Patrick Mahomes QB | KC
Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes: Won't play Sunday
Mahomes (kneecap) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Vikings, BJ Kissel of the Chiefs' official site reports.
With Mahomes inactive Sunday, Matt Moore will draw another start at QB for the Chiefs, while Chad Henne (ankle) is slated to serve as his backup. On the plus side, Mahomes has progressed to the point where it looks like he has a realistic chance to return to action in Week 10 against the Titans.

Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes: Not expected to play Week 9
Mahomes (kneecap), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings, isn't expected to play, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Though Mahomes is progressing much faster than anticipated from his dislocated right kneecap, returning from the injury was always going to be a tough ask. With Mahomes in line to be included among the Chiefs' seven inactives Sunday, Matt Moore will garner another start. Downgrade Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill and the rest of the Chiefs' skill players accordingly.

Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes: Could play in Week 9
Mahomes (knee) has a "chance to play" Sunday against the Vikings, Ed Werder of ESPN reports.
This appears to counter an earlier report from Ian Rapoport of NFL Network which suggested the star quarterback was unlikely to play Sunday, although both sources emphasized Mahomes' status will depend on how well he's able to move prior to the 1 p.m. EST kickoff. Matt Moore and newly activated Chad Henne (ankle) will be available in the event that Mahomes, who dislocated his right knee cap Oct. 17, is eventually ruled out.

Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes: Not expected to start
Mahomes (knee) is not expected to start Sunday against the Vikings, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Mahomes is expected to work out on the field prior to the game, but it seems unlikely the electric third-year quarterback will play Sunday, reinforced by the fact the Chiefs activated Chad Henne (ankle) from injured reserve with the intent to back up Matt Moore. While the initial timeline following Mahomes' injury waffled anywhere from two-to-five weeks of absence, it certainly appears as if the 2018 MVP is not expected to be out for a lengthy amount of time given Saturday's news.

Deshaun Watson QB | CLE
Texans' Deshaun Watson: Practices with visor
Watson wore a visor to protect his eye during the practice week leading up to Week 9 against the Jaguars in London, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Watson suffered an injury to his eye last week when he was accidentally kicked there by Oakland defensive end Arden Key. Since then, the quarterback has been dealing with swelling and a bloodshot eye. Watson, who wore a visor in high school, college and the offseason since joining the Texans, is contemplating whether or not to wear the visor for Sunday's game. He added there are no issues with his vision.

Sam Darnold QB | SEA
Jets' Sam Darnold: Cleared to play
Darnold (thumb) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game in Miami, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Darnold was a full practice participant from Wednesday through Friday, paving the way for him to play in an optimal matchup this weekend against the winless Dolphins. Coach Adam Gase mentioned that this thumb injury could bother Darnold for the rest of the year, but a sprain on his non-throwing hand won't keep the quarterback out of action.

Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes: Listed as questionable for Week 9
Mahomes (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings after practicing in a limited fashion all week.
At this stage, there hasn't been much of an indication from coach Andy Reid whether Mahomes is truly questionable or closer to doubtful, but the reigning MVP evidently has a shot to defy the odds and suit up this weekend. Look for plenty of coverage pertaining to his status leading up to game time, which fortunately arrives at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday. In the event Mahomes is sidelined for a second straight contest, Matt Moore would garner another start.

Brett Rypien QB | MIN
Broncos' Brett Rypien: Promoted to active roster
Rypien was promoted to the Broncos' 53-man roster from the practice squad Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Rypien failed to make Denver's season-opening roster but quickly signed with the practice squad after being waived, and he'll now have the chance to serve as the No. 2 quarterback with Joe Flacco (neck) heading to injured reserve. Brandon Allen will step in as the starter, though Drew Lock (thumb) is expected to return from IR in Week 11 and could receive a starting look at some point.

Colt McCoy QB | ARI
Redskins' Colt McCoy: Will be active Sunday
McCoy will serve as Washington's backup quarterback Sunday at Buffalo, JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington reports.
Dwayne Haskins is set to make the first start of his career with Case Keenum (concussion) sidelined, thrusting McCoy into the No. 2 role. McCoy has been a healthy scratch since starting Week 5, when he completed 18 of 27 passes for 122 yards and one interception.

Case Keenum QB | CHI
Redskins' Case Keenum: Replaced by Haskins, for now
Keenum (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game at Buffalo, JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington reports.
Keenum practiced on a limited basis throughout the week, but Dwayne Haskins got most of the reps with the first-team offense. With Keenum not being able to clear the concussion protocol, Haskins will step in for his first NFL start, with Colt McCoy serving as the backup. It isn't clear if Keenum will return to the starting job once he's cleared of the concussion.
