  • Malik Willis QB | GB

Packers' Malik Willis: DNP due to illness

Willis (right shoulder) missed practice Wednesday due to an illness, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.

The Packers' top two quarterbacks are dealing with health concerns in the wake of Saturday's loss at Chicago, but Jordan Love (concussion) was able to take part in drills Wednesday, while Willis was absent due to something unrelated to the right shoulder injury he suffered late in Week 16. Willis is the favorite to get the start this Saturday against the Ravens if Love can't make it through the protocol for head injuries, but the former's new ailment adds another element to the QB situation in Green Bay.

  • Logan Woodside QB | ARI

Logan Woodside: Joins Cardinals' practice squad

Woodside signed with the Cardinals' practice squad Wednesday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.

The Toledo product was dropped from the Steelers' practice squad in late October but has since found a new home in Arizona. Woodside's last in-game action came with the Cardinals in 2023, when he appeared in one contest and completed three of four passes for 27 yards and an interception.

  • Jeff Driskel QB | WAS

Commanders' Jeff Driskel: Serving as No. 2 QB in Week 17

Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said that Driskel will serve as the team's No. 2 quarterback behind starter Josh Johnson during Thursday's game against the Cowboys, Tashan Reed of The Washington Post reports.

With Jayden Daniels (elbow) and Marcus Mariota (hand/quad) both ruled out for Thursday's divisional contest, Driskel -- who was signed off the Cardinals' practice squad earlier this week -- will suit up as Johnson's backup. Josh Johnson. Driskel's last NFL action came back in 2024 with Washington, when he played one snap on offense in a Week 2 game against the Giants.

  • Josh Johnson QB | WAS

Commanders' Josh Johnson: Set to start Thursday

Commanders head coach Dan Quinn confirmed Wednesday that Johnson will start quarterback in Thursday's game against the Cowboys, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.

Marcus Mariota hasn't been able to practice since sustaining hand and quadriceps injuries in this past Saturday's 29-18 loss to the Eagles and won't be available on a short week, paving the way for the well-traveled Johnson to make his first NFL start since 2021. Over 48 career appearances (nine starts) across 10 different seasons, the 39-year-old Johnson has completed 58.0 percent of his pass attempts for 6.4 yards per attempt and a 13:17 TD:INT. Per Ben Standig of Big 100 Washington D.C., Quinn said that the Commanders have hope that Mariota might be able to return for the Jan. 4 season finale in Philadelphia, so Johnson could be headed back to the No. 2 role in Week 18.

  • Marcus Mariota QB | WAS

Commanders' Marcus Mariota: Not available for Week 17

Washington head coach Dan Quinn said Wednesday that Mariota (hand/quadriceps) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Cowboys, Tashan Reed of The Washington Post reports.

With Mariota set to be sidelined due to the pair of injuries he sustained in last Saturday's 29-18 loss to the Eagles, Josh Johnson will be called upon to make his first start since the 2021 season. Meanwhile, newly signed Jeff Driskel will serve as Johnson's backup, and Washington plans to sign Sam Hartman off its practice squad to serve as the team's emergency No. 3 quarterback, per John Keim of ESPN.com. According to Ben Standig of Big 100 Washington D.C., Quinn said he still has hope that Mariota will be able to return for the Commanders' Jan. 4 regular-season finale in Philadelphia, though Mariota's availability will hinge on what he's able to do in practice next week.

  • Chiefs' Chris Oladokun: Slated to start Week 17

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid confirmed Tuesday that Oladokun will start at quarterback for the Chiefs in Thursday's game against the Broncos, Charles Goldman of AtoZSports.com reports.

Kansas City will be breaking in its third starting quarterback in as many games, with Oladokun getting his chance after Patrick Mahomes (knee) suffered season-ending ACL and LCL tears in Week 15 and after Gardner Minshew (knee) went down with a season-ending tibial plateau fracture in Week 16. A 2022 seventh-round draft pick, Oladokun ended up seeing his first extended NFL snaps in relief of Minshew in last Sunday's 26-9 loss to the Titans, completing 11 of 16 pass attempts for 111 yards while adding seven yards on two carries. Oladokun doesn't profile as a recommended option in fantasy lineups for Week 17 while he makes his first NFL start against one of the league's top defenses and potentially without the services of top wideout Rashee Rice (concussion), who has yet to practice this week and appears likely to sit out Thursday.

  • Colts' Anthony Richardson: Not coming off IR this week

Coach Shane Steichen noted Wednesday that Richardson (orbital) won't be activated from IR ahead of Sunday's game against the Jaguars, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.

Steichen previously confirmed that Philip Rivers will draw the start at QB for the 8-7 Colts on Sunday. With Richardson not slated to come off IR in advance of Week 17 action, Riley Leonard will continue to back up Rivers this weekend.

  • Lamar Jackson QB | BAL

Ravens' Lamar Jackson: Absent from first Week 17 practice

Jackson (back) didn't participate in Tuesday's walk-through practice, Jonas Shaffer of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

Throughout the season, Jackson has often received rest days during the Ravens' first practice of a given week, but his absence Tuesday is the result of a legitimate injury. After sustaining a bruised back in the second quarter of this past Sunday's 28-24 loss to the Patriots, Jackson was unable to return to the contest, leaving Tyler Huntley to direct the offense for the rest of the night. The Ravens are viewing Jackson as day-to-day with the hope that he'll be ready to go for this Saturday's game at Green Bay, but he may need to fit in some on-field work Wednesday or Thursday in order to get the green light to play. Per Shaffer, offensive coordinator Todd Monken wouldn't tip his hand regarding who would start under center for Week 17, instead saying that the Ravens have confidence in both Jackson or Huntley.

  • Justin Fields QB | NYJ

Jets' Justin Fields: Shut down for season

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said Tuesday that Fields (knee) is set to be placed on injured reserve.

The transaction is likely to be made official Wednesday. Fields hadn't been available the last three games, and though the quarterback resumed practicing in a limited fashion last week, the Jets opted to shut him down after his condition hadn't improved as quickly as the team had hoped. The 26-year-old is under contract through next season, but he's unlikely to be viewed as anything more than a backup option following an unproductive run through the first 11 weeks of 2025. Fields went 2-7 as a starter while completing 62.7 percent of his passes for 6.2 yards per attempt and a 7:1 TD:INT, to go with 383 yards (5.4 per carry) and four scores on the ground. He also lost three fumbles and took 27 sacks on his 231 dropbacks.

  • Josh Johnson QB | WAS

Commanders' Josh Johnson: Trending toward Week 17 start

Johnson is trending toward making his first start of the season Thursday against the Cowboys after Marcus Mariota (hand/quadriceps) was a non-participant in Tuesday's walk-through practice, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.

With the Commanders shutting down Jayden Daniels (elbow) for the season and with Mariota unlikely to be ready to play on a short week, Johnson is the next man up at quarterback. The journeyman signal-caller's last NFL start came back in 2021, when he filled in for Lamar Jackson in Week 17 during his second of three stints in the Ravens organization. Johnson has flashed some upside as a runner in his limited playing time over his previous stops during his long career, but given that he's now 39 years old, he probably can't be counted on to replicate the rushing production of Daniels or Mariota.
