  • Raiders' Jimmy Garoppolo: Turns in full practice

Garoppolo (ankle) was a full practice participant Thursday.

The Raiders haven't revealed whether Garoppolo's listed ankle injury is related to his surgically repaired left foot, but his upgrade from limited practice participation Wednesday to full participation Thursday erases any concern about his availability for Sunday's game in Buffalo. Garoppolo proved to be an effective game manager in the Raiders' 17-16 win over the Broncos in Week 1, committing just one turnover (an interception) while completing 20 of 26 pass attempts for 200 yards and two touchdowns to go with an additional nine yards on the ground.

  • Brett Rypien QB | MIN

Rams' Brett Rypien: Will join active roster

Rypien will be signed to the Rams' 53-man roster from their practice squad Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Rypien will be the beneficiary of Stetson Bennett's placement on the reserve/non-football injury list, which took place Wednesday. The Boise State product will now operate as Matthew Stafford's backup beginning Sunday against the 49ers. The 27-year-old appeared in four games with the Broncos last season, completing 53 of 88 passes for 483 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions.

  • Rams' Stetson Bennett: Dealing with illness

Bennett's placement on the reserve/NFI list Wednesday was due to an illness, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.

When Rams coach Sean McVay was initially asked about Bennett on Wednesday, he declined to indicate the nature of the issue that resulted in the quarterback landing on the reserve/NFI list. It has since been made clear that Bennett is dealing with an illness, though McVay declined to elaborate "out of respect for the particulars and the specifics." Bennett had been managing a shoulder injury for several weeks, but that appears unrelated to Wednesday's transaction.

  • Rams' Stetson Bennett: Goes to NFI list

The Rams placed Bennett on the reserve/NFI list Wednesday, Greg Beacham of The Associated Press reports.

It's not clear what precisely prompted the move, partially because Coach Sean McVay declined to explain it to reporters. Bennett had reportedly been dealing with shoulder soreness ahead of Week 1, so it could be that, but for now all that is known for certain is that the Rams will need a new backup quarterback for the immediate future.

  • Raiders' Jimmy Garoppolo: Listed as limited Wednesday

Garoppolo was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday due to an ankle injury.

Garoppolo battled a foot injury prior to the season opener but looked spry in his Raiders debut, sealing a 17-16 Week 1 victory over the Broncos with an eight-yard scramble on 3rd-and-7 to get the game-clinching first down. The Raiders haven't revealed whether the ankle injury is connected to Garoppolo's prior foot problem, but regardless, his availability for Sunday in Buffalo likely won't be affected. Garoppolo told Vic Tafur of The Athletic after Wednesday's practice that he's doing fine, which suggests his limitations in the first Week 2 session were mostly maintenance-related.

  • Colts' Anthony Richardson: Not on injury report

Richardson (knee) isn't listed on Wednesday's injury report.

In the Colts' 31-21 loss to Jacksonville in Week 1, Richardson came out of the game for the final three offensive plays due to a bruised left knee, but both the quarterback and head coach Shane Steichen downplayed the injury after the game. The rookie's omission from the Week 2 injury report confirms that Richardson is healthy heading into Sunday's game in Houston, where the rookie signal-caller will look to pick up the first win of his NFL career after throwing one touchdown and rushing for another in his debut.

  • Ian Book QB | PHI

Ian Book: Gets chance with New England

The Patriots signed Book to their practice squad Wednesday, Mark Daniels of The Springfield Republican reports.

Book will be joining the third organization of his career after stops with the Saints and Eagles over the first two seasons since entering the league as a fourth-round pick in 2021. The former Notre Dame standout will bolster New England's organization depth at quarterback after Matt Corral was moved to the exempt/left squad list Saturday.

  • Tim Boyle QB | TEN

Tim Boyle: In line for elevation

The Jets are expected to elevate Boyle for Sunday's game at Dallas, Ethan B. Greenberg of the team's official site reports.

Working on a short week in the wake of Aaron Rodgers' torn left Achilles, New York will stay in-house for the direct backup to Zach Wilson in his first start of the campaign. Thereafter, it seems likely the team will add a veteran quarterback at some point, but acclimation to the system may mean Boyle remains the No. 2 option for at least the next handful of games.

  • Aaron Rodgers QB | PIT

Jets' Aaron Rodgers: Heads to injured reserve

The Jets officially placed Rodgers (Achilles) on injured reserve Tuesday.

This comes as no surprise after an MRI confirmed that Rodgers sustained a torn left Achilles in Monday's overtime win against the Bills. He'll miss the rest of his first season with the Jets, handing off the offense to third-year pro Zach Wilson. Considering his age (39), there will be questions about whether Rodgers is willing to go through an arduous rehab to return for a 20th NFL campaign in 2024.

  • Zach Wilson QB | NO

Jets' Zach Wilson: Named starting QB

Coach Robert Saleh reiterated Tuesday that Wilson is the Jets' starting quarterback after the team confirmed Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles during Monday's overtime win versus the Bills, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

After taking over for Rodgers on New York's fifth offensive snap of the game, Wilson played the final 50 en route to 140 yards passing, one touchdown and one interception. He also had four carries for six yards and was sacked twice for minus-13 yards. Saleh noted that the Jets will add another quarterback at some point to a room that currently includes only practice-squad member Tim Boyle behind Wilson.
