The Hornets traded Bridges, a 2029 first-round pick and a 2027 second-round pick to the Suns on Sunday in exchange for Grayson Allen, Royce O'Neale and a 2033 first-round pick, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. Bridges should continue to start in Phoenix, but his usage will likely dip, as he'll be competing for touches with the likes of Devin Booker, Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks. Bridges supplied averages of 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.9 triples per game this past season with the Hornets, but his offensive role might shrink some with the Suns.

Bridges could take on additional offensive responsibilities after Charlotte traded LaMelo Ball, according to Cholo Magsino of Yahoo Sports. The veteran forward remains one of the Hornets' most experienced scorers and playmakers, which may increase his importance as the team integrates younger players into larger roles. The addition of Naz Reid could push Bridges to small forward at times, and his long-term future could still depend on whether Charlotte pursues additional roster changes this offseason. Plus, he may lose out on some easy lobs that Ball was known for generating.

Bridges ended Friday's 121-90 Play-In Game loss to the Magic with 15 points (5-12 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 4-4 FT), two rebounds and one assist across 28 minutes. Bridges propelled the Hornets to a 127-126 overtime victory over the Heat in Tuesday's Play-In Game, when he logged 28 points, nine rebounds, two assists, three blocks and one steal over 43 minutes, though he was unable to replicate that production in Friday's elimination loss. Bridges was productive to open the 2025-26 season, but his numbers dipped significantly following the All-Star break. Over his final 24 regular-season outings from Feb. 24 to April 12, he averaged 14.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.5 threes and 0.8 steals over 28.3 minutes per game. Part of that dip had to do with Bridges taking a back seat to the likes of LaMelo Ball, Kon Knueppel and Brandon Miller. Bridges is slated to earn $22.8 million in 2026-27, which is the final year he is under contract with Charlotte.

Bridges finished with seven points (3-8 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), one rebound and two assists over 24 minutes during Sunday's 110-96 win over the Knicks. Bridges was mostly a non-factor in the win, limited to single digits for the first time in his past 10 games. Charlotte will host Miami in the first round of the Play-In Tournament, with the winner moving on to face the winner of Orlando and Philadelphia.

Bridges posted 25 points (10-12 FG, 4-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), eight rebounds and seven assists across 34 minutes during Sunday's 122-108 victory over the Timberwolves. Bridges and LaMelo Ball combined for 60 points in the win as the Hornets improved to 43-36 on the season. Bridges has been hot over his last eight games with 17.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.6 three-pointers in 28.1 minutes per contest.
