Graham Mertz QB | HOU
Texans' Graham Mertz: Finishes up preseason opener
Mertz completed seven of 14 attempts for 27 yards and threw three interceptions in Saturday's 20-10 preseason loss to Minnesota.
Mertz, a sixth-round draft pick out of the University of Florida in the 2025 NFL Draft, was the third quarterback used in the game following Davis Mills and Kedon Slovis. He entered in the middle of the third quarter and threw all three picks in the fourth quarter.

Tua Tagovailoa QB | MIA
Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa: Available for preseason opener
Tagovailoa was suited up during pregame warmups and will be available for Sunday's preseason opener against the Bears, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Zach Wilson and Quinn Ewers also are dressed. Tagovailoa likely will be limited to one or two series in Sunday's contest, and he'll be without Tyreek Hill (oblique) and Jaylen Waddle, though De'Von Achane looks to be available. Tagovailoa is looking to bounce back from an injury-riddled 2024 campaign in which he completed 72.9 percent of his passes for 2,867 yards, 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions across 11 regular-season games.

Adrian Martinez QB | NYJ
Jets' Adrian Martinez: Strong second half Saturday
Martinez completed 11 of 16 passes for 152 yards and a touchdown while rushing twice for 13 yards in Saturday's 30-10 preseason win over the Packers.
Martinez played the entire second half and put forth a strong performance, including a 24-yard touchdown pass to Stone Smartt in the third quarter. Rookie Brady Cook notably came into the game earlier than Martinez, but Martinez had the stronger statistical showing. The battle for the third spot on the Jets' quarterback depth chart between Martinez and Cook will continue in the second preseason game Aug. 16 against the Giants.

Brady Cook QB | NYJ
Jets' Brady Cook: Second QB into Saturday's game
Cook completed six of eight passes for 62 yards and rushed once for minus-five yards in Saturday's 30-10 preseason win over the Packers.
With Tyrod Taylor (knee) sitting out, Cook was the second quarterback into the game for the Jets after starter Justin Fields played the opening drive. Cook played the remainder of the first half before being replaced by Adrian Martinez, who threw for 152 yards and a touchdown in the second half. The competition for the third spot on the quarterback depth chart between Cook -- who signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Missouri in April -- and the 2024 UFL MVP Martinez will continue in the team's next preseason game, Aug. 16 against the Giants.

Bo Nix QB | DEN
Broncos' Bo Nix: Quiet start to preseason
Nix completed six of 11 passes for 31 yards in the Broncos' 30-9 preseason win over the 49ers on Saturday night.
Nix averaged a meager 2.8 yards per attempt but certainly got his reps in during Denver's exhibition opener. The second-year signal-caller spread the ball around during his time in the contest, connecting with Troy Franklin, J.K. Dobbins, Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims and RJ Harvey, albeit with none of those completions going for longer than nine yards. Nix ended up playing early into the second quarter, but given the middling results for the first-team offense, he's likely in for another solid allotment of playing time in the Broncos' second preseason contest next Saturday night at home against the Cardinals.

Stetson Bennett QB | LAR
Rams' Stetson Bennett: Tosses two TDs on Saturday
Bennett completed 16 of 24 passes for 188 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Saturday's 31-21 preseason win over the Cowboys. He also rushed three times for 11 yards.
Bennett player the entire game, with neither Matthew Stafford (back) nor Jimmy Garoppolo suiting up. The third-string quarterback led touchdown drives on each of the Rams' first two possessions, though both were capped by Blake Corum touchdown runs. Bennett was picked off in the third quarter, then finished strong with fourth-quarter touchdown passes of nine yards to Cody Schrader and five yards to Brennan Presley. Bennett seems locked into the third spot on the depth chart ahead of the team's second preseason game Aug. 16 against the Chargers.

Kyler Murray QB | ARI
Cardinals' Kyler Murray: Exceeds 100 total yards Saturday
Murray completed seven of eight passes for 96 yards with no touchdowns and one interception while adding two rushes for nine yards during the Cardinals' 20-17 preseason win over the Chiefs on Saturday night.
Murray's night got off to a rousing start in the form of 12- and 15-yard completions to Michael Wilson and Marvin Harrison, respectively, which he bookended with his pair of scrambles. However, Murray's third pass attempt -- intended for Harrison -- was picked off, although he bounced back to lead a 10-play, 67-yard march on his next possession that culminated in a field goal. Murray had several more noteworthy connections during the drive, including a 21-yard strike to Trey McBride and two completions to Greg Dortch that totaled that amount as well. The interception aside, it was a positive start to the preseason for the veteran signal-caller, who'll next face the Broncos on the road next Saturday night in Arizona's second preseason tilt.

Patrick Mahomes QB | KC
Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes: Maximizes one completion Saturday
Mahomes completed his only pass attempt for a one-yard touchdown during the Chiefs' 20-17 preseason loss to the Cardinals on Saturday night.
The Chiefs' offense was set up in prime field position after the Cardinals lost a fumble on the opening kickoff, and after an incompletion on his first pass was wiped out by a defensive pass interference penalty against Will Johnson, Mahomes connected with Jason Brownlee for a one-yard touchdown pass on the next play. The two-time MVP was done for the night at that point, but he's almost certainly due for a longer stint in Kansas City's second preseason game Friday night on the road against the Seahawks.

Skylar Thompson QB | PIT
Steelers' Skylar Thompson: Stellar in preseason opener
Thompson completed 20 of 28 passes for 233 yards and three touchdowns while rushing once for three yards during Saturday's 31-25 preseason win over the Jaguars.
The 2022 seventh-rounder seems like a longshot to make the Steelers' 53-man roster to begin the regular season behind Aaron Rodgers, Mason Rudolph and Will Howard (hand), but Thompson made a strong impression during Saturday's preseason opener. The 28-year-old should continue to get increased reps while Howard is sidelined, but it seems most likely that Thompson is competing for a spot on Pittsburgh's practice squad or a roster spot elsewhere.

Jordan Love QB | GB
Packers' Jordan Love: Ragged cameo in preseason loss
Love completed one of five passes for seven yards during the Packers' 30-10 preseason loss to the Jets on Saturday night.
Love was in on Green Bay's first two possessions, but as his final line implies, he couldn't get much going despite having some familiar faces around him at the skill positions. Love threw incomplete to Romeo Doubs on his first two attempts and then failed to connect with Malik Heath on his first throw of the Packers' second drive, but he finally got on the board with a seven-yard strike to rookie first-round pick Matthew Golden. Love ended up taking a sack on his final dropback of the night, making it a rocky start to the preseason. The 2020 first-round pick is likely in for a longer stint under center during the Packers' second preseason game, which comes on the road against the Colts next Saturday afternoon.
