The Lions signed Davenport (triceps) to a one-year, $4.75 million contract Saturday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Davenport proved to be an effective pass rusher across his first five seasons with the Saints, but injuries have limited him to just six regular-season games over the last two years. His 2024 campaign came to a halt after he suffered a triceps injury against Arizona in Week 3, but the 2018 first-round pick will run it back with Detroit for the 2025 campaign. Davenport's most productive season came in 2021 with the Saints, when he posted 39 tackles (23 solo), including 9.0 sacks, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery across 11 regular-season games.

The Lions placed Davenport (triceps) on injured reserve Tuesday. Davenport lands on injured reserve after suffering a season-ending triceps injury during Detroit's win over Arizona in Week 3. The 28-year-old edge rusher has logged just six combined regular-season appearances over the last two seasons. Now Davenport, who is set to hit free agency in March, will focus on returning to full health.

Davenport suffered a season-ending tricep injury in Sunday's 20-13 win over the Cardinals, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Though the exact details surrounding Davenport's injury aren't known, he presumably is dealing with at least a partial tear of his tricep and will require surgery. Injuries have been an issue for the defensive end, as he has played just six games over the past two seasons and may have played a part in him settling for a one-year, $6.5 million deal with the Lions in free agency this offseason. Over his two games with Detroit, Davenport recorded two tackles and a half sack.

Head coach Dan Campbell told reporters Monday that Davenport (elbow) won't return this season, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports. The first-year Lion was feared to have sustained a season-ending elbow injury during Sunday's Week 3 win over the Cardinals, and Campbell's comments Monday confirmed it. Davenport has struggled with injuries over the past two seasons, appearing in just six total games. Expect Josh Paschal to see increased time with the Lions' first-team defense with Davenport sidelined for the remainder of the season.

Davenport will undergo tests Monday on his elbow after suffering an injury in Sunday's 20-13 win over the Cardinals, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Davenport was in and out of the game and tried to continue playing with a sleeve on the affected arm. Rapoport suggests though that the injury may be significant and could be of the season-ending variety. More clarity on Davenport's future status will likely come when the Lions release their first injury report of the week ahead of a Week 4 Monday night showdown with the Seahawks.
