  • Shakir secured all five targets for 54 yards and rushed once for two yards in the Bills' 31-10 win over the Dolphins on Thursday night. Shakir served as the Bills' leader in receptions, receiving yards and targets on the night, which was particularly noteworthy in a game during which Josh Allen recorded only 13 completions for 139 yards. The third-year wideout still is expected to serve as Buffalo's No. 1 receiver at least until rookie Keon Coleman gets his NFL legs under him, and Shakir will head into a Week 3 home matchup against the Jaguars on Monday, Sept. 23 with an 8-96-1 line on eight targets through the first two games.

  • Shakir caught all three targets for 28 yards during Saturday's 33-6 preseason loss to the Bears. You will probably hear this nugget several times before fantasy drafts are over, but Shakir is the only wideout on the roster to ever catch a pass from Josh Allen. With Stefon Diggs off to Houston and Gabe Davis moving to the Jaguars, Shakir may be the best bet for fantasy production among the Buffalo wideout corps. However, rookie Keon Coleman is showing promise while veteran Curtis Samuel figures to see a number of touches in a jack-of-all-trades role, while running back James Cook and tight end Dalton Kincaid figure to factor in heavily in the passing game.

  • Shakir (lower body) participated in Buffalo's first training camp practice Wednesday, Alec White of the Bills' official site reports. The 2022 fifth-round pick suffered a minor injury during June minicamp but is still positioned for a key role in a revamped receiver corps that also includes veteran newcomers Curtis Samuel, Mack Hollins, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Chase Claypool, as well as rookie Keon Coleman. With Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis no longer around, Shakir is the only wideout on the roster who has caught a pass from quarterback Josh Allen in a regular-season game. Shakir logged a 39-611-2 receiving line on 45 targets over 17 regular-season games in 2023, then added 10 catches for 75 yards and two scores on 12 targets over two playoff contests.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Exits practice early
    By RotoWire

Shakir exited Tuesday's minicamp practice early due to an apparent lower-body issue, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports. Per Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo, Shakir chatted with trainers after suffering the injury and then limped off the field. He didn't return to the session and can be considered day-to-day. The 2022 fifth-rounder is the top returnee in a Buffalo WR corps that no longer includes Stefon Diggs or Gabe Davis, leaving Shakir to compete for snaps and targets with a group of newcomers that includes Curtis Samuel, rookie Keon Coleman, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Chase Claypool and Mack Hollins.

  • Shakir gained competition for snaps and targets after the Bills took Keon Coleman out of Florida State with the first pick of the second round Friday. This may not end up being a terrible thing for Shakir's 2024 outlook, as it was doubtful the Bills were going to enter the season with such a thin wideout crew, and a big target like Coleman could draw defensive attention away from Shakir. The latter is coming off a 39-611-2 season in 17 regular-season games, but with Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis off to new locales, Shakir has room to grow his production in his third NFL season. For now, he and Coleman project as starters, while Curtis Samuel is more of a hybrid No. 3.
