Hunter Dekkers: Back on practice squad

Joe Burrow QB | CIN
Bengals' Joe Burrow: Set to undergo toe surgery soon
Burrow is on track to undergo a procedure Friday to repair his Grade 3 turf toe, provided that swelling isn't an issue, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Rapoport notes that it's possible that the procedure could get pushed back a few days, but once the surgery happens, the QB will face an estimated three-month recovery. That's a timetable that could allow for a late-season return for Burrow, but for the time being Jake Browning will fill in as Cincinnati's top signal-caller, with Brett Rypien set to serve as his backup and Mike White and Sean Clifford currently on the team's practice squad.

Brock Purdy QB | SF
49ers' Brock Purdy: Officially limited in return to practice
Purdy (left shoulder/toe) officially was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
Purdy fulfilled coach Kyle Shanahan's expectation for his activity level from earlier Wednesday, per Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle. During the media-access portion of the session, Purdy was third in the QB rotation behind Mac Jones and Adrian Martinez, according to Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News, and he was seen making throws and also jogging on what has been described as a turf toe variant, per Branch. Purdy thus seemingly has a chance to return to action Sunday versus the Cardinals, but how he fares Thursday and Friday will be telling for his Week 3 availability. Mac Jones will continue to start as long as Purdy is sidelined.

Dekkers was signed and cut by New Orleans multiple times over the offseason and has already bounced on and off the practice squad three times since the start of Week 1.

Joe Burrow QB | CIN
Bengals' Joe Burrow: Could return late in season
Bengals coach Zac Taylor said Wednesday that he hasn't shut the door on Burrow (toe) returning this season, ESPN.com's Ben Baby reports.
Multiple reports have suggested a recovery timeline of around three months once Burrow undergoes surgery to address his toe injury. If accurate, that would make him unlikely to play until the very end of the regular season, if at all. Taylor, however, said he's ruling Burrow out only for the next four weeks -- the required minimum for the QB's stint on injured reserve. Jake Browning will take over as Cincinnati's starting QB in the meantime.

Max Brosmer QB | MIN
Vikings' Max Brosmer: Set for backup duties Week 3
Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell said Wednesday that Brosmer will operate as the No. 2 quarterback behind Carson Wentz during Sunday's game against the Bengals, Ben Goessling of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
Brosmer spent the first two weeks of the regular season handling emergency No. 3 quarterback duties, but with J.J. McCarthy (ankle) now likely out at least two weeks, he's set for a temporary promotion behind Wentz. Meanwhile, new roster addition Desmond Ridder will work as the No. 3 quarterback versus Cincinnati on Sunday.

Brock Purdy QB | SF
49ers' Brock Purdy: In line for limited practice
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Purdy (toe/shoulder) will be limited at Wednesday's practice, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Purdy emerged from a Week 1 win at Seattle with a turf toe variant, which sidelined him this past Sunday in New Orleans. As the 49ers begin preparations for Sunday's home opener against the Cardinals, Shanahan is giving Purdy "a chance" to return to action, even as the emergency third quarterback, per Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com. As a result, it appears Purdy and fill-in Week 2 starter Mac Jones are in consideration to lead San Francisco's offense Week 3.

Jayden Daniels QB | WAS
Commanders' Jayden Daniels: No practice Wednesday or Thursday
Daniels (knee) won't practice any earlier than Friday this week, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Commanders coach Dan Quinn said Daniels won't practice Wednesday or Thursday, instead focusing on rehab for the knee sprain he suffered last Thursday in Green Bay. The extra time off in between games helps his cause, but Daniels nonetheless appears in danger of missing Sunday's game against Las Vegas. Marcus Mariota will get the start at QB if Daniels doesn't.

Commanders' Jayden Daniels: No practice Wednesday
Commanders coach Dan Quinn said Daniels (knee) won't practice Wednesday but "had a good rehab session today and threw out on the field," Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Daniels is considered day-to-day after suffering a knee sprain during last Thursday's loss to the Packers. He now has two chances left to upgrade to at least limited practice activity before being tagged with a tentative injury designation for Sunday's home matchup against the Raiders. Backup Marcus Mariota will step up under center in the event that Daniels isn't cleared to suit up Week 3.
