  • Bryce Young QB | CAR

Panthers' Bryce Young: Misses practice, still day-to-day

Young (ankle) didn't participate in Thursday's practice, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.

Per Newton, a Panthers team spokesperson said Thursday that Young remains day-to-day and has displayed some progress since suffering a right high-ankle sprain in this past Sunday's 13-6 win over the Jets. That said, Young has yet to practice this week and doesn't seem to be trending toward playing in this Sunday's matchup with the Bills. Andy Dalton has taken all of the reps with the first-team offense Wednesday and Thursday and will likely be named the Panthers' Week 8 starting quarterback following Friday's practice.

  • Lamar Jackson QB | BAL

Ravens' Lamar Jackson: At practice again Thursday

Jackson (right hamstring) participated in Thursday's practice, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.

After logging a limited session Wednesday, Jackson's continued presence at Thursday's practice is an encouraging sign as Sunday's game against the Bears approaches. Per Hensley, it appears as though the QB will remain limited, with the Ravens' upcoming injury report destined to reveal his official participation level.

  • Marcus Mariota QB | WAS

Commanders' Marcus Mariota: Another spot start in place of Daniels

Mariota will start Monday's game in Kansas City after coach Dan Quinn ruled out Jayden Daniels (hamstring) on Thursday.

Mariota entered in place of Daniels early in the second half of this past Sunday's eventual loss at Dallas, and the latter's low-grade right hamstring strain will keep him out at least one contest. In two starts plus roughly one more half of play this season, Mariota has completed 35 of 58 passes for 426 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions, turned 10 carries into 94 yards and one more TD and lost his only fumble.

  • Jayden Daniels QB | WAS

Commanders' Jayden Daniels: Won't play in Week 8

Coach Dan Quinn said Thursday that Daniels (hamstring) has been ruled out for Monday's game at Kansas City.

Daniels missed most of the second half of this past Sunday's game at Dallas due to a hamstring injury, and after undergoing an MRI on Monday, it was revealed to be a low-grade strain of his right hamstring. As of Wednesday, he wasn't trending in the right direction to play Week 8, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, and Quinn confirmed as much one day later. The Commanders made the decision so that Daniels can focus only on rehab and treatment this week and that the issue isn't a long-term one, as Quinn told John Keim of ESPN.com. Marcus Mariota will make his third start of the season in place of Daniels on Monday.

  • Buccaneers' Teddy Bridgewater: Doesn't practice Wednesday

Bridgewater (teeth) did not participate in Wednesday's walkthrough practice, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.

Bridgewater was able to serve as the Buccaneers' backup QB for Monday's loss against the Lions after overcoming an illness, but he popped up on Wednesday's report with a new injury. He'll have two more chances to return to practice ahead of Sunday's NFC South tilt against the Saints.

  • Sam Ehlinger QB | DEN

Broncos' Sam Ehlinger: Back on Denver's active roster

The Broncos signed Ehlinger from the practice squad to the active roster Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports.

Ehlinger opted to stay in Denver on the practice squad after being cut Friday, and he's back on the active roster in the spot vacated by Dre Greenlaw (suspension). Ehlinger will serve as the Broncos' QB3 behind starter Bo Nix and backup Jarrett Stidham.

  • Falcons' Michael Penix: Limited by knee injury

Penix (knee) was limited at Wednesday's walkthrough, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports.

Coach Raheem Morris said Monday that Penix came out of Sunday's 20-10 loss in San Francisco with a bone bruise in his foot/ankle, per Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site. Morris then told Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com on Wednesday that Penix was "day-to-day" before the Falcons listed him with a knee injury on the first Week 8 practice report. No matter the nature of the issue, Morris feels good about the second-year quarterback ahead of the weekend, according to Raimondi, but Kirk Cousins is waiting in the wings in the event Penix isn't able to suit up Sunday against the Dolphins.

  • Buccaneers' Baker Mayfield: Tending to knee issue

Mayfield was limited at Wednesday's walkthrough due to a knee injury, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.

Mayfield was stymied by the Lions defense in Monday's 24-9 loss, completing 28 of 50 passes for 228 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He also didn't record a carry after being effective as a scrambler through the first six games of the campaign. Perhaps the knee issue was partly responsible, and he'll now have two chances to get back to full this week or else risk entering the weekend with a designation for Sunday's contest at New Orleans.

  • Lamar Jackson QB | BAL

Ravens' Lamar Jackson: Logs limited practice

Jackson was officially limited at practice Wednesday.

In his first practice since injuring his right hamstring in a Sept. 28 loss to Kansas City, Jackson was eased back into the mix, per Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com, while taking QB reps along with Cooper Rush and Tyler Huntley. When asked about Jackson's status for Sunday's game against the Bears, coach John Harbaugh noted Wednesday that "it's hard to put a number on it. I don't have any shareable injury intelligence." Jackson now has two more chances to practice fully before the Ravens post their Week 8 injury designations Friday afternoon.

  • J.J. McCarthy QB | MIN

Vikings' J.J. McCarthy: Officially questionable for Week 8

McCarthy (ankle) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game at the Chargers.

Coach Kevin O'Connell announced Tuesday that McCarthy was slated to serve as the emergency third quarterback Week 8 for a second consecutive contest, meaning he'll be inactive and designated as such once the Vikings post their list about 90 minutes before Thursday's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff. O'Connell also told Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com that McCarthy's on-field workout Tuesday was "just not there" but could have been if Minnesota had a Sunday game on tap. In any case, Carson Wentz (left shoulder) will get the start Thursday while McCarthy will turn his focus to a Week 9 road matchup against the Lions on Sunday, Nov. 2.
