  • Chase McLaughlin: Joins practice squad

McLaughlin was signed to the Colts' practice Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

McLaughlin's signing comes after the team waived Rodrigo Blankenship on Tuesday. The former spent four games with the team in 2019, and he's been bouncing around the league ever since, filling in for several teams. McLaughlin will be competing with Lucas Havrisik, who was also signed Tuesday, to see who gets the nod with the active roster Sunday, when the Colts travel to Jacksonville.

  • Rodrigo Blankenship: Cut after missing critical kick

The Colts waived Blankenship on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

In addition to drawing penalties after sending two kickoffs out of bounds in Week 1, Blankenship misfired on a 42-yard field-goal attempt in overtime against the Texans that cost the Colts a win and forced the team to settle for a 20-20 tie. The poor showing will now cost him his job, but the 25-year-old was already on thin ice entering the season. The Colts' decision to move on from Blankenship comes after he followed up a strong 2020 rookie season by converting only 11 of 14 field-goal tries (78.6 percent) and seven of eight extra-point attempts (87.5 percent) in 2021 while being limited to five games due to a hip injury. He was healthy for training camp but still faced competition for the Colts' kicking role, narrowly beating out Jake Verity for the gig. According to Pelissero, the Colts auditioned a number of kickers in a group workout Tuesday and will likely sign one or two to the practice squad before deciding on a replacement ahead of Sunday's game in Jacksonville.

  • Chiefs' Harrison Butker: Managing left ankle sprain

Kansas City head coach Andy Reid confirmed Tuesday that Butker is dealing with a left ankle sprain and is considered day-to-day as Thursday's game against the Chargers approaches, Nate Taylor of The Athletic reports. "We'll just see how that goes," Reid said of Butker. "He's got some swelling. He's a tough kid."

Butker played through the injury in Sunday's 44-21 win over the Cardinals, converting on all four of his extra-point tries in addition to a 54-yard field-goal attempt. However, despite his long-range conversion, the ankle sprain apparently kept Butker from being able to kick at his maximum distance, as Kansas City turned to safety Justin Reid to handle kickoffs from the first quarter onward. The team listed Butker as a non-participant on Monday's estimated practice report and will likely wait and see how his ankle feels in the next day or two before deciding whether he's ready to go for Week 2. If Butker isn't available, Matt Ammendola -- whom Kansas City signed to its practice squad Monday -- would presumably be elevated to the active roster to handle kicking duties against the Chargers.

  • Chiefs' Harrison Butker: Plays through ankle issue

Butker converted his only field goal attempt and all four of his extra-point tries while playing through an ankle injury during Sunday's 44-21 win versus Arizona.

Butker briefly left the contest due to the ankle injury but eventually returned and finished the game. He was listed as a non-participant on Monday's estimated injury report, so he's not guaranteed to be available for Kansas City's matchup with the Chargers on Thursday in Week 2.

  • Jason Myers K | SEA

Seahawks' Jason Myers: Notches five points

Myers made his only field-goal attempt and both of his extra-point tries in Monday night's 17-16 win over the Broncos.

Myers converted from 49 yards on his lone field goal. Although his involvement was enough to see Seattle clinch a narrow, emotional victory, he'll hope for more scoring opportunities in Week 2 versus San Francisco.

  • Broncos' Brandon McManus: Misses game-winning kick

McManus made three of four field-goal attempts and his only extra-point try in Monday night's 17-16 loss to the Seahawks.

McManus converted from 30, 40 and 26 yards prior to missing a potential game-winning kick from 64 yards on Denver's last drive. Despite that miss, his 10 total points still made it a pretty productive start to the campaign.

  • Chargers' Dustin Hopkins: Misses kick in opener

Hopkins made one of two field-goal attempts and all three of his extra-point tries in Sunday's 24-19 win over the Raiders.

Hopkins converted from 43 yards to cap the Chargers' opening drive of the season. He subsequently missed a 49-yarder wide left in the second half, but Los Angeles still held onto its victory. Next up for Hopkins is a quick turnaround, as he'll face the Chiefs on Thursday night in Week 2.

  • Matt Prater K | BUF

Cardinals' Matt Prater: Makes only kick

Prater did not attempt a field goal but made his only extra-point try in Sunday's 44-21 loss to the Chiefs.

Prater did all that was required of him, but his lack of opportunities resulted in an underwhelming output. He'll hope for more scoring chances in Week 2 versus the Raiders.

  • Jaguars' Riley Patterson: Misses one kick

Patterson made three of four field-goal attempts and his only extra-point try in Sunday's 28-22 loss to the Commanders.

Patterson converted from 33, 43 and 45 yards but hit the right upright with a 37-yard field goal before halftime. Still, with 10 points on the day, it was a mostly productive season debut for the second-year kicker.

  • Jake Elliott K | PHI

Eagles' Jake Elliott: Scores eight points

Elliott made his only field-goal attempt and all five of his extra-point tries in Sunday's 38-35 win over the Lions.

Elliott converted from 23 yards on his lone field goal, helping him rack up eight points to kick off the campaign. The veteran has now put together six straight regular-season outings with at least eight points dating back to last year.
