Shamet intends to sign a four-year, $24 million deal to return to the Knicks, Shams Charania of ESPN reports Monday. Shamet played for five different teams before landing in New York and finding a long-term home. He played a minor role during his first season but worked his way into being a key contributor in 2025-26, culminating in a few memorable playoff moments for the NBA champions. While a feel-good story, Shamet's on-court production will be modest and sporadic when everyone is healthy. He averaged 9.3 points in 23.0 minutes per game across 51 regular-season appearances (12 starts) during the 2025-26 season.

Shamet re-entered Saturday's 94-90 win over the Spurs in Game 5 of the NBA Finals with 26 seconds remaining after exiting the contest with 7:54 left in the fourth quarter due to an apparent leg injury. Shamet was hobbled after a hard fall to the court and made a trip to the locker room to be evaluated, but he returned to the New York bench shortly thereafter and was able to get back on the court for two brief shifts at the end of the game. The veteran guard finished Saturday's contest with five points (2-7 FG, 1-4 3Pt) and one rebound in 13 minutes. Overall, Shamet averaged 6.0 points, 1.5 three-pointers, 1.1 rebounds and 0.7 assists while shooting 45.3 percent from the field and 47.5 percent from downtown in 16.3 minutes per game while playing in all 19 of the Knicks' playoff games.

Shamet exited in the fourth quarter Saturday of Game 5 of the Knicks' NBA Finals matchup with the Spurs due to an apparent leg injury, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports. After landing awkwardly on the court, Shamet checked out of the game with 7:54 remaining in the fourth quarter and made a brief visit to the locker room. Though he's back on the New York bench, it's unclear if Shamet will be available for the waning minutes of Game 5.

Shamet recorded 13 points (5-12 FG, 3-7 3Pt), two rebounds, two assists and one block in 30 minutes during Friday's 105-104 win over the Spurs in Game 2 of the NBA Finals. Shamet landed at least three triples for the sixth time in the past seven games, continuing to provide the Knicks with a viable scoring option off the bench. He has now also played at least 28 minutes in three of the past four games, scoring at least 13 points in all four appearances. Now leading the series 2-0, New York will have the opportunity to wrap up the NBA Finals with back-to-back wins on its home court.

Shamet closed Monday's 130-93 victory over Cleveland in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals with 16 points (5-6 FG, 4-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two assists and one steal across 19 minutes. Shamet continues to be a viable three-point threat, having landed at least three triples in four of his past five games. Although he offers very little outside his perimeter scoring, Shamet's efficiency has meant opposing defenses have had to make an extra effort when guarding him. Monday's win means New York will now have a week off before facing either San Antonio or Oklahoma City in the NBA Finals.
