Bills' Tyrod Taylor: Week 9 is the target

Coach Rex Ryan said Friday that he expects Taylor - who's about to miss his second game with a sprained MCL - back in the lineup in Week 9 after the bye, BuffaloBills.com reports.

Taylor practiced on a limited basis Wednesday, so he seems close. With two more weeks to rest, we're almost certain he'll be back out there when the Bills take on the Dolphins in Week 9.

  • Titans QB Marcus Mariota sidelined Sunday

A knee problem has Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota ruled out for Sunday.

That declaration by Ken Whisenhunt sets the stage for Zach Mettenberger to draw the start in Week 7.

  • Russell Wilson QB | NYG

Seahawks' Russell Wilson: Struggles in second half

Wilson completed 18 of 24 passes for 235 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions in Sunday's 20-3 win over the 49ers. He added 20 yards on seven carries.

Wilson appeared to be on his way to an excellent game after he hit Tyler Lockett for a 43-yard touchdown to give the Seahawks a 17-0 lead with just under three minutes remaining in the first half. Wilson struggled from that point forward, throwing one bad interception right before halftime and another midway through the third quarter. He was also sacked five times, with the Seattle offensive line once again struggling to protect the passer. Wilson will eventually have a big game, but given the current state of Seattle's offense, it's hard to see that happening without a bunch of his production coming on the ground. The Seahawks head to Dallas in Week 8.

  • Marcus Mariota QB | WAS

Titans QB Marcus Mariota misses practice again

An ailing knee prevented Titans rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota from practicing Thursday.

Ken Whisenhunt relayed, however, that he's pleased with Mariota's progress, while adding that "we'll have a lot more information" on his status Friday.

While Mariota has described his chances of playing Sunday against the Falcons as "pretty good," we'd expect the Titans to proceed cautiously with the long haul in mind.

Bills' Tyrod Taylor: Still dealing with knee soreness

Coach Rex Ryan relayed that while Taylor "did a nice job" at practice Wednesday, while splitting QB reps with EJ Manuel, Taylor "still has some soreness" in his knee at this stage.

As a result, Manuel will make his second consecutive start this Sunday when the Bills take on the Jaguars at Wembley Stadium in London. Considering Taylor's recent progress, with the Bills on bye next week, a Week 9 return against the Dolphins seems like a plausible outcome for Taylor

Bills QB EJ Manuel in, Tyrod Taylor out for Sunday

Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor(knee) has been ruled out for the Week 7 game against Jacksonville. Rex Ryan has declared EJ Manuel as the starter.

Taylor logged a limited practice Wednesday in which he split reps with Manuel, but the results of that session apparently did not go as well as planned. Fantasy owners should monitor Taylor's status closely in advance of a Week 8 matchup against Cincinnati.

  • Marcus Mariota QB | WAS

Titans QB Marcus Mariota misses practice, hopes to play Sunday

Titans rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota (knee) did not practice Wednesday.

The Week 7 status of Mariota, who suffered a sprained left MCL this past Sunday, will be determined later in the week, per Ken Whisenhunt. While Mariota is hopeful with regard to his chances of playing this week against the Falcons, he admitted Wednesday that he is "going to continue to take it day by day and see how it goes."

Bills QB Tyrod Taylor limited at practice Wednesday

Bills starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor (knee) was listed as a limited practice participant Wednesday.

With regard to his status for Sunday's game against the Jaguars in London, Taylor split reps with EJ Manuel and noted that his knee is "feeling good" and that he's "taking it day-by-day," as he is "mentally getting ready for Jacksonville."

Bills QB Tyrod Taylor expects to practice Wednesday

Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor (knee) expects to practice Wednesday, Tyler Dunne of The Buffalo News reports.

Taylor sat out last week's loss to the Bengals due to his knee injury, but he said he is "progressing each and every day" and is feeling good.

Whether or not he will be able to return to action in Week 7 will likely depend on how much work he is able to get in at practice over the next few days, but a final call on his availability may not come until early Sunday morning.

  • Brian Hoyer QB | LV

Texans' Brian Hoyer: Coach makes him permanent starter

Houston head coach Bill O'Brien said Hoyer is the team's starter going forward, the Houston Chronicle reports.

While it may have been assumed that Hoyer was the team's starter, O'Brien had named him the starting quarterback for the Jacksonville game only when he made the shift from Ryan Mallett after the Indianapolis game in Week 5. The more permanent status should allay any concerns for fantasy owners when it comes to speculating on Houston's quarterback.
