The Bears placed Sweeney (undisclosed) on the practice squad injured list Thursday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports. Sweeney joined the Bears' practice squad Oct. 9 after failing to make the 53-man roster at the conclusion of training camp. It's unclear what is hindering the 2019 seventh-round pick, but he is ineligible to be called up from the practice squad to the active roster for at least four regular-season games. The earliest Sweeney would be able to be elevated would be against the Vikings on Sunday, Nov. 24. With Sweeney on practice squad IR, Chicago signed tight end Joel Wilson to the practice squad in a corresponding move.

Sweeney signed with the Bears' practice squad Wednesday, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports. Sweeney spent training camp in Chicago, recording nine catches for 86 yards, including two touchdowns. However, he couldn't secure a spot on their 53-man roster. He'll now have another opportunity to work his way to the Bears' active roster.

Sweeney agreed to a contract with the Bears on Sunday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports. Sweeney began his career with Buffalo before linking up with the Giants last season. He suffered a "medical event" on the practice field in late August and never got into a game with New York, as he was eventually cut in late November. He'll now get a chance to compete for a roster spot among a tight end group that is led by veterans Cole Kmet (forearm) and Gerald Everett (knee).

The Giants placed Sweeney (undisclosed) on the reserve/non-football illness list Tuesday, per the NFL's transaction log. Sweeney is set to miss at least the first four games of the regular season, as a result. The depth tight end suffered an undisclosed medical emergency Aug. 23, but coach Brian Daboll said, "he's good" after the event. It remains to be seen when/if New York expects to have Sweeney back on the field this season.

Sweeney (undisclosed) is under the care of medical professionals in the Giants' training room after experiencing a medical event during Wednesday's practice, Bob Brookover of NJ.com reports. He is stable, alert and conversant. Sweeney had been working with coaches on a side field when he had a medical episode that required the help of medical professionals. Most importantly, the tight end is in stable condition, but Sweeney's availability moving forward hasn't been clarified.
