    Bills vague about Week 17 starting quarterback

    Bills coach Doug Marrone said he wants to see how rookie EJ Manuel's knee responds to Tuesday's practice before deciding on a starting quarterback for Week 17 at New England, reports the Buffalo News. Marrone did say Manuel threw the ball well.

    If Manuel isn't ready, Thad Lewis would make his second straight start and fifth overall.

    Terrelle Pryor in, Matt McGloin out for Week 17

    Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor has returned to the starting job with which he began the year. Dennis Allen announced that he will replace recent starter Matt McGloin with Pryor for the season finale against Denver.

    Pryor threw eight interceptions and just one touchdown in four starts from Weeks 6-10, but McGloin also struggled after a strong start. He threw for four scores and eight picks in his last five games, all losses.

    Wade Phillips yet to decide on starter if Case Keenum out

    Wade Phillips has yet to decide who will start at quarterback for the Texans in Week 17 at Tennessee if Case Keenum (thumb) is inactive, per the Houston Chronicle.

    Phillips will choose between T.J. Yates and Matt Schaub, who completed 18 of 37 passes for 176 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in the Sunday loss to Denver.

    Return of Aaron Rodgers to be discussed

    Mike McCarthy said Monday he will this week discuss with Packers general manager Ted Thompson the possibility of quarterback Aaron Rodgers returning for the critical game Sunday against Chicago.

    Rodgers has missed the last seven games with a broken collarbone, though he returned to practice on Nov. 26.

    Tyrod Taylor sees some fourth-quarter snaps in Week 16 loss

    Ravens backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor took over for Joe Flacco late in the fourth quarter and completed 1 of 4 passes for 2 yards with and one interception in Week 16 against New England.

    His first snap was botched, and the Patriots recovered in the end zone. He was then picked off by Tavon Wilson, who also returned it for a score. Taylor rushed for 39 yards on three carries in a 41-7 defeat.

  • Bengals get small contributions

    Bengals wide receiver Andrew Hawkins had a big 34-yard catch to set up the team's sixth and final touchdown Week 16 against the Vikings, but he was a relatively small contributor on the day, finishing with three catches for 37 yards.

    Likewise, running back Cedric Peerman had two carries for 6 yards, and quarterback Josh Johnson, who spelled starter Andy Dalton late in a blowout win, had four carries for 3 yards.

  • Costly mistake eliminates postseason hopes for Matthew Stafford

    Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford continued his struggles as he was held out of the end zone during Sunday’s overtime loss to the Giants in Week 16.

    Stafford was picked off by Justin Tuck late in the second quarter. He was then picked off by Will Hill, who returned it back for a touchdown, erasing a seven-point advantage in the fourth quarter. Stafford has 11 interceptions over the last five games. He completed 25 of 42 passes for 222 yards, with no touchdowns and two interceptions in a 23-20 overtime defeat.

    The Lions, who are now eliminated from playoff contention, will end the season at Minnesota next Sunday.

    Matt McGloin throws no touchdowns

    After tossing a pair of touchdowns in each of his previous two games, Raiders quarterback Matt McGloin did not produce any scores in the Week 16 loss at San Diego. He finished 20 of 36 for 207 yards with an interception, adding a 5-yard run.

    In seven games, McGloin has accounted for eight touchdowns and nine turnovers. He's completed under 60 percent of his throws in three straight games. McGloin should have had a late touchdown pass, but fullback Marcel Reece dropped it.

    McGloin plays the Broncos in Week 17.

    Russell Wilson barely cracks 100 yards passing Week 16

    Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson was not at his best as he barely cracked 100 passing yards in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals in Week 16.

    WIlson bought some time out of the pocket and found Zach Miller wide open in the corner of the end zone for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. With a chance to tie the game, Wilson had a tipped pass picked off by Karlos Dansby with 1:56 remaining in the fourth quarter.

    Wilson completed 11 of 27 passes for 108 yards, with one touchdown and one interception. He was sacked four times and finished with a 49.6 passer rating. He also chipped in with two carries for 32 yards on the ground in a 17-10 defeat.

    The Seahawks will host the Rams in Week 17.

    The Eagles listed these players as inactive for the game vs. Chicago: quarterback Matt Barkley, safeties Colt Anderson (knee) and Kurt Coleman (hamstring), cornerback Curtis Marsh, running back Matthew Tucker, and offensive tackles Matt Tobin and Dennis Kelly.
