  • Lions' Kerby Joseph: Placed on IR
    By RotoWire

The Lions placed Joseph (knee) on injured reserve Saturday. Joseph will miss the remainder of the regular season due to his knee injury, but he could be a candidate to return to action during the playoffs, if Detroit progresses to the postseason. Thomas Harper is set to handle a starting role at free safety versus the Steelers on Sunday, and for the remainder of the regular season, with Joseph sidelined.

  • Joseph (knee) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Steelers. Joseph's knee injury is severe enough that the safety was an IR candidate last week. Since then, it seems he has been able to progress enough that he will be able to stay on the active roster, though he will be missing consecutive games. With the starter ruled out, Thomas Harper is in line to play significant snaps at free safety in Sunday's contest.

  • Lions head coach Dan Campbell said Friday that Joseph (knee) is a possible injured reserve candidate, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports. Joseph appeared as a limited participant in practice Wednesday but appeared to have suffered a setback after no participation Thursday or Friday. It looks as though the 25-year-old is set to miss an extended period of time, and it's currently unknown when he will return this season. Thomas Harper will remain as a starting safety in Kerby's absence.

  • Joseph (knee) was a limited practice participant Wednesday. Joseph is in an odd position, having been sidelined since Week 7 yet never placed on injured reserve. He failed to practice the last two days before Detroit's Week 14 win over the Cowboys, so his return to practice Wednesday is a positive. Nevertheless, his status for a Week 15 matchup against the Rams remains unclear.

  • Joseph has been sidelined since Week 6 due to a knee injury, but the fourth-year safety intends to return in 2025 and seek treatment for his injury during the offseason, NFL reporter Jordan Schultz reports. Joseph has not been placed on the Lions' injured reserve despite the prolonged absence. He returned to practice as a limited participant Monday -- his first action since the injury -- but did not participate in Tuesday's session. Joseph faces an uphill battle to be cleared to play against the Cowboys on Thursday, but with more practices under his belt, he could be available for the Lions' Week 15 road tilt against the Rams on Sunday, Dec. 14.
