    Tobias Myers RP | NYM

Mets' David Peterson: Set for bulk role Sunday

Peterson will pitch in bulk relief behind opener Tobias Myers in Sunday's game against the Cubs, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.

Myers made 31 starts for the Brewers over the past two seasons but he's maxed out at three innings and 39 pitches over his six relief appearances for the Mets in 2026. While the right-hander might provide more length than a typical opener, Peterson still appears to be in line to handle the larger share of the workload Sunday. Since tossing 5.1 shutout innings in his first start of the season March 28, Peterson has taken losses in each of his last three outings while posting a 8.79 ERA, 1.95 WHIP and 18:8 K:BB across 14.1 innings.

  • Astros' Jayden Murray: Back in big leagues

The Astros recalled Murray from Triple-A Sugar Land on Sunday.

The right-hander was optioned to Sugar Land last week but will rejoin the Astros with Joey Loperfido (quadriceps) landing on the injured list. Murray allowed two runs over two innings with a 3:3 K:BB in his lone appearance for Houston this season

  • George Valera CF | CLE

    Trevor Rogers SP | BAL

Guardians' George Valera: Idle against southpaw

Valera is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.

Though he'll head to the bench against southpaw Trevor Rogers, Valera had been seeing steady playing time against right-handed pitching since being activated from the injured list Monday. He started four of the Guardians' previous five contests, going 4-for-14 with two doubles and two RBI.

  • Framber Valdez SP | DET

Tigers' Framber Valdez: Game start time pushed back

Valdez's scheduled start Sunday against the Red Sox has been pushed back three hours due to expected rain in Boston, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

An extended period of rain is forecasted for Boston from midday into the afternoon, prompting the game to be moved back from its scheduled start time of 1:35 p.m. ET to 4:35 p.m. ET. Valdez will square off against Red Sox lefty Garrett Crochet.

  • Kyle Manzardo 1B | CLE

    Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

    Trevor Rogers SP | BAL

Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: On bench against lefty

Manzardo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.

The left-handed hitter had been in the lineup five straight games while the Guardians faced right-handed starting pitchers, but he'll take a seat Sunday against southpaw Trevor Rogers. Rhys Hoskins will fill in for Manzardo at first base and bat cleanup.

  • Red Sox's Garrett Crochet: Time change for scheduled start

Crochet's scheduled start Sunday against the Tigers has been pushed back three hours to 4:35 p.m. ET due to expected rain in Boston, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Crochet is looking to rebound from a disastrous outing Monday, when he yielded 11 runs (10 earned) on nine hits and three walks over 1.2 innings in a loss to the Twins. Framber Valdez is scheduled to start for Detroit.

  • Astros' Joey Loperfido: IL move official

The Astros placed Loperfido on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a right quadriceps strain.

The 26-year-old sustained the quad injury during Friday's 9-4 loss to the Cardinals. Loperfido will be eligible to be reinstated April 28, and Astros general manager Dana Brown said during a radio appearance Sunday that he's optimistic that the 26-year-old outfielder will be ready to return at that time, per Brian McTaggart of MLB.com. In the meantime, the Astros will likely lean on Brice Matthews, Dustin Harris and Shay Whitcomb to pick up reps in left field in Loperfido's absence.

  • Leody Taveras CF | BAL

Orioles' Leody Taveras: Idle for series finale

Taveras is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.

Taveras extended his hitting streak to seven games in Saturday's 4-2 loss, going 1-for-3 with a solo home run -- his first of the season -- and a walk. Though he'll exit the lineup Sunday while the Guardians send lefty Joey Cantillo to the hill, the switch-hitting Taveras appears to have solidified himself as a regular in the lineup against right-handed pitching.

  • Dylan Beavers RF | BAL

Orioles' Dylan Beavers: Taking seat against southpaw

Beavers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Beavers will hit the bench for the third time in Baltimore's past five contests, with all three of those absences coming versus left-handed starting pitchers. The 24-year-old has gone 3-for-24 with seven walks and nine strikeouts in his past nine contests and has a .610 OPS on the season, so he may need to get on track soon in order to maintain regular playing time.

  • Pirates' Ryan O'Hearn: Resting for series finale

O'Hearn is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.

The left-handed-hitting O'Hearn hasn't been a strict platoon player for the Pirates this season, but after he played eight of 13 innings in Saturday's 8-7 loss, he'll get a breather for Sunday's matinee game while southpaw Shane McClanahan toes the rubber for the Rays. Jake Mangum will pick up a start in the outfield in O'Hearn's stead.
