Juan Soto LF | NYM
Mets' Juan Soto: Sitting again Sunday
Soto (calf) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.
The veteran outfielder sat out of Saturday's contest after suffering a minor strain in his right calf Friday, and he'll sit for a second consecutive game Sunday. Soto will have Monday's team off day to aid in his recovery and try to avoid an IL stint.

Keaton Winn SP | SF
Giants' Keaton Winn: Allows run Saturday
Winn allowed one earned run on two hits and one walk while striking out one over one inning in Saturday's 9-0 loss to the Mets.
Winn entered in the seventh inning and allowed a double to the first batter he faced before later surrendering an RBI single. The 28-year-old has allowed just one run on two hits and two walks while striking out seven across four innings in four outings this season. The right-hander is a candidate for high-leverage innings in an injury-depleted bullpen behind closer Ryan Walker.

Danny Jansen C | TEX
Rangers' Danny Jansen: Opening on bench Sunday
Jansen isn't in the Rangers' starting lineup Sunday versus the Reds.
Jansen started behind the plate each of Texas' past four games, and he'll get a well-deserved rest Sunday. The veteran catcher has performed well to begin the season, slashing .250/.250/.458 with a home run and six RBI through 24 plate appearances. Kyle Higashioka is behind the dish for the Rangers in Sunday's series finale.

Gavin Sheets RF | SD
Padres' Gavin Sheets: Sitting second straight vs. lefty
Sheets is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Sheets sat against Boston lefty Connelly Early on Saturday and will do so again Sunday versus southpaw Ranger Suarez. Sheets' only start against a lefty came on Opening Day. The 29-year-old has a .636 OPS through 21 plate appearances this year, though he's been more productive over his past three contests, going 5-for-10 with two doubles, a steal, two RBI and three runs.

Josh Jung 3B | TEX
Rangers' Josh Jung: Out of Sunday's lineup
Jung isn't starting Sunday versus Cincinnati.
Jung will get the day off after starting seven of Texas' first eight games. He's struggled to begin the campaign, slashing .143/.172/.143 with one RBI and a 1:8 BB:K. Ezequiel Duran is manning the hot corner for Texas on Sunday.

Red Sox's Garrett Whitlock: Expected back Monday
Boston is expecting Whitlock (paternity leave) to return to the team Monday, Chris Henrique of BostonSportsJournal.com reports.
Whitlock has been away from the team since Friday while welcoming his second child into the world. The righty reliever should be back with Boston for the team's series opener at home versus Milwaukee. Whitlock has yet to give a up a run through three outings spanning three innings this season.

Carlos Rodon SP | NYY
Yankees' Carlos Rodon: Has soreness, manager unconcerned
Rodon (elbow/hamstring) experienced "some soreness" following his workout Saturday, but manager Aaron Boone said that the soreness is "to be expected," Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Rodon is continuing to work his way back from both offseason elbow surgery and a recent battle with right hamstring tightness. The veteran pitcher's workout Saturday consisted of a bullpen and agility work, and though he felt some soreness, it doesn't appear the issue will set him back. Rodon is next expected to throw another side session before potentially beginning a minor-league rehab stint.

Luis Curvelo RP | TEX
Rangers' Luis Curvelo: Called up to big-league club
Texas recalled Curvelo from Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday.
Curvelo wasn't able to break camp with the Rangers, but he'll now get a look in the bullpen after Carter Baumler landed on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to a right intercostal strain. In his first big-league stint last season, Curvelo tossed 19 innings over 17 appearances and posted a 5.68 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 20:10 K:BB while picking up two holds. He'll likely take on a low-leverage role.

Moises Ballesteros C | CHC
Cubs' Moises Ballesteros: Playing time trending down
Ballesteros is out of the lineup for the first game of Sunday's doubleheader against the Guardians.
Ballesteros will hit the bench for a third straight game after he started the first five contests of the season. The previous two absences came against a lefty starter, but right-hander Slade Cecconi is taking the ball for Cleveland in the first game of Sunday's twin bill. Alex Bregman is resting his legs but staying in the lineup at designated hitter while Matt Shaw handles the hot corner.

Carter Baumler RP | TEX
Rangers' Carter Baumler: Moved to IL with intercostal strain
The Rangers placed Baumler on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to a right intercostal strain.
Baumler had his best outing of the season Saturday versus Cincinnati, striking out one batter in one perfect inning, but he apparently was injured in the process. The right-hander will consequently need to miss at least a couple weeks. Texas recalled reliever Luis Curvelo from Triple-A Round Rock to take Baumler's place in the bullpen.
