  • Kyle Trask QB | TB

Buccaneers' Kyle Trask: Extensive action in opener

Trask completed 25 of 33 passes for 258 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the Buccaneers' 26-24 preseason loss to the Dolphins on Saturday night. He also lost a fumble.

Trask's night got off to an encouraging start when he led a 15-play, 86-yard march that culminated in a Ke'Shawn Vaughn one-yard touchdown on his first possession. The Florida product struggled with turnovers on the next two drives, however, throwing an interception at the Buccaneers' 22-yard line that led to a Dolphins touchdown on the next play and then getting separated from the ball on a sack three plays later and seeing that fumble returned for a score as well. However, Trask did partly make up for the gaffes with a 19-yard touchdown toss to Jerreth Sterns in the third quarter and finished with impressive numbers overall while logging some much-needed reps. With Tom Brady (personal) still slated to be away from the team for next Saturday's road exhibition matchup against the Titans, Trask is likely set for another hefty workload.

  • Drew Lock QB | SEA

Seahawks' Drew Lock: Throws for two touchdowns in loss

Lock completed 11 of 15 pass attempts for 102 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions while rushing once for three yards during the Seahawks' 32-25 preseason loss to Pittsburgh on Saturday.

The 25-year-old has made strides in practice over the last few days, and coach Pete Carroll recently said that Lock will get more reps with the first-team offense in the near future. Lock played the second half during Saturday's preseason opener and accounted for the team's only two passing touchdowns during the narrow loss. Although Lock played well Saturday, Geno Smith also had an impressive performance, completing 10 of 15 pass attempts for 101 yards while rushing for a touchdown. Smith still appears to be the frontrunner for the starting job at quarterback in Seattle, but Lock has closed the gap recently.

  • Geno Smith QB | NYJ

Seahawks' Geno Smith: Tops 100 yards in preseason start

Smith completed 10 of 15 pass attempts for 101 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions while rushing twice for nine yards and a touchdown during the Seahawks' 32-25 preseason loss to the Steelers on Saturday.

Smith operated as the starting quarterback during Saturday's preseason opener and played the entire first half. While he didn't pass for any touchdowns, he showcased his rushing ability with a score on the ground late in the second quarter. Although Drew Lock has outplayed Smith in practice in recent days, Smith has worked mainly with the first-team offense early in camp and turned in a solid performance during the preseason opener.

  • Kenny Pickett QB | CAR

Steelers' Kenny Pickett: Efficient in preseason opener

Pickett completed 13 of 15 pass attempts for 95 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions while rushing three times for 16 yards during the Steelers' 32-25 preseason win over Seattle on Saturday.

Pickett worked with the Steelers' third-team offense during Saturday's preseason opener, but he led the team in passing yards and touchdowns. The rookie made some late plays to keep the team in contention in the closing minutes and connected with Tyler Vaughns for a 24-yard touchdown with three seconds remaining. Pickett has appeared to be the Steelers' No. 3 quarterback early in camp, but it's possible that he earns some more opportunities following Saturday's efficient performance.

  • Mitch Trubisky QB | TEN

Steelers' Mitch Trubisky: Efficient in starting role

Trubisky completed four of seven pass attempts for 63 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions while rushing once for four yards during the Steelers' 32-25 preseason win over the Seahawks on Saturday.

Trubisky began Saturday's preseason opener under center and worked with the first-team offense for the first two drives of the game. While the 2017 first-rounder had the least volume of the three Steelers quarterbacks during the victory, he was efficient with his opportunities and connected with receiver Gunner Olszewski for a touchdown on the game's opening drive. Trubisky has appeared to be the most likely starting quarterback early in camp, and his usage and performance Saturday seemed to help his case.

  • Will Grier QB | CAR

Cowboys' Will Grier: Not playing Saturday

Grier (groin) is not expected to participate during the Cowboys' preseason game Saturday against the Broncos, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Grier saw reps as the Cowboys' third-string quarterback during the team's mandatory minicamp in June behind fellow backup Cooper Rush. In his absence Saturday, Dallas coach Mike McCarthy said during a pregame show that fourth-stringer Ben DiNucci "is going to get a lot of work" during the preseason opener, according to Gehlken. When healthy, Grier figures to compete with the fellow backup for third-string snaps this preseason.

  • Case Keenum QB | CHI

Bills' Case Keenum: Rough debut for Buffalo

Keenum completed 11 of 18 passes for 86 yards with no TD passes and two interceptions in Buffalo's preseason win over the Colts on Saturday.

While those numbers are rough on their own, Keenum also lost a fumble and was sacked six times, and his 33.3 rating paled in comparison to teammate Matt Barkley's 86.1 figure. Keenum was brought in to be the main backup to Josh Allen, and it's doubtful the Bills would punt on that plan after just one lousy preseason performance, but Keenum will have to at least show something better over the last two preseason games.

  • Matt Barkley QB | JAC

Bills' Matt Barkley: Shines in Saturday's exhibition

Barkley completed 18 of 24 passes for 224 yards with no TD passes and one interception in Buffalo's preseason win over the Colts on Saturday, good for an 86.1 rating.

Case Keenum was brought in to be the main backup to Josh Allen this season, but no one has said that's set in stone, and it looks like Barkley plans on making a case to be the No. 2. Keenum struggled Saturday with two interceptions and a 33.3 rating, though in fairness this was his first game with the Bills, while Barkley played for the team and a similar offense from 2018-20 as Allen's backup. The situation should continue to sort itself over the last two preseason games, as it's doubtful the Bills would make a fairly significant depth chart move based on one preseason performance.

  • Dak Prescott QB | DAL

Cowboys' Dak Prescott: Unlikely to suit up Saturday

Prescott isn't slated to play in Saturday's preseason game at Denver, James Palmer of NFL Network reports.

As expected, Prescott won't be available Saturday and likely won't suit up next Saturday at the Chargers, either. Coach Mike McCarthy said as much in late July, noting the Cowboys will evaluate whether the team's top skill-position talents will make an appearance in a game before Week 1. In Prescott's stead, Cooper Rush, Will Grier and Ben DiNucci will handle QB duties for Dallas.

  • Davis Mills QB | HOU

Texans' Davis Mills: In line for some drives Saturday

Mills is slated to play the first few possession of Saturday's preseason contest versus the Saints, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.

Mills is unlikely to have Brandin Cooks and Rex Burkhead at his disposal in the Texans' exhibition opener, but he should get some work in with running backs Marlon Mack and Dameon Pierce and wide receivers Nico Collins and Chris Conley, among others. Behind Mills, Kyle Allen is unavailable after testing positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, leaving all remaining quarterback reps to Jeff Driskel on Saturday.
