The Jaguars waived Rees-Zammit (back) on Friday. Rees-Zammit was part of the NFL's international program as a former rugby player, and he informed the Jaguars on Thursday evening that he's returning home to Wales to play rugby. Rees-Zammit had been missing practices due to a back injury.

Rees-Zammit has been sidelined for multiple training camp practices due to a lower-back injury, Mia O'Brien of 1010 XL 92.5 FM Jacksonville reports. It's not clear when Rees-Zammit sustained the injury. It comes at a bad time for the former Welsh rugby player as he looks to earn a spot on the Jaguars' 53-man roster. Rees-Zammit will aim to be at full health for Jacksonville's preseason opener against Pittsburgh on Aug. 9.

Rees-Zammit signed with the Jaguars' practice squad Thursday. Rees-Zammit signed with the Chiefs in March after a successful rugby career in Wales. He wasn't able to survive Kansas City's final cuts, but he'll now have an opportunity to further develop on Jacksonville's practice squad.

The Chiefs waived Rees-Zammit on Tuesday, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports. Rees-Zammitt is a Welsh rugby star who signed with the Chiefs via the NFL's international program. During the preseason, he rushed six times for 22 yards. He could be further developed on the practice squad.

Rees-Zammit left Monday's practice with a back issue, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports. The former rugby star is likely fighting for a depth role on the Chiefs' 53-man roster, so this injury could hurt his chances of making it past cutdown day. Expect Mecole Hardman and Nikko Remigio to see even more reps returning kicks with Rees-Zammit sidelined.
