  • Joey Slye K | TEN

Texans' Joey Slye: Big game in opener

Slye converted all three field-goal attempts and four extra-point kicks in Sunday's 37-21 win over Jacksonville.

Slye was added to the active roster from the practice squad because primary kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn (leg) was inactive. His productive 13-point day may be enticing, but unless Fairbairn's injury is significant, it does not mean much for Slye's fantasy prospects for the season.

  • Cairo Santos K | CHI

Bears' Cairo Santos: Quiet in losing effort

Santos converted a pair of extra points in the Bears' 34-14 loss to the Rams on Sunday.

With the Bears offense having limited success against an excellent Rams defense, Santos wasn't called upon for a single field-goal attempt. However, as the schedule eases up, the Bears have the type of offense that can move the ball but fail to finish drives, which gives Santos the ability for spike weeks in the scoring column.

  • Browns' Chase McLaughlin: Makes minor impact

McLaughlin made three of three extra-point kicks in Sunday's 33-29 loss to the Chiefs.

McLaughlin came out of the preseason as the only rostered kicker, but it wasn't until just before the start of the regular season that the Browns confirmed him as their placekicker. That left his status murky entering fantasy drafts, but he did nothing to lose the job Sunday. The Browns scored touchdowns on all four trips to the red zone, and head coach Kevin Stefanski opted for a two-point conversion following an encroachment penalty on what was supposed to be a kick. Three of his five kickoffs were touchbacks, and the two kicks that were returned left the Chiefs with an average field position of the 19.5-yard line.

  • Mike Badgley K | BUF

Titans' Michael Badgley: Struggles with opening opportunity

Badgley missed his only field-goal attempt and converted one of his two extra-point attempts in Sunday's Week 1 contest against Arizona.

Badgley joined the Titans on Saturday, but didn't endear himself in his first opportunity with the team. His first kick was a missed extra point partway through the second quarter, and one drive later he pushed a 46-yard field-goal attempt wide left. Badgley struggled with accuracy as a member of the Chargers, and initial returns suggest that area of his game has not improved.

  • Matt Prater K | BUF

Cardinals' Matt Prater: Near perfect Sunday

Prater was 1-for-2 on field-goal attempts and 5-for-5 on point-after tries during Sunday's 38-13 win in Tennessee.

Prater did have one foible on the day, missing a 43-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter. Otherwise, he was on point, making a 34-yarder and also recording touchbacks on six of his seven kickoffs. Assuming the Cardinals offense continues to operate at a high level behind quarterback Kyler Murray, Prater should be afforded plenty of options to produce on a weekly basis.

  • Browns' Chase McLaughlin: Active Sunday

McLaughlin (hamstring) is active for Sunday's season opener against Kansas City.

Though McLaughlin was a full participant in practice Friday, he was listed as questionable for Sunday's game. However, he's good to go after all, while fellow kicker Chris Naggar has been made inactive by the Browns.

  • Nick Folk K | ATL

Patriots' Nick Folk: Set to kick Sunday

Folk will kick for the Patriots in Sunday's season opener against the Dolphins, Erik Scalavino of the team's official site reports.

Folk was promoted from the team's practice squad late Saturday, and now he'll handle New England's Week 1 kicking duties, with rookie Quinn Nordin having been made inactive.

  • Eddy Pineiro: Gets injury settlement

Washington cut Pineiro (undisclosed) from its practice squad with an injury settlement Saturday, independent NFL journalist Aaron Wilson reports.

After serving as the Bears' kicker during the 2019 season, Pineiro came out of camp last year in the same position, only to hit IR to start the campaign. He remained there all season due to a groin injury, allowing Cairo Santos to handle placekicking duties in Chicago. Pineiro didn't find a new home until May, when the Colts signed him to compete with Rodrigo Blankenship, but he was sent packing in the middle of the preseason. Once rosters were cut down last week, Washington signed him to the practice squad, but an unknown injury has resulted in him hitting the market again.

  • Joey Slye K | TEN

Texans' Joey Slye: Bumps to active roster

The Texans elevated Slye from the practice squad Saturday, independent NFL journalist Aaron Wilson reports.

Ka'imi Fairbairn missed Houston's exhibition finale with a minor injury, which was revealed to be a tweak of a leg muscle. Coach David Culley ruled Fairbairn out for Week 1 on Wednesday before the team placed him on IR shortly thereafter. Slye, whom the Texans signed to the practice squad this week, thus will handle placekicking duties Sunday and perhaps beyond. As the Panthers' primary kicker the past two seasons, he connected on 79.4 percent of field-goal attempts and 90.1 percent of his point-after tries.

  • Nick Folk K | ATL

Patriots' Nick Folk: Moves up to active roster

Folk was elevated to the active roster Saturday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.

The move essentially confirms rookie Quinn Nordin will have to wait to make his debut, but the team will likely make some sort of designation as to whom is actually starting closer to the late afternoon kickoff.
