  • Lamar Jackson QB | BAL

Ravens' Lamar Jackson: May have core-muscle injury

Jackson wasn't at the media-access portion of Wednesday's practice, and he may be dealing with a groin or core-muscle injury, according to Jonas Shaffer of TheBaltimoreBanner.com.

Shaffer notes that Jackson seemed to have some discomfort in his groin or abdomen following Sunday's 29-24 loss at Cleveland. The Ravens will release their first Week 9 injury report later Wednesday, when it will become known whether Jackson missed practice entirely or ended up being a limited participant.

  • Jordan Love QB | GB

Packers' Jordan Love: Not practicing Wednesday

Love (groin) won't take part in Wednesday's practice, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.

Love got some work in on an exercise bike but did not ultimately take the practice field with teammates, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com. The quarterback was knocked out of Green Bay's win over Jacksonville this past weekend and is considered day-to-day heading into a pivotal matchup with NFC North-leading Detroit this Sunday. Love still has a chance to play Sunday, but he now has only two more opportunities to log some practice activity in advance of the contest. Malik Willis will start at quarterback for the Packers in the event that Love can't go.

  • Colts' Anthony Richardson: Team confirms move to bench

Head coach Shane Steichen confirmed Wednesday that Joe Flacco will replace Richardson as the Colts' starting quarterback "going forward," JJ Stankevitz of the team's official site reports.

Though reports surfaced Tuesday indicating that the Colts were pivoting from Richardson to Flacco at quarterback, Steichen noted Wednesday that the move is not just a one-week change. While Steichen added the Colts are "not giving up on [Richardson] by any means," the 2023 first-round pick is now slated to back up Flacco for the foreseeable future. After his rookie season was cut short by a shoulder injury that required surgery, Richardson had struggled to develop as a passer through the first half of his second NFL campaign, completing just 59 of 133 pass attempts (44.4 percent) for 958 yards (7.2 YPA), four touchdowns and seven interceptions through six games.

  • Joe Flacco QB | CIN

Colts' Joe Flacco: Starter going forward

Head coach Steichen confirmed Wednesday that Flacco will start at quarterback for the Colts "going forward," JJ Stankevitz of the team's official site reports.

Reports had already surfaced Tuesday indicating that the Colts were planning to bench the struggling Anthony Richardson in favor of Flacco, but Steichen clarified Wednesday that the move is not just a one-week change. Flacco will step in for his third start of the season Sunday at Minnesota, after he had previously started in Weeks 5 and 6 while Richardson was sidelined with an oblique injury. With Steichen and the Colts having committed to Flacco for the foreseeable future, the 39-year-old represents a worthwhile roster pickup in fantasy leagues that start two quarterbacks, or for managers looking for a replacement signal-caller during a bye week. Through his first four appearances (two starts) with the Colts this season, Flacco has completed 71 of 108 pass attempts for 716 yards, seven touchdowns and one interception while adding 26 yards on six carries.

  • Drake Maye QB | NE

Patriots' Drake Maye: Set for limited practice

Maye (concussion) will be a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports.

Head coach Jerod Mayo confirmed that Maye is still in concussion protocol, with the quarterback slated to do some throwing at Wednesday's practice. Maye's involvement in the Patriots' first Week 9 practice session provides hope that he could be available Sunday against the Titans, but the young signal-caller will still need to clear all five steps of the protocol for that to happen. If Maye is not active this weekend, Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald notes that Joe Milton would back up Jacoby Brissett in Week 9.

  • Aaron Rodgers QB | PIT

Jets' Aaron Rodgers: Full go Tuesday

Rodgers (knee/hamstring) was listed as a full participant on Tuesday's estimated practice report, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.

Rodgers has been nursing nagging knee and hamstring injuries, which resulted in him being estimated as a limited participant on the first practice report the Jets released Monday. Head coach Jeff Ulbrich previously indicated that the star quarterback didn't suffer any setbacks in Sunday's loss to the Patriots, and his being listed as full participant Tuesday clears the way for him to start Thursday's game against the Texans.

  • Jason Bean QB | IND

Jason Bean: Comes off injured list

The Colts activated Bean (foot) from the practice squad injured list Tuesday.

Bean has been absent from practice since Sept. 24, when he was initially placed on the injured list due to a foot issue. Now, the undrafted rookie quarterback will be eligible to resume handling a depth gig for the Colts. That role takes on new context with Anthony Richardson having been benched in favor of veteran Joe Flacco, beginning Week 9.

  • Joe Flacco QB | CIN

Colts' Joe Flacco: Taking over as starter Week 9

Flacco will step in as the Colts' starting quarterback in place of Anthony Richardson in Sunday's game against the Vikings, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Head coach Shane Steichen hinted at a possible change under center Monday, when he was non-committal about Richardson's role for Week 9. Flacco -- who played one snap in this past Sunday's loss to the Texans while Richardson rested -- performed well while making three appearances (two starts) in place of an injured Richardson in Weeks 4 through 6, completing 65.7 percent of his passes for 6.6 yards per attempt and a 7:1 TD:INT. Richardson, meanwhile, has failed to complete more than 50 percent of his pass attempts in any of the five games he's finished this season. It's not clear at this point if the 4-4 Colts plan to proceed with Flacco as their starter the rest of the season, but he may continue to lead the offense as long as Indianapolis remains in the playoff hunt.

  • Colts' Anthony Richardson: Benched in favor of Flacco

The Colts have decided to bench Richardson and move forward with veteran quarterback Joe Flacco as their starting quarterback, beginning with Sunday's game against the Vikings, Adam Schefter and Jeremy Fowler of ESPN report.

Head coach Shane Steichen hinted at a possible change under center Monday, when he was non-committal about Richardson's status for Week 9. A 2023 first-round pick, Richardson was always considered a developmental prospect due to his minimal amount of games started at the collegiate level, but with the Colts sitting at a 4-4 record and in contention for a playoff berth, Steichen and the coaching staff are clearly more confident in Flacco's ability to command the offense. Richardson hasn't completed more than 50 percent of his pass attempts in any of the five games he's finished this season, and his mistake-prone style of play has balanced out whatever positives that his elite athleticism adds to Indianapolis' offense. The door isn't necessarily closed on the Colts turning back to Richardson down the stretch, after he's given more time to watch Flacco from the sideline.

  • Daniel Jones QB | IND

Giants' Daniel Jones: Staying in starting role

Head coach Brian Daboll said Tuesday that Jones will remain the Giants' starting quarterback for Sunday's game against the Commanders, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.

After turning the ball over just once while completing 67.6 percent of his passes for 7.0 yards per attempt from Weeks 2 through 6, Jones has regressed over the past three games, all of which were losses in which the Giants failed to score more than 20 points. Though Daboll remains committed to Jones as the team's starter for Week 9, the 27-year-old may be on a shorter leash after he took four sacks and completed 24 of 38 passes for 264 yards, no touchdowns and one interception while also losing a fumble in the Giants' 26-18 loss to the Steelers on Monday. In addition to his recent stretch of substandard play, Jones' contract situation could also lead to his benching at some point. He will be fully guaranteed $23 million for 2025 if he gets injured or is unable to pass a physical this offseason, so the Giants could have some motivation to hold him out if they decide Jones isn't their long-term solution at quarterback.
