  Wilson (coach's decision) is inactive but serving as the emergency third quarterback in Sunday's Week 1 matchup against the Seahawks. As expected, Jarrett Stidham is serving as the No. 2 quarterback behind rookie 12th overall pick Bo Nix, who'll make his NFL debut as a starter Sunday. Wilson arrived in Denver this offseason in need of a career reset after a difficult first three years with the Jets, but he'll only enter Sunday's game if both Nix and Stidham are forced from the contest due to injury.

• Broncos' Zach Wilson: Shines in preseason finale

  Wilson completed 16 of 25 passes for 251 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 38-12 preseason win over the Cardinals. He added 22 rushing yards and a TD on two carries. Jarrett Stidham led the offense for Denver's first possession and got the team into the end zone, but Wilson played the rest of the way and had plenty of success, finding Nate Adkins for a one-yard score in the second quarter and Brandon Johnson for a 46-yard TD strike in the fourth. Wilson also added a one-yard touchdown plunge of his own just before halftime. Despite the strong performance, the former Jet will still likely head into the season as the Broncos' No. 3 quarterback, with 2024 12th overall pick Bo Nix having already been named the Week 1 starter.

• Broncos' Zach Wilson: Struggles in spring practices

  Wilson failed to impress at spring practices, according to Nick Kosmider of The Athletic. Kosmider suggests Wilson seemed to have more trouble than rookie Bo Nix with the adjustment to coach Sean Payton's offense. While Wilson still has time to make an impression during training camp and the preseason, it sounds like he's currently positioned to be the No. 3 QB or even released. The Broncos acquired him in April for a late-round pick swap, trading down from No. 203 to 256 while taking on only half of Wilson's $5.5 million salary from the Jets.

• Jets' Zach Wilson: May stay if no trade happens

  Jets chairman Woody Johnson suggested Monday that if the Jets don't trade Wilson, they intend to keep the QB, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. That said, Cimini notes that the Jets remain motivated to deal Wilson, who last month was granted permission to speak to other teams about a possible trade. Given that Tyrod Taylor was recently signed by the Jets to back up Aaron Rodgers (Achilles), a change of scenery would no doubt benefit Wilson, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. In three seasons since then, the 24-year-old has compiled a 12-21 record as a starter and thrown more interceptions (25) than TD passes (23).

• Jets' Zach Wilson: Moves to injured reserve

  Wilson (concussion) was placed on injured reserve Saturday. It's an uneventful end to what could realistically be Wilson's final season with the Jets. The third-year quarterback missed the final three games of the 2023 campaign due to a concussion, but given how Wilson was yo-yo'd in and out of the starting lineup since Week 11, it's fair to question if the team had whittled away the 24-year-old's confidence to the point of no return. With Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) set to start next season, it's unclear what the future holds for Wilson in a Jets uniform.
