The Lions have elevated Ricci from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday's game against Pittsburgh. Ricci will be elevated for a second consecutive game to contribute in a depth capacity at tight end. Versus the Rams in Week 15, he played 12 snaps on offense (zero targets) and 14 snaps on special teams. He'll revert to the practice squad after Sunday's contest.

Ricci reverted to the Lions' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. With Sam LaPorta (back) and Brock Wright (neck) on injured reserve, Ricci was elevated behind Shane Zylstra and Anthony Firkser. Ricci logged 12 offensive snaps and another 14 on special teams but didn't produce anything in the box score against the Rams during Sunday's loss.

The Lions signed Ricci to the practice squad Sunday. Ricci was cut by the Vikings Aug. 26 and had not yet been signed to a practice squad or roster this regular season. The tight end likely was signed for additional depth amid the absences of Sam LaPorta (back), Brock Wright (neck) and Shane Zylstra (ankle).

Minnesota signed Ricci on Tuesday. In a corresponding transaction, the Vikings released linebacker Matt Harmon. Ricci was dropped by Cleveland last August before signing a futures deal with New England in February, and he's now changing uniforms again. He's unlikely to crack Minnesota's 53-man roster in 2025.

New England released Ricci on Monday. Ricci didn't log any action last season after having been cut by the Browns at the end of training camp, but he resurfaced in the league via a reserve/future contract with the Patriots in early February. Now, the 28-year-old tight end will have to look elsewhere in the NFL for another chance at a depth role.
