  • On the subject of his Achilles rehab, Jones said Friday, "I'm doing everything. Cleared to do everything. I think it's just about, at this point, sharpening that," James Boyd of The Athletic reports. That said, Jones acknowledges the injury he sustained Dec. 7 last year is still on his mind, noting on that front, "you're still thinking about it. I think (you) probably will until you get playing." An important milestone in the QB's ongoing recovery will be a return to 11-on-11 drills, with Coach Shane Steichen having previously noted that the plan is for Jones to resume work in those drills when training camp begins later this month.

  • Coach Shane Steichen said this week that Jones (Achilles) is expected to participate in 11-on-11 drills when training camp begins next month, James Boyd of The Athletic reports. Jones, who suffered an Achilles' tear Dec. 7 last year, has been been working in the seven-on-seven portions of practice, and per Boyd, the QB asked about about moving on to 11-on-11's during the team's minicamp this week. On that topic, coach Shane Steichen noted, "we want to be super smart with him...I mean, could he potentially do it (11-on-11)? Yeah, probably. He probably could, but we're not going to do that right now." In any case, Jones' recovery remains on track, and assuming no setbacks this summer, he'll continue to work toward being ready to go for the Colts' Sept. 13 regular-season opener against the Ravens, with the signal-caller's eventual participation in team drills representing a major milestone toward that.

  • Jones (Achilles) is participating in 7-on-7 drills Monday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports. After participating in individual drills the previous week, Jones has progressed to team drills at OTAs. He's 176 days removed from tearing his Achilles, and Jones' ability to ramp up his activity level at OTAs suggests he remains on track to conclude his recovery in time to take the field Week 1 against the Ravens on Sunday, Sept. 13.

  • Colts' Daniel Jones: Making progress
    By RotoWire

Colts coach Shane Steichen noted Tuesday that Jones is already handling dropbacks at this stage of his recovery from a torn right Achilles, James Boyd of The Athletic reports. Jones suffered his Achilles tear on Dec. 7 last year, so the QB still has a way to go in his recovery, and the Colts have not yet offered a timeline on when Jones might be fully cleared. Steichen did note that the signal caller is having a "phenomenal rehab," adding that he's confident Jones is doing everything he can to be ready sooner rather than later. With Jones still on the mend, Riley Leonard will handle first-team reps during OTAs, as Anthony Richardson (eye) -- who has requested a trade -- wasn't present at all for the start of Indy's voluntary workout sessions.

  • Colts' Daniel Jones: Extension official
    By RotoWire

The Colts officially signed Jones (Achilles) to a two-year contract extension Thursday, Jones' contract not only provides an extra year of security with Indianapolis beyond the transition tag, that was initially extended to him, but it gives him a base salary of $50 million for 2026, per Brigid Kennedy of SI.com, $12.2 million above the tag amount even before including his $6 million in incentives. The 28-year-old said Wednesday on The Pat McAfee Show that he's fully recovered from the broken left fibula injury he dealt with in 2025 and that he's "making good progress with the rehab" from the right Achilles he suffered in December, as Grant Gordon of NFL.com reports. Jones said his goal is to "be back by Week 1 and ready to go," but it's far from a sure thing that he will be fully cleared for the start of the regular season, given the severe nature of his injury. Second-year quarterback Riley Leonard would be a candidate to start the year if Jones isn't ready to kick off there regular season, as Anthony Richardson (eye) is actively seeking a trade away from Indianapolis.
