  • Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Won't play Friday

Gafford (ankle) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Thunder, Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.com reports.

Gafford will miss the first half of Dallas' back-to-back set after leaving Wednesday's win over Miami early due to an aggravated right ankle injury. His status for Saturday's game against the Rockets remains unclear, but with Dereck Lively (foot) out indefinitely, Dwight Powell and Moussa Cisse are candidates for increased roles behind Anthony Davis.

  • Joel Embiid C | PHI

    76ers' Joel Embiid: Out Friday

Embiid (left knee injury management) won't play in Friday's game against the Bucks, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com reports.

Embiid will get the night off for the closing end of Philadelphia's back-to-back set. The star center has been battling a right knee injury throughout the entirety of the season, and he's played in just eight games as a result. However, he appears to be battling a left knee injury as well. Andre Drummond, Adem Bona and Dominick Barlow should handle center duties Friday. Embiid's next chance to play will come Sunday against the Lakers.

  • Jusuf Nurkic C | UTA

Jazz's Jusuf Nurkic: Iffy for Friday

Nurkic (ribs) is questionable for Friday's game against the Knicks.

Nurkic missed the front end of this back-to-back set due to a rib contusion, allowing Kyle Filipowski to draw a start. The same situation could unfold Friday, as it's unclear how severe Nurkic's injury is. Thursday's absence was the first of the season for Nurkic.

  • Jakob Poeltl C | TOR

Raptors' Jakob Poeltl: Not on injury report

Poeltl (back/rest) is not listed on the injury report for Friday's game against the Hornets, Esfandiar Baraheni of The Athletic reports.

As expected, Poeltl will return to action after resting during Thursday's loss to the Lakers. Over his last 10 appearances, Poeltl has averaged 12.3 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.0 steals in 28.7 minutes.

  • Hawks' Kristaps Porzingis: Active at shootaround

Porzingis, who's officially listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Nuggets due to an illness, was spotted getting shots up after the Hawks' morning shootaround, Kevin Chouinard of the Hawks' official site reports.

Porzingis has missed four straight games due to an illness, allowing Onyeka Okongwu to see extended action. This past offseason, Porzingis was diagnosed with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, commonly referred to as POTS, and it can be a recurring ailment that zaps a person's energy. If Porzingis is cleared to suit up Friday, he'll likely face heavy restrictions for at least a few games.

  • Luke Kornet C | SA

Spurs' Luke Kornet: Won't play Friday

Kornet (ankle) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Cavaliers, Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News reports.

Kornet has been on a tear defensively, racking up 14 blocks and three steals over his last six games. He's drawn nine straight starts in Victor Wembanyama's (calf) absence, but with both big men sidelined, Kelly Olynyk and Bismack Biyombo are likely going to play bigger roles. Jeremy Sochan could also play some small-ball five. Kornet's injury is labeled as soreness, so it appears minor, and his next chance to suit up will come Monday in New Orleans.

  • N'Faly Dante C | ATL

Hawks' N'Faly Dante: Listed out for Friday

Dante (concussion) won't play Friday against the Nuggets.

Dante was diagnosed with a concussion during a G League game on Dec. 2, and he's currently without a timetable for a return.

  • Joel Embiid C | PHI

76ers' Joel Embiid: Scores 12 points in win

Embiid finished Thursday's 99-98 win over the Warriors with 12 points (5-13 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, three assists and one block over 25 minutes.

Initially listed as doubtful for Thursday's game, Embiid returned to action and saw a decent workload in the win. He was struggling to find his rhythm, however, and that's to be expected given how little he's actually seen the floor this season. The 76ers face the Bucks on Friday for the second leg of a back-to-back set, and it's highly unlikely that Embiid suits up.

  • Rudy Gobert C | MIN

Timberwolves' Rudy Gobert: Double-doubles in win

Gobert closed Thursday's 125-116 win over the Pelicans with 15 points (5-8 FG, 5-8 FT), 12 rebounds, three assists and one block across 24 minutes.

Gobert dominated his matchup with the 20-year-old Derik Queen, winning the rebounding battle in wins both Tuesday and Thursday. Over the past two contests, Gobert racked up a total of 41 points and 25 rebounds while shooting 14-for-18 from the field.

  • Celtics' Neemias Queta: Swats four shots in Thursday's win

Queta finished Thursday's 146-101 win over the Wizards with 17 points (7-9 FG, 3-4 FT), four rebounds, two assists, four blocks and one steal over 21 minutes.

Queta and the rest of the Celtics' starters didn't play much in the fourth quarter thanks to their comfortable lead. However, the fifth-year center still managed to make an impact on both ends of the floor, and he finished Thursday's game tying a season high in blocks. Queta has scored at least 13 points in five of his last eight outings, and over that span he has averaged 12.4 points on 71.4 percent shooting, 8.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 blocks over 22.8 minutes per game.
