Achane rushed 11 times for 36 yards and brought in four of five targets for 30 yards in the Dolphins' 27-13 loss to the Raiders on Sunday. Achane ceded only one carry to backup Jaylen Wright, but the former's opportunities on the ground were limited due to a game script that saw the Dolphins trailing throughout. Achane did finish second in receptions and third in targets for Miami on the afternoon, and his 15 touches were tops among all of the team's skill-position players. He should continue to enjoy a solid floor in terms of his workload each week, as even if the Dolphins are frequently in scenarios similar to Sunday's, his prowess as a receiver projects to consistently keep him on the field.

Achane is set to lead a Dolphins backfield in 2026 that will also include Jaylen Wright and Ollie Gordon (ribs), based on Miami's initial 53-man roster. The Dolphins traded for Jarquez Hunter shortly before cutdown day, but he ultimately didn't make the 53-man roster, though Hunter remains in the organization as part of the practice squad. Fullback D.J. Herman is also listed as a running back, but the team's backfield is otherwise unchanged from 2025, when Achane produced a career-high 1,838 scrimmage yards. The team around Achane went through an offseason overhaul, including the addition of mobile QB Malik Willis, but Achane projects to maintain a prominent role as the centerpiece of an otherwise unproven offense.

Achane is not in uniform for Saturday's preseason game against the Giants, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. Achane will join quarterback Malik Willis on the sidelines for Saturday's exhibition game. With Achane not playing, Jaylen Wright and Ollie Gordon figure to see the bulk of the backfield snaps in the first half, with Donovan Edwards and Carlos Washington also in the mix for reps on offense.

Achane rushed seven times for 39 yards and a touchdown and wasn't targeted in the Dolphins' 20-7 preseason loss to the Commanders on Friday. The Pro Bowl running back looked in midseason form during his brief time in the game, which consisted of the Dolphins' marathon 93-yard opening drive. Achane scooted for 19 yards on his first two carries, and before his final two runs of the night, he didn't net a gain of fewer than five yards. His final rush attempt resulted in a one-yard touchdown and capped off the 14-play possession, and Friday may prove to be Achane's longest stint of playing time this preseason ahead of what's expected to be a high-volume 2026 campaign as Miami's unquestioned No. 1 back.

Dolphis coach Jeff Hafley said Monday on The Rich Eisen Show that Achane may have games with 40 touches this year, ESPN.com reports. The number is an exaggeration, but Hafley did make it clear he'll keep Achane busy, joking that "there might be some games when I have to pick him up and carry him back to the locker room because he's going to be so tired." Hafley also mentioned telling the running back that he didn't want to see him tapping his helmet for a breather, to which Achane responded that he's up to the task. The Dolphins don't seem to buy into any notion of limiting Achane's workload in a likely rebuilding year, though it is possible the tune changes if the season progresses and wins prove elusive or he gets banged up.
