Trey Lance QB | LAC
49ers' Trey Lance: Subs in for touchdown run
Lance completed six of 13 passes for 46 yards and rushed six times for eight yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-10 preseason win over the Raiders.
Lance watched Jimmy Garoppolo start, but he entered the game as a substitute a couple times during Garoppolo's two drives. In fact, Lance capped San Francisco's second offensive series by spelling Garoppolo and taking a zone-read play two yards into the end zone. The rookie then played into the third quarter, but he didn't have the best day as a passer. With his first preseason now complete, it'll be interesting to see how the third overall pick is utilized going forward. Right now, it seems most likely that Garoppolo will be named the Niners' starter, but Lance could very well feature often in certain packages like he did Sunday.

Jimmy Garoppolo QB | LAR
49ers' Jimmy Garoppolo: Scores on the ground
Garoppolo completed four of seven passes for 64 yards and rushed for a one-yard touchdown in Sunday's 34-10 preseason win over the Raiders.
Garoppolo started and capped San Francisco's opening drive with a scramble into the end zone off a bootleg pass play. The signal-caller then got the Niners into scoring position on their second series, which rookie Trey Lance paid off with a two-yard touchdown rush after subbing in. As a passer, however, Lance completed just six of 13 attempts for 46 yards. At this stage, it seems Garoppolo ultimately will be named the team's starter for Week 1's matchup against the Lions, but as coach Kyle Shanahan showed Sunday, Lance still may be incorporated in special situations.

Cooper Rush QB | BAL
Cowboys' Cooper Rush: Falls flat in preseason finale
Rush completed four of eight passes for 16 yards in Sunday's preseason loss to the Jaguars.
The 27-year-old got the start in the preseason finale but had no success moving the ball, although he was working with the Cowboys' second-team offensive line and skill players against Jacksonville's first-team defense. Garrett Gilbert replaced Rush after three series and only did a little better against the Jags' second-teamers, leaving the backup situation behind Dak Prescott (shoulder) just as murky as it was coming into the game. There's still a strong chance Dallas will find a veteran QB to be the team's No. 2 after rosters are cut down Tuesday rather than trusting either Gilbert or Rush, but the front office did miss a chance to acquire Gardner Minshew earlier this week for only a Day 3 draft pick in 2022, which suggests the team isn't willing to give up any kind of real asset to address the position.

Trevor Lawrence QB | JAC
Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Sharp in preseason finale
Prior to being replaced by C.J. Beathard, Lawrence completed 11 of 12 pass attempts for 139 yards and two TDs in Sunday's preseason finale against Dallas.
Though operating in a context in which numerous starters from both teams were not playing, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft ended his preseason on a high note and now will turn his focus to readying for Jacksonville's Week 1 tilt against Houston. While promising running back Travis Etienne (foot) is out for the season, Lawrence's cause as a rookie will be aided by the fact that he still has a capable top RB in James Robinson to work with, as well as a solid wideout trio -- DJ Chark (finger), Marvin Jones (shoulder) and Laviska Shenault -- to target in the passing game.

Russell Wilson QB | NYG
Seahawks' Russell Wilson: Doesn't play Saturday
Wilson didn't play in the Seahawks' final preseason game Saturday against the Chargers.
Wilson was expected to play about a quarter, but head coach Pete Carroll opted to keep the team's most valuable player on the sidelines for the final exhibition matchup. Even without Wilson on the field, we saw a glimpse of new OC Shane Waldron's system, according to Gregg Bell of The News Tribune. Waldron frequently utilized two tight-end sets, and he even got fullback Nick Bellore involved. Of course, we shouldn't draw too many conclusions from a preseason game. After all, no scheme is going to leave DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett (groin) off the field for more than a couple of snaps per game. With the defense more likely to take a step back than improve, Wilson should end up throwing plenty this season, regardless of the initial game plan.

Dak Prescott QB | DAL
Cowboys' Dak Prescott: On track for Week 1
Cowboys president Jerry Jones relayed Sunday that Prescott (shoulder) is "good to go" for the start of the regular season, Rob Phillips of the team's official site reports.
Though Prescott won't play in Sunday's preseason finale against the Jaguars, per Jane Slater of NFL Network, the QB isn't expected to be on a pitch count going forward. Jones also noted that Dallas' franchise signal-caller "really turned it loose" during recent practices and "was none the worse for it."

Trevor Lawrence QB | JAC
Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Expected to suit up Sunday
Lawrence isn't among the players listed by the Jaguars as not slated to suit up for Sunday's preseason finale versus the Cowboys, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
That said, it remains to be seen how much action Lawrence is on tap to see Sunday, but he already has been named the team's starting Week 1 QB, a decision that was followed by a trade that sent Gardner Minshew to the Eagles. Though promising running back Travis Etienne (foot) is out for the season, Lawrence, as a rookie, still has the capable James Robinson to hand off to as well as a solid wideout trio -- DJ Chark (finger), Marvin Jones (shoulder) and Laviska Shenault -- to throw to in 2021.

Teddy Bridgewater QB | DET
Broncos' Teddy Bridgewater: Uninspiring in preseason finale
Bridgewater completed six of his 11 passes for 62 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason game against the Rams.
Bridgewater led three drives for the first-team offense and played with most of the team's top skill-position players. He was unable to move the offense at all for the first two possessions but did get on track to lead a touchdown drive on his final opportunity. Bridgewater connected with Eric Saubert and Courtland Sutton for gains of 20 and 19 yards, respectively, before capping the drive with another completion to Sutton for an eight-yard score. Now, Bridgewater will head into the team's Week 1 matchup against the Giants entrenched as the team's starting quarterback.

Justin Fields QB | KC
Bears' Justin Fields: Solid finish to preseason
Fields completed seven of 10 passes for 54 yards and a touchdown while gaining 13 rushing yards on two carries in Saturday's preseason win over the Titans.
The rookie played the entire first half and while Fields was only able to put points on the board on one of his four drives, the Bears got a glimpse of the future on his TD pass as he scrambled to his right to buy time before putting the ball where only Jesper Horsted could grab it for a 20-yard score. Andy Dalton got the night off and remains the Week 1 starter, but it doesn't seem like it will be long before coach Matt Nagy hands the reins to Fields.

Kyle Allen QB | BUF
Football Team's Kyle Allen: Struggles against Ravens
Allen completed 10 of 22 passes for 100 yards in Saturday's preseason loss to Baltimore.
The Ravens played a bunch of starters, while Washington had a long list of players it held out, including some key backups. Still, Allen struggled, leading Washington to just three points while playing the first six drives of the game. He's the third quarterback behind Ryan Fitzpatrick and Taylor Heinicke, with his roster fate depending on how many signal-callers the team decides to keep. Saturday's performance won't help if it was a tough decision beforehand, but the team may also be patient with Allen given that he suffered a severe ankle injury last year. Either way, Heinicke is next in line for starts if Fitzpatrick gets injured or benched.
