  • Ryan Tannehill QB | TEN

Titans' Ryan Tannehill: Should play through ankle issue

Tannehill was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice due to an ankle injury, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

Tannehill missed two games with an ankle injury earlier this season, and he apparently rolled his other ankle during Sunday's blowout loss in Philadelphia, according to Wyatt. He doesn't sound worried about missing the upcoming matchup with Jacksonville on Sunday, but his mobility may be limited, and top target Treylon Burks (concussion) may not play.

  • 49ers' Jimmy Garoppolo: Unlikely to return for playoffs

San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan said Wednesday that he isn't optimistic about Garoppolo (foot) returning during the playoffs, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

The 49ers are in good position to qualify for the postseason even with backup Brock Purdy taking over at quarterback, but the team doesn't seem as though it'll be counting on Garoppolo, who only has an "outside chance" to be ready to go by late January, according to Shanahan. The good news for Garoppolo is that he avoided a Lisfranc injury and ligament damage after exiting early in Sunday's win over the Dolphins, though his recovery from a broken foot is expected to take around two months despite not requiring surgery to address the injury. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Tuesday that Garoppolo might be able to return in 7-to-8 weeks if all goes well, which would line up with a return for the divisional round or NFC Championship Game. Making a deep run in the playoffs won't be an easy task now that the Niners are down to their third starting quarterback of the season.

  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Plans to play Sunday

Lawrence said that his sprained left big toe feels better Wednesday than it has since he initially suffered the injury in Sunday's loss to the Lions, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.

Lawrence will sit out Wednesday's practice, but head coach Doug Pederson said that he believes that that the quarterback will get back on the field Thursday and/or Friday, according to DiRocco. Meanwhile, when asked Wednesday whether he expects to play Sunday against the Titans, Lawrence replied that he plans on suiting up this weekend. Backup C.J. Beathard took reps with the first-team offense during Wednesday's practice while Lawrence watched from the side.

  • Lamar Jackson QB | BAL

    Ravens' Lamar Jackson: Not practicing

Jackson (knee) isn't practicing Wednesday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.

While the Ravens haven't officially ruled Jackson out for Week 14, his recent diagnosis of a PCL sprain in his left knee makes Tyler Huntley the expected starter this Sunday in Pittsburgh, and perhaps for a game or two beyond that. Any practice participation from Jackson this week would be a surprise, after head coach John Harbaugh deemed the quarterback "week-to-week" Monday.

  • Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes: Downplays foot bruise

Mahomes relayed Wednesday that he suffered a bruised foot on his final snap of Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Bengals, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports.

That said, Mahomes indicated that he feels fine, adding that the bruised foot shouldn't bother him as this weekend's game against the Broncos approaches. Wednesday's injury report will clarify whether Mahomes' practice participation will be affected at all by the injury, but at this stage, there's nothing to suggest that his Week 14 availability is in any danger.

  • Kyle Allen QB | BUF

Texans' Kyle Allen: Returns to backup role

Allen is set to return to a backup role for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, after head coach Lovie Smith said Wednesday that Davis Mills will reclaim starting quarterback duties for the Texans, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com reports.

After Mills led the Texans to 1-8-1 record through the team's first 10 games, he was benched ahead of Week 12 in favor of Allen. The change at quarterback didn't yield desirable results, as Allen completed 46 of 78 pass attempts for 416 yards, with two touchdowns and four picks during his two-week stint as starter, which featured double-digit losses to the Dolphins and Browns. With Smith handing the offense back over to Mills, Allen seems unlikely to see extended action this season unless the former succumbs to an injury.

  • Davis Mills QB | HOU

Texans' Davis Mills: Back as starting QB

Head coach Lovie Smith confirmed Wednesday that Mills will start at quarterback for the Texans this Sunday against the Cowboys, Drew Dougherty of the Texans' official site reports.

As a result, Kyle Allen -- who started the Houston's last two games -- will return to a backup role. Per DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com, Smith noted that the team expects "two weeks of watching from the sideline to help" Mills, who has recorded 2,144 passing yards and an 11:11 TD:INT through 10 outings this season. In his return to the starting lineup, the 2021 third-round pick represents an option at his position for those in deeper fantasy formats, as well as for managers in need of signal-caller depth while six NFL teams are on bye Week 14.

  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Sits out practice with sprained toe

Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said Lawrence won't practice Wednesday due to a sprained left big toe, John Shipley of SI.com reports.

According to Shipley, Pederson added that Lawrence is considered day-to-day and "progressing in the right direction" from the injury that forced him out for a spell during this past Sunday's 40-14 loss to the Lions. Lawrence was able to return to the contest and finished the afternoon with 17 completions on 31 attempts for 179 yards and one touchdown to go with 32 yards on four carries. At this stage, Pederson told Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com that he's unsure if Lawrence will be able to play through the injury in the Jaguars' Week 14 game at Tennessee, but the second-year signal-caller will get "mental reps" at Wednesday's walk-through session to keep himself prepared to start if he's able to receive the green light this weekend.

  • Kyle Allen QB | BUF

Texans' Kyle Allen: Set to return to No. 2 role

The Texans plan to bench Allen and appoint Davis Mills to the starting quarterback role for Sunday's game in Dallas, leagues sources tell Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston.

Mills opened the season as the Texans' starter before being benched after guiding Houston to a 1-8-1 record through the first 11 weeks. Houston was hopeful that Allen might provide a slight upgrade under center, but he was unable to even meet the low bar that Mills had set. Allen completed 59 percent of his throws for 5.3 yards per attempt, two touchdowns and four interceptions over the past two games, double-digit losses to the Dolphins and Browns. Head coach Lovie Smith thus appears set to give Mills another look as the starter, though the Texans may not confirm as much until later in the week.

  • Davis Mills QB | HOU

Texans' Davis Mills: Set to reclaim starting job

The Texans plan to return Mills to the starting quarterback role for Sunday's game at Dallas, league sources tell Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston.

Mills started the Texans' first 10 games before being benched in favor of Kyle Allen ahead of Week 12 after completing 61.9 percent of his throws for 6.5 yards per attempt and an 11:11 TD:INT. Allen didn't fare any better in double-digit losses to the Dolphins and Browns the past two weeks (59 percent completion rate, 5.3 YPA, 2:4 TD:INT), so the Texans will turn the offense back over to Mills with the hope that he can provide some sort of lift. Expect head coach Lovie Smith to confirm Mills' return to the top of the depth chart later in the week.
