Sox's Triston Casas: Opening Day in doubt
Casas (knee) said last week that being ready for Opening Day would be a "tight squeeze," Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.
Casas added that doctors have told him a typical recovery from patellar tendon surgery is 12 months, which would point to him making his season debut around May 1. The first baseman has been rehabbing at Boston's spring training facility in Florida this offseason and hopes to play in some spring training games. The Red Sox traded for Willson Contreras in December to take over at first base, so they can proceed cautiously with Casas' rehab.

Samad Taylor LF | SD
Mariners' Samad Taylor: Loses rosters spot
Taylor was designated for assignment by the Mariners on Thursday.
The Mariners acquired Yosver Zulueta from the Reds on Thursday, which created a need for a spot on the 40-man roster, and Taylor became the odd man out. The 27-year-old has primarily been stuck at Triple-A for the last four seasons, though he has picked up 83 plate appearances in the majors in that span.

Brock Burke RP | CIN
Reds' Brock Burke: Bolsters Reds' bullpen
Burke was traded from the Angels to the Reds in a three-team deal Thursday that also included the Rays, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. The full trade has Gavin Lux and Chris Clark are going to Tampa Bay while Josh Lowe heads to Anaheim.
The Reds swapped Lux for Burke in this trade, which is the club's latest in a series of moves to bolster its bullpen. Burke had a solid 3.36 ERA and 1.23 WHIP across 61.2 innings in 2025, and he has served in a high-leverage role for most of the last four seasons, recording 37 holds but no saves.

Chris Clark P | LAA
Rays' Chris Clark: Gets new home
Clark was traded from the Angels to the Rays in a three-team deal Thursday that included the Reds, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. Gavin Lux is also going to Tampa Bay in the trade, with Brock Burke joining the Reds and Josh Lowe heading to Anaheim.
Lowe and Gavin Lux were the biggest names involved in the deal, though Clark has shown some decent skills since being drafted in the fifth round of the 2023 First-Year Player Draft. He reached Double-A at the end of the 2025 season after posting a 108:34 K:BB across 103 innings with Single-A Inland Empire. The Rays have often gotten the most out of their pitchers, so Clark lands in a good spot to continue his development toward the majors.

Gavin Lux SS | TB
Rays' Gavin Lux: Traded to Rays
Lux was traded from the Reds to the Rays in a three-team deal Thursday that also includes the Angels, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. Chris Clark is also headed to Tampa Bay in the trade, with Brock Burke going to Cincinnati and Josh Lowe to Anaheim.
Lux is set to play out his final year of arbitration eligibility in 2026, making it surprising that the Rays seemingly targeted him in this deal. He should have a strong chance to serve on the large side of a platoon at second base, and that platoon is likely to be stricter in Tampa Bay compared to his situation in Cincinnati.

Joshua Lowe RF | LAA
Angels' Josh Lowe: Dealt to Angels
Lowe was traded from the Rays to the Angels in a three-team deal Thursday that also includes the Reds, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. The rest of the trade sends Gavin Lux and Chris Clark to Tampa Bay and Brock Burke to Cincinnati.
Lowe recently agreed to a one-year contract with the Rays for a modest $2.6 million to avoid arbitration, but he's now headed to a new home. He has struggled to stay healthy the last two seasons, combining to play in only 214 games. His performance has also dipped in that span as he posted a .649 OPS in 2025, though he remains a solid source of power and stolen bases and could benefit from the change of scenery.

Kyle Tucker RF | LAD
Dodgers' Kyle Tucker: Headed to LA
Tucker agreed to a four-year, $240 million contract with the Dodgers on Thursday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
The Dodgers continue to add to their loaded lineup, with Tucker marking their second significant signing of the offseason. The move should also help his counting-stat potential, as Tucker will undoubtedly hit close in proximity in the order to Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman. The signing also seems likely to result in Tommy Edman (ankle) primarily playing second base.

Yosver Zulueta SP | SEA
Mariners' Yosver Zulueta: Headed to Seattle
The Reds traded Zulueta to the Mariners on Thursday, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
After being DFA'd by the Reds earlier in the day, Zulueta will recapture a 40-man roster spot upon joining his new club. The 27-year-old righty allowed five earned runs in just 7.1 regular-season innings with the Reds during 2025 but finished with a 3.28 ERA and 1.15 WHIP through 60.1 frames in Triple-A. He's likely ticketed to begin the 2026 campaign at Triple-A Tacoma.

Miguel Castro RP | CHW
Angels' Miguel Castro: Lands MiLB deal with Angels
Castro (knee) signed a minor-league contract with the Angels on Thursday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Castro made six appearances with the White Sox last year, and he allowed five runs on five hits and five walks while striking out four batters over six innings before suffering a season-ending knee injury in late May. It's unclear where he currently stands in his recovery, but once healthy, the 31-year-old reliever will provide organizational depth at Triple-A Salt Lake and could make a handful of appearances for the Halos over the course of the season.
