The Rams officially traded Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick and a 2029 third-round pick to Cleveland in exchange for Myles Garrett on Monday. Verse is entering Year 3 of his NFL career as a two-time Pro Bowler and fresh off a 2025 campaign in which he tallied 58 tackles (35 solo), including 7.5 sacks, a pass defensed and three forced fumbles over 17 regular-season games. He now replaces Garrett as the clear leader of the Browns' pass-rush corps, joining a young defense that also features LB Carson Schwesinger (ankle), the reigning Defensive Rookie of the Year. While Verse, the 2024 Defensive Rookie of the Year, won't have the benefit of lining up alongside Byron Young in 2026, he will have every opportunity to take the next step forward in his development under DC Mike Rutenberg.

Verse is expected to be dealt to the Browns as part of a trade the Rams are finalizing to acquire Myles Garrett, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Verse, who has begun his NFL career with back-to-back Pro Bowls, appears slated to head to Cleveland alongside a 2027 first-round pick and further draft compensation in exchange for Garrett, a two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year. The 25-year-old tallied 7.5 sacks across 17 regular-season games with the Rams in 2025 and will become the pillar of the Browns' pass rush in Garrett's stead, though Verse's immediate prospects in terms of productivity will figure to take a hit if he's no longer paired alongside Byron Young.

Verse's play was rewarded with a selection as a 2026 NFL Pro Bowler alongside Young, and Verse should continue his ascension towards being one of the top linebackers in the NFL in his third season.

Verse's first sack came on a takedown of Baker Mayfield two players before the end of the first half, and Verse later sacked backup Teddy Bridgewater early in the fourth period. Sunday marked the first time this season Verse has posted multiple sacks in a game. After totaling 4.5 sacks over 17 regular-season games as a rookie last year, Verse is up to 6.0 sacks across 11 contests this season.

Verse recorded a sack for a second straight game, when he got to Daniel Jones late in the fourth quarter for a nine-yard loss. Verse -- who was named the 2024 Defensive Rookie of the Year -- is up to 17 tackles (10 solo), including 2.0 sacks, and two forced fumbles through the first four games of the 2025 regular season.
