Jimmy Garoppolo QB | LAR
49ers' Jimmy Garoppolo: Draws start in preseason finale
Coach Kyle Shanahan relayed that Garoppolo will start Sunday's preseason finale versus the Raiders, though Trey Lance will be "mixed in" with the first team to some degree during the contest, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
As Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News notes, Shanahan was open about his intentions regarding the team's starting QB for Sunday's game, but he declined to address who will get the nod in Week 1. At this stage, however, Garoppolo is the favorite to helm the team's offense versus the Lions on Sept. 12.

Marcus Mariota QB | WAS
Raiders' Marcus Mariota: Won't play in preseason finale
Coach Jon Gruden doesn't want to play Mariota in Sunday's preseason finale because he has not fully recovered from his quad injury, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
Mariota is cleared to play, but Gruden is hesitant to throw the quarterback -- due to his play style -- into preseason action until he is 100 percent recovered. The Oregon product doesn't appear to have suffered a setback, but rather the Raiders are just treating their backup quarterback's injury with an abundance of caution. In his only appearance last season, Mariota threw for 226 yards and ran for 88 more while scoring two total touchdowns. In his absence, Nathan Peterman is expected to play the entirety of Sunday's contest.

Nathan Peterman QB | ATL
Raiders' Nathan Peterman: Sunday start on tap
Peterman is slated to start Sunday's preseason finale against the 49ers, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
It appears as though the Raiders have no plans to play starting QB Derek Carr in the contest, with coach Jon Gruden noting that Peterman "will start and Peterman will finish, until I get better information." Also factoring into that plan is that the team would prefer not use Marcus Mariota this weekend, as he's been managing a quad issue. In the context outlined by Gruden's quote, Peterman looks like a player to consider Sunday in DFS formats.

Derek Carr QB | NO
Raiders' Derek Carr: Giving way to Peterman on Sunday
Carr's teammate, Nathan Peterman, is slated to start Sunday's preseason finale against the 49ers, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
The report notes that with Marcus Mariota managing a quad issue and the team preferring not to expose him to game contact due to his playing style, coach Jon Gruden says that Peterman "will start and Peterman will finish, until I get better information." Based on that comment, the Raiders have no plans to put Carr in harm's way this weekend, with his next game appearance destined to occur Sept. 13, when Las Vegas hosts Baltimore in a Monday Night Football matchup.

David Blough QB | DET
Lions' David Blough: Starting Friday night?
Blough appears in line for the start in Friday's preseason game against the Colts, Chris Burke of The Athletic reports.
Stephen Holder of The Athletic reports that Lions coach Dan Campbell told Colts coach Frank Reich he does not intend to play starters. With Jared Goff and others expected to sit, Blough and Tim Boyle will continue their competition for the No. 2 quarterback job. Boyle is listed second on the the team's depth chart, but the starting assignment Friday night might be a hint Blough has pushed ahead.

Kirk Cousins QB | LV
Vikings' Kirk Cousins: Could play Friday night
Coach Mike Zimmer said his plan for Friday's preseason game against the Chiefs will be similar to last week, suggesting Cousins and other starters could get a quarter or so of playing time, Eric Smith of the Vikings' official website reports.
Cousins completed five of seven passes for 23 yards in last week's preseason loss to the Colts, failing to produce any points on three drives while playing into the second quarter. He may be throwing to a crew of backups if he suits up Friday night, as Justin Jefferson (shoulder) and Adam Thielen (thigh) are still banged up, while Dalvin Cook could be rested even if most other starters play.

Baker Mayfield QB | TB
Browns' Baker Mayfield: In line to play Sunday
Mayfield is slated to see action in Sunday's preseason finale against the Falcons, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Coach Kevin Stefanski noted Friday that the Browns will have "some select starters" -- including Mayfield -- play in the contest, but added "there are other guys we are going to hold out." With that in mind, it's unclear how many snaps Mayfield might take Sunday, but we suspect that Cleveland's starting QB won't see extended work versus Atlanta.

Jameis Winston QB | NYG
Saints' Jameis Winston: Named starter in New Orleans
Winston has been named the Saints' starter for Week 1 against the Packers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
After a lengthy quarterback battle with Taysom Hill, it will be Winston who gets first crack at serving as Drew Brees' successor in New Orleans. Winston has been sharp all preseason and was particularly impressive Monday against the Jaguars, completing nine of 10 passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns. He will open the season as the starter, though Hill could still have a role in the offense.

Zach Wilson QB | NO
Jets' Zach Wilson: Likely to get more preseason run
Wilson is expected to play in the Jets' preseason finale Friday against the Eagles, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
Coach Robert Saleh wouldn't commit to how much Wilson may play, but did say he was leaning toward his rookie quarterback seeing some action. Wilson is the undoubted starter come the regular season, though it's understandable that the team wants him to get more game action under his belt. Between the first two preseason contests, Wilson has completed 15 of his 20 passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns.
