Case Keenum QB | CHI
Redskins' Case Keenum: Disastrous in primetime defeat
Keenum completed 30 of 43 passes for 331 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions in Monday night's 31-15 loss to the Bears. He also fumbled three times, losing two of them.
Keenum was constantly under pressure, ultimately resulting in him being sacked four times, but hardly helped himself with poor passes and decisions throughout the night. The veteran threw a pick-six on Washington's first offensive drive, then turned it over twice more before halftime. He then was intercepted on the opening series of the second half as well. Although he'd rally with back-to-back touchdown passes immediately after, an ill-advised quarterback sneak attempt saw him stripped on a big fourth-quarter play. That mishap gave Keenum his first career five-turnover game, which should only increase the pressure on the Redskins to promote rookie first-rounder Dwayne Haskins to starter. Whether that happens remains to be seen, but it could be an interesting situation to monitor ahead of Week 4's matchup against the Giants.

Mitch Trubisky QB | TEN
Bears' Mitchell Trubisky: Throws three touchdowns in win
Trubisky completed 25 of 31 passes for 231 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in Monday night's 31-15 win over the Redskins.
Trubisky left some completions out there, but it was still a vastly improved performance after an uninspiring first two games of the season. He found Taylor Gabriel from three yards for his first touchdown of the campaign, then returned to Gabriel for two more scores, all during the second quarter. That included a superb 36-yard connection in the final minute before halftime, showcasing his ability to make plays on the run. Although a lousy fourth-quarter interception from the Redskins' six-yard line added a sour note toward the end, Trubisky can still be relatively pleased with his bounce-back performance in Week 3.

Sam Darnold QB | SEA
Jets' Sam Darnold: On track for Week 5
Darnold (illness) said Monday that he'll begin light cardio during the Jets' bye week with the hope of returning to action for the team's Week 5 game Oct. 6 in Philadelphia, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Darnold continues to notice gradual improvement since coming down with a case of mononucleosis nearly two week ago, but the quarterback has yet to receive full medical clearance while he contends with an enlarged spleen as a result of the illness. Assuming things improve on that front in the next few days, Darnold will undergo follow-up tests early next week before potentially returning to practice coming out of the bye. Luke Falk drew his first career start in Sunday's loss to the Patriots and would be in store for another turn under center Week 5 if Darnold isn't ready to go by then.

Kyle Allen QB | BUF
Panthers' Kyle Allen: Locked in for another start
Allen will get another start Week 4 against the Texans, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Allen's success in Sunday's 38-20 win over Arizona may have contributed to the Panthers' decision to rule out Newton (foot) so early in the week. There was some talk of the 30-year-old quarterback returning to practice Wednesday, but he'll now be rested for at least one more game. Allen gets another matchup against a shaky pass defense, with the Texans allowing quarterbacks to complete 70.5 percent of their throws for 7.4 YPA and five touchdowns through three games.

Baker Mayfield QB | TB
Browns' Baker Mayfield: Struggles in defeat
Mayfield completed 18 of 36 pass attempts for 195 yards, a touchdown and an interception in Sunday's 20-13 loss to the Rams.
Mayfield picked an inopportune time to have his worst game of the young season, as the Browns' defense gave its offense plenty of opportunities to pull off an upset. The second-year quarterback was under duress all game, and only found success on short throws, struggling to connect with his wideouts when dropping back deep in the pocket. ESPN's Jeff Trotter brought up the issue of Mayfield's struggles when holding onto the ball more than 2.5 seconds earlier this week, and Sunday's results reflected those early trends. The 24-year-old was averaging over 300 passing yards through his first two games, but his 3:5 TD:INT ratio will be harder to swallow when he posts yardage totals like Sunday's. Things won't get much easier for Mayfield in his next matchup against an athletic Ravens defensive unit.
-
Jared Goff QB | DET
Rams' Jared Goff: Finishes strong to lead team to win
Goff completed 24 of 38 pass attempts for 269 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's 20-13 victory over the Browns.
Goff struggled to get things going against the Browns' tough front four, but he was able to find his rhythm in the second half with a pair of key touchdown drives. The 24-year-old had to improvise at times behind shoddy offensive line play, and that unit is going to have to improve drastically if we are going to see the elite passing numbers fantasy owners became accustomed to last season. Luckily for Goff's owners, the signal caller gets a favorable matchup this Sunday against a Buccaneers secondary that was just torched for 300-plus yards by rookie Daniel Jones.

Jimmy Garoppolo QB | LAR
49ers' Jimmy Garoppolo: Overcomes turnover plague in win
Garoppolo completed 23 of 32 passes for 277 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions in Sunday's 24-20 win over the Steelers.
The QB also lost a fumble, accounting for three of the Niners' five turnovers on the day, but Garoppolo was still able to kick the offense into gear after heading to halftime down 6-3. At some point, he's going to need to show better ball security -- he has a career 17:12 TD:INT through 12 games with San Francisco -- but with the team off to a 3-0 start, the warts in Garoppolo's game will get overlooked for now. The Niners will take next week off before returning from their bye to host the Browns in Week 5.
-
Mason Rudolph QB | PIT
Steelers' Mason Rudolph: Erratic in first start
Rudolph completed 14 of 27 passes for 174 yards and two touchdowns with one interception in Sunday's 24-20 loss to the 49ers.
He also ran the ball four times for 15 yards. Rudolph appeared trapped in a caretaker role for most of the first half as coach Mike Tomlin tried to get by on the team's running game, but once the Steelers fell behind in the second half, the second-year QB started taking some shots downfield and was rewarded with long TD tosses to JuJu Smith-Schuster and Diontae Johnson. With the jitters of his first NFL start behind him, Rudolph will look to post better numbers in Week 4 against a Bengals defense that's had trouble slowing anyone down to date.
-
Teddy Bridgewater QB | DET
Saints' Teddy Bridgewater: Clearly top option under center
Bridgewater completed 19 of 27 pass attempts for 177 yards and two touchdowns in Week 3 against the Seahawks. He also rushed the ball three times for 12 yards.
Bridgewater was helped by his defense and special teams, as the units put the first two touchdowns on the board for the Saints. However, he went on to orchestrate consecutive touchdown drives -- one to end the first half and the other to begin the second -- that put the team up big. Bridgewater didn't work down the field extensively by averaging only 6.6 yards per attempt, but did enough to post a respectable line while also maintaining the value of both Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara. Perhaps most importantly, Bridgewater appears to be the clear starter and primary quarterback in the absence of Drew Brees (thumb) as Taysom Hill did not attempt a pass and rushed the ball just once for five yards. Bridgewater will look to keep things going in a primetime matchup Week 4 against the Cowboys.

Jameis Winston QB | NYG
Buccaneers' Jameis Winston: Throws three TD passes
Winston completed 23 of 37 pass attempts for 380 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception during Sunday's 32-31 loss to the Giants.
Winston completed 62 percent of his pass attempts and averaged a healthy 10.3 yards per attempt thanks to some big gains through the air. He completed three touchdown passes to Mike Evans in the first half but his lone interception was equally important, coming while his team was marching toward the red zone in the fourth quarter. All in all, it was a much-improved performance from Winston, who averaged just 201 passing yards with three turnovers over the first two games. He'll face a tougher challenge on the road against the Rams next Sunday.
