Brett Rypien: Let go by LAR

The Rams cut Rypien on Tuesday.

Rypien was competing with rookie Stetson Bennett for the No. 2 gig behind Matthew Stafford, and while neither backup shined during the preseason, the Rams are opting to go with the Georgia product. Rypien has appeared in eight career games (all with Denver), but he's struggled with turnovers when given a chance, posting a 4:8 TD:INT in his career.

  • Dresser Winn QB | LAR

    Dresser Winn: Waived by LAR

The Rams waived Winn on Tuesday.

Winn signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent in May but ultimately won't make the initial 53-man roster. The quarterback completed three of five passes for 21 yards during Los Angeles' preseason finale and could be brought back on a practice-squad deal if he clears waivers.

  • Malik Cunningham: Let go by Pats

The Patriots have waived Cunningham, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

With Ian Rapoport of NFL Network relaying Tuesday that Bailey Zappe is also being waived, Mac Jones is currently the only QB left on the Patriots' roster. Look for additional moves to be made by the team in short order, with Cunningham presumably being a practice squad candidate if he clears waivers.

Kellen Mond: Returning to waiver wire

Mond is expected to be waived Tuesday, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports.

Mond was originally waived by the team Thursday, but after the trade of Joshua Dobbs, they pulled him back off the wire. Now, a few short days later, he was waived again, as the team intends to keep Deshaun Watson and Dorian Thompson-Robinson as the two quarterbacks on the team's 53-man roster. Mond has a good chance to return as the team's practice squad quarterback.

  • Jeff Driskel QB | WAS

    Jeff Driskel: Getting let go

Driskel will be released by the Cardinals on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Driskel's exit will leave Joshua Dobbs, Clayton Tune and David Blough as the healthy quarterbacks on the team's roster. Wilson speculates that the veteran could return to the team next week though, according to a league source.

  • Ben DiNucci QB | DEN

    Ben DiNucci: Gets cut loose

DiNucci was waived by the Broncos on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

DiNucci joined the team in May after a successful XFL season with Seattle. Ultimately though, the James Madison product was unable to unseat Jarrett Stidham for backup duties, while Denver has opted to carry two quarterbacks on their 53-man roster.

  • Trevor Siemian QB | ATL

    Trevor Siemian: Won't make team

Siemian was released by the Bengals on Tuesday, Jay Morrison reports.

Siemian was working to earn the backup role to Joe Burrow; however, he was edged out by Washington product +Jake Browning. The former will now need to seek out another opportunity, where he'd look to see the field in a regular-season game for a fifth NFL team.

  • Tommy DeVito QB | NE

Giants' Tommy DeVito: Won't make team

DeVito was waived by the Giants on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

DeVito joined the squad as an undrafted free agent out of Illinois. Although he was solid in the preseason, the 25-year-old was unable to secure the No. 2 spot held by Tyrod Taylor behind starter Daniel Jones. DeVito will likely be a candidate for a practice squad spot.

  • Bengals' Jake Browning: Gets No. 2 QB job

Browning is the Bengals' second-string quarterback following the release of Trevor Siemian on Tuesday, Jay Morrison of PFN reports.

Siemian's release confirms that Browning won the summer battle to back up Joe Burrow, who remains uncertain for Week 1 after suffering a calf injury in late July. The Bengals may still take a look at other options for the backup role, especially if they aren't confident in Burrow making it back for Week 1 at Cleveland. The 27-year-old Browning has spent time with Minnesota and Cincinnati since going undrafted back in 2019, but he's still seeking his first regular-season appearance after years of mostly working on practice squads.
