Kurtz went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's 1-0 win over the Mets.

Kurtz went deep for the first time in 2026 on Sunday, victimizing Mets ace Freddy Peralta in the third inning. After beginning the season with a 1-for-17 dry spell in March, the standout first baseman is turning things around in April. Over his last 32 at-bats, Kurtz is batting .281 with three extra-base hits, three RBI, 10 walks and one stolen base.

Pivetta exited Sunday's start versus Colorado in the fourth inning with right elbow stiffness.

Pivetta was cruising through three innings before he was suddenly unable to continue. The 33-year-old's injury was initially unspecified, but it is now understood to be an issue with his pitching elbow. It certainly doesn't sound like a positive outcome for Pivetta, who has now strung together 13 innings of two-run ball while striking out 20 batters in his last three outings. The Padres will likely have the right-hander undergo additional testing in the near future to determine the severity of his elbow issue.

Kuhnel picked up the save Sunday against the Mets, throwing a clean ninth inning.

Kuhnel made quick work of the Mets on Sunday, retiring the side on a mere four pitches (three strikes). It was the second save of the season for the right-hander, who may be working his way into the ninth-inning mix in the Athletics' unsettled closer picture. Kuhnel has tossed 3.1 scoreless innings so far this year, and it's worth noting that high-leverage arms Hogan Harris, Scott Barlow and Elvis Alvarado all worked ahead of Kuhnel on Sunday.

Peralta (1-1) took the loss Sunday against the Athletics, allowing one run on four hits and three walks in six innings. He struck out six.

Peralta was touched up for a pair of extra-base hits, with one leaving the yard off the bat of Nick Kurtz in the third inning. It was an otherwise strong outing by the star right-hander, who registered his longest start of the year thus far and has fanned at least five in each of his first four appearances. Peralta owns a quality 3.86 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 25:8 K:BB through 21 frames, and he'll be trying to build off Sunday's performance next weekend versus the Cubs.

Bolton left Sunday's contest against the Mariners in bottom of the second inning with back tightness, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Bolton was far from sharp to open Sunday's matchup, hitting a batter while walking another and giving up a single and run in the bottom of the first. He then walked all three batters he faced in the second frame before being removed with back discomfort. The right-hander worked his way back from having been hit in his back by a line drive in the first inning of his previous start Monday versus the Rockies, and it's unclear if Sunday's issue is connected to that. More information on his status will likely be provided following the conclusion of the team's series finale with Seattle.

Civale (2-0) recorded the win Sunday against the Mets, allowing no runs on four hits and no walks in 5.2 innings. He struck out three.

The Mets weren't able to put up much resistance against Civale on Sunday, mustering only four singles versus the hurler. The right-hander has now lasted at least five innings in each of his first three starts of the year, and he also gave up no walks or homers for the first time this season. Civale sports a 1.72 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 12:5 K:BB so far, making him worthy of streaming attention in deeper leagues in next week's scheduled matchup against the White Sox.

Pivetta (undisclosed) exited Sunday's contest against the Rockies in the top of the fourth inning, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Pivetta set down the first nine batters he faced in order before signaling to the trainers after firing a 2-1 fastball to Edouard Julien in the top of the fourth inning. The right-hander ultimately exited the contest as a result of an undisclosed injury, finishing his day having tossed three perfect innings while striking out four batters on 46 pitches. More information on his status will likely be provided in the near future.

Manager Craig Albernaz said after Sunday's win against the Giants that the results of Rutschman's (ankle) MRI were encouraging, and the catcher may not require a lengthy stay on the injured list, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Rutschman landed on the injured list Saturday due to ankle inflammation, and the imaging indicates he's not dealing with a more serious issue. The 28-year-old will be eligible to be reinstated April 21, though it's unclear if he'll be ready to play by then. In the meantime, Samuel Basallo should operate as Baltimore's primary backstop while Maverick Handley handles backup duties.

Orioles manager Craig Albernaz announced after Sunday's win against the Giants that Mountcastle has been diagnosed with a fractured fourth metacarpal in his left foot and will miss some time, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

The 29-year-old suffered the injury during Saturday's contest and is now poised to hit the injured list. It's literally a tough break for Mountcastle, who finally appeared to have a chance at increased playing time when Adley Rutschman (ankle) landed on the shelf Saturday.

Painter struck out seven and allowed one earned run on three hits and one walk across five innings out of the bullpen in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Slated to make his third start of the season heading into Sunday, Painter ended up being scratched less than an hour before opening pitch after developing a migraine. Any headache Painter might have been experiencing wasn't enough to keep him from pitching, as the Phillies instead opted to have him come on in bulk relief behind Zach Pop, who started and worked the first two innings of the game. Painter proceeded to deliver a solid performance out of the bullpen, and the strong effort could help his case for remaining in the rotation on a longer-term basis. The Phillies could get Zack Wheeler (shoulder) back from the injured list as soon as next Sunday, but Painter appears likely to retain the No. 5 starter's role over Taijuan Walker, who has struggled to a 7.36 ERA and 1.91 WHIP through his first three outings.
