Raiders head coach Dennis Allen told reporters that the team will have a plan in place early in the week for their starting quarterback. When asked if he'll announce the starter then, Allen said he hasn't "given that much thought," according to the Bay Area News Group.

What Allen did note is that he won't make a decision until he sees where Matt Schaub is physically on Monday. Schaub was not at the team's practice facility on Friday due to personal issues.

Rookie Derek Carr compiled 326 yards through the air while completing 30 of 45 passes, with four touchdowns and one interception this preseason.

Titans backup quarterback Charlie Whitehurst is expected back in practice on Monday, the Tennessean reports.

"I think we'll know a little bit more as we get to next week, but I don't anticipate that anybody will be missing practice next week," head coach Ken Whisenhunt said. "Once again, I can't speak until something that may happen between now and then, but I don't anticipate that."

The Jaguars have parted with 15 players Friday.

Offensive linemen Michael Brewster and Drew Nowak were among the casualties. Defensive end Gerald Rivers and QB Ricky Stanzi were also cut. The team also parted ways with WR Chad Bumphis, FB Eric Kettani, TE Brandon Barden, OL Cody Booth, DL Deandre Coleman, DT Ricky Havili-Heimuli, S Craig Loston, QB Stephen Morris, K Kasey Redfern, OL Tyler Shatley, TE D.J. Tialavea and LB Marcus Whitfield.

The Jaguars have waived rookie quarterback Stephen Morris, but plan on finding a spot on the practice squad for him, per Pro Football Talk.

The former University of Miami standout completed 16 of 25 passes for 120 yards in the preseason.

Dennis Allen has seemingly softened on his stance that veteran Matt Schaub is set as the starting quarterback for the Raiders.

An elbow injury to Schaub and the continued brilliant preseason performance of rookie Derek Carr might have altered the thinking of the coach. Carr completed 11 of 13 passes for 143 yards and three touchdowns in just 22 snaps in a Thursday night defeat of Seattle.

"I really like where we're at in the quarterback room," Allen said per CSNBayarea.com. "The biggest things is that we'll have to see where Matt is when he comes in on Monday."

Raiders rookie quarterback Derek Carr made a pretty strong case for himself to win the starting job during Thursday's preseason finale against the Seahawks.

Carr led the team to four touchdown drives, most of which came against Seattle's first unit. He hooked up with Denarius Moore for scores of 36 and 11 yards. He also fired a 20-yard touchdown pass to Mychal Rivera.

Carr completed 11 of 14 passes for 143 yards, with three touchdowns and no interceptions, finishing with a 152.1 passer rating. This preseason, the rookie signal-caller compiled 326 yards through the air while completing 30 of 45 passes. He added four touchdowns and one interception.

49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters that quarterback Blaine Gabbert had X-rays on his right shoulder, which came back negative.

Gabbert worked five drives in the first half before leaving the game. He is competing with Josh Johnson for the No. 2 job behind Colin Kaepernick. Harbaugh indicated that he would like three quarterbacks on the 53-man active roster.

The following starters will not suit up for the Lions Thursday night against the Bills: Quarterback Matthew Stafford, receivers Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate, running back Reggie Bush, center Dominic Raiola, guard Rob Sims and tight end Brandon Pettigrew, defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, cornerback Rashean Mathis, defensive end Jason Jones, safeties James Ihedigbo and Don Carey and linebacker Kyle Van Noy.

Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill will catch a breather for the Thursday night preseason finale against St. Louis. Matt Moore is set to start instead.

Tannehill has completed 28 of 41 passes for 291 yards with one touchdown and one interception in exhibition play. Moore has performed well at 25 of 38 for 330 yards and two scores.
