  • Wilson confirmed Wednesday that he is joining CBS Sports and "The NFL Today" via a video that he posted to social media, Jayna Bardahl and Dan Shanoff of the Athletic report. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Monday that the QB had accepted an offer to join the CBS Sports team, but at the time it wasn't clear whether Wilson was leaving the door open to taking the field again down the road. Wednesday's "thank you, football" video seems to confirm that's not in the cards. Assuming his retirement becomes official, the 37-year-old will finish his NFL career with 46,966 passing yards, 353 touchdowns, 114 interceptions, 10 Pro Bowls and a Super Bowl XLVIII win.

  • Russell Wilson: Accepting television role
    By RotoWire

Wilson has accepted an offer to join a television broadcast team Monday in lieu of pursuing a backup quarterback position for the 2026 season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Wilson reportedly had been offered a contract by the Jets to provide depth behind Geno Smith, but the 37-year-old veteran instead will turn his attention toward a broadcasting career. While it remains to be seen whether Wilson intends to officially retire from the NFL, it appears at the very least that he doesn't plan to suit up during the 2026 campaign. He opened the 2025 season as the Giants' starter but only held onto that gig until Week 3, after which point then-rookie Jaxson Dart took the reins. With Wilson out of the mix, Cade Klubnik, Brady Cook and Bailey Zappe remain positioned as Gang Green's top reserve options behind Smith.

  • Wilson recently got a contract offer from the Jets, but he said Wednesday that he's undecided between continuing his football career and joining a television broadcast team, NFL.com's Kevin Patra reports. Wilson, 37, would join the Jets as a backup to Geno Smith, who not so long ago served as Wilson's backup in Seattle. The Jets currently have Brady Cook, Cade Klubnik and Bailey Zappe behind Smith on the depth chart, so they may pursue a different veteran QB if Wilson ultimately follows the QB-to-TV pipeline (or chooses another NFL team).

  • Russell Wilson: Visits with Jets on Tuesday
    By RotoWire

Wilson visited with the Jets on Tuesday, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports. Wilson is being considered as an option to back up Geno Smith after the two quarterbacks previously spent time together in Seattle. Now 37 years old, Wilson doesn't have a whole lot left in the tank and has looked overmatched when forced into game action in recent seasons, but he'd be a solid veteran sounding board wherever he ends up for the 2026 season.

  • Wilson said Monday that he intends to continue playing in 2026, Connor Hughes of SNY.tv reports. Wilson endured a rough 2025 campaign after joining the Giants on a one-year contract in March. The veteran signal-caller opened the season atop the depth but ended up lasting just three weeks as the starter, struggling mightily in Week 1 (against Washington) and Week 3 (against Kansas City) around a throwback Week 2 performance versus Dallas during which he threw for 450 yards and three touchdowns. Ironically, Wilson shared Monday that he actually suffered a Grade 2 hamstring tear on the final play of practice the Friday prior to the game against the Cowboys, per Hughes, making his monster performance all the more remarkable. Ultimately, Wilson appeared in just three more games following his demotion, completing four of nine passes for 53 yards and rushing twice for 12 yards in a backup role behind rookie Jaxson Dart before falling to the No. 3 spot on the depth chart (behind Dart and Jameis Winston) late in the campaign. Wilson is slated to be a free agent, and while his options are limited if he wants to have a chance to earn a starting role, there are a few NFL teams with shaky enough quarterback rooms to potentially give him that opportunity.
