Pete Fairbanks RP | MIA
Marlins' Pete Fairbanks: Leaves with unspecified injury
Fairbanks left Monday's game against the Dodgers due to an undisclosed injury, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports.
Fairbanks worked his way into a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the ninth inning, and after receiving a visit from the team trainer, he would walk off the field having retired only one batter on 23 pitches. He can be considered day-to-day until more information on his injury surfaces. Tyler Phillips was called on to attempt to salvage the save chance following Fairbanks' departure.

Trent Thornton RP | CHC
Cubs' Trent Thornton: Makes return from IL
Thornton (Achilles) was activated from the 7-day injured list Friday.
Thornton got off to a slow start to the 2026 campaign after undergoing surgery in August to repair a torn left Achilles tendon, but he's been given a clean bill of health. He made his 2026 debut with Triple-A Iowa, where he gave up a pair of hits and one walk over two innings but managed to escape without surrendering a run.

Wetherholt went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 4-2 win over the Pirates.
The rookie infielder went yard in his third consecutive game Monday as part of St. Louis' four-run rally in the ninth inning. Pecko made three rehab appearances in April while working his way back from thoracic outlet syndrome. He posted a sparkling 1.13 ERA with 15 strikeouts over eight innings during this stretch. George Soriano RP | STL
Cardinals' George Soriano: Nabs rare save Monday
Soriano secured the save Monday against the Pirates, allowing no runs on one hit and no walks in the ninth inning. He struck out one.
It's possible the Cardinals were short on available high-leverage arms following a competitive weekend series with the Mariners, which enabled Soriano to step up for his first save of the season. The 27-year-old right-hander could see occasional work as a setup man going forward but isn't likely to see many save opportunities in most situations, and he has a 4.38 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 10:6 K:BB over his first 12.1 frames.

Jasson Dominguez RF | NYY
Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Records one hit in season debut
Dominguez went 1-for-4 with a strikeout in Monday's 4-2 win against Texas.
Dominguez was called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre ahead of the game and started at DH for New York, batting sixth. He didn't do anything spectacular but did get involved on offense with a sixth-inning single. Giancarlo Stanton (calf) is headed for the injured list, per Erik Boland of Newsday, so Dominguez could get at least a temporary opportunity to play regularly with the hope of forcing his way into a long-term stint with the big-league club.
-
Gavin Hollowell RP | CHC
Cubs' Gavin Hollowell: Back from IL
Hollowell (undisclosed) was activated from the 7-day injured list Saturday.
Hollowell missed nearly three weeks after picking up an unspecified injury. He didn't show any signs of rust in his return to the bump Saturday, striking out a pair in a scoreless inning of relief work at Triple-A Iowa.

Ben Rice DH | NYY
Yankees' Ben Rice: Showing no signs of slowing down
Rice went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk against Texas in Monday's 4-2 victory.
Rice opened the scoring in the contest with a two-run blast to center field in the third inning. That gave him at least one RBI in three of his past four games and pushed him to 10 total homers, tied for fourth-most in MLB. After breaking out with an .836 OPS and 26 long balls during the regular season last year, Rice has been even better in the early going of the current campaign. He's slashing .322/.447/.744 and has complemented the 10 homers with 23 RBI, 26 runs and a stolen base through 114 plate appearances.
