Braelon Allen RB | NYJ
Jets' Braelon Allen: Another fruitful performance
Allen tallied seven carries for 34 yards during Saturday's 31-12 preseason defeat to the Giants.
Allen split the backfield work with No. 1 RB Breece Hall during the Jets' first two drives, and the former ended up outgaining his position mate by eight yards on the same number of rushes. Through two exhibitions, Allen has 15 carries for 67 yards, which amounts to 4.5 YPC (or nearly 1.0 yard more than the 3.6 he averaged as a rookie last season). The sample size is small, but it appears as if Allen will be in the mix for touches early and often alongside Hall in 2025.

Omarion Hampton RB | LAC
Chargers' Omarion Hampton: Plays with starters
Hampton carried the ball twice for 12 yards in Saturday's 23-22 preseason loss to the Rams.
Hampton played in one series with the rest of the Chargers' starters and logged gains of five and seven yards. More importantly, he was the only back to appear with the starting offensive unit, which included Justin Herbert. Hampton is likely to be a part of a rotation at the start of the regular season, though it remains to be seen if he is paired with Najee Harris (eye) or one of a few other running backs vying for a role in the team's backfield.

Kaleb Johnson RB | PIT
Steelers' Kaleb Johnson: Plays behind Gainwell
Johnson rushed the ball 11 times for 50 yards in Saturday's 17-14 preseason loss to the Buccaneers. He made one reception on one target for nine yards.
Johnson entered the game after Kenneth Gainwell and played deep into the third quarter, while Jaylen Warren rested. Johnson found running room difficult to come by for much of the contest, though he did rip off gains of 14 and nine yards on the ground. While his usage behind Gainwell suggests there is still plenty of room for Johnson to improve, he did seemingly take a step forward relative to his first preseason contest.

Breece Hall RB | NYJ
Jets' Breece Hall: Nets seven carries Saturday
Hall turned seven carries into 26 yards and didn't haul in his only target during Saturday's 31-12 preseason loss to the Giants.
Hall and Braelon Allen split the backfield work during the Jets' first two possessions of preseason Week 2, with the latter also earning seven carries (for 34 yards) on the evening. The operation under new head coach Aaron Glenn figures to be ground-based, considering the mobile Justin Fields will be directing the offense this season, but Hall appears as if he'll be ceding some carries to Allen on a weekly basis. Hall is coming off a third pro campaign in 2024 in which he notched 1,359 yards from scrimmage and eight total TDs on 266 touches across 16 regular-season games.

Keaton Mitchell RB | BAL
Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Tending to hamstring injury
Coach John Harbaugh said after Saturday's 31-13 preseason win in Dallas that Mitchell is dealing with a hamstring injury but may be able to play in next Saturday's exhibition at Washington.
Mitchell hasn't practiced since suiting up in the Ravens' preseason opener on Thursday, Aug. 7, when he took nine carries for 68 yards and one touchdown. The nature of his injury wasn't revealed until Harbaugh touched on it Saturday, and even if he doesn't play next weekend, the running back will "be fine" for a Week 1 road matchup with the Bills on Sunday, Sept. 7. Once Mitchell is healthy, he's poised for a reserve role behind workhorse Derrick Henry and complementary option Justice Hill.

Bucky Irving RB | TB
Buccaneers' Bucky Irving: Makes preseason debut
Irving rushed the ball eight times for 12 yards in Saturday's 17-14 preseason win over the Steelers. He added one catch on two targets for 15 yards and a touchdown.
Both Baker Mayfield and Mike Evans were on the sidelines for rest, but Irving was one of the few established starting skill-position players to take the field for Tampa Bay. He played three offensive drives and was used heavily on the ground with little effect, though he showcased his pass-catching ability with a nice contested catch in the end zone over Payton Wilson to cap the first offensive possession. Irving established himself as a strong pass catcher as a rookie, but this was still an encouraging preseason debut overall.

Devin Singletary RB | NYG
Giants' Devin Singletary: Scores TD in exhibition
Singletary rushed two times for five yards and one touchdown in the Giants' 31-12 exhibition win over the Jets on Saturday.
After Tyrone Tracy was stuffed on his goal-line carry from the one-yard line in the first quarter, Singletary came on for the next play and cashed in the short touchdown. Singletary turns 28 years old next month and averaged a career-low 3.9 yards per carry last season. He's competing for the likely RB3 role in New York behind Tracy and rookie Cam Skattebo (hamstring), though Skattebo has missed both preseason games and multiple practices this month.

Tyrone Tracy Jr. RB | NYG
Giants' Tyrone Tracy: Runs for 39 yards Saturday
Tracy rushed seven times for 39 yards in the Giants' 31-12 exhibition win over the Jets on Saturday.
Tracy wasn't targeted in the passing game and was also stuffed on his goal-line carry from the one-yard line. On the next play, Devin Singletary entered the game and punched in the one-yard touchdown. Tracy has carried the ball 10 times this preseason, gaining 48 yards, and with rookie Cam Skattebo (hamstring) missing both exhibitions and multiple practices, Tracy appears locked in atop the depth chart headed into the Week 1 opener against the Commanders in three weeks.

Raheem Mostert RB | LV
Raiders' Raheem Mostert: Active in passing game Saturday
Mostert gained nine yards on three carries in a preseason loss to the 49ers on Saturday. He added three receptions on four targets for 16 yards.
Mostert logged fewer carries and yards than both Ashton Jeanty (7-33-1) and Chris Collier (4-26-0), but he led all Raiders running backs in targets, catches and receiving yards. He's never been a prolific receiver out of the backfield, but he may need to do more of that work this season to be at all productive with Jeanty likely to be a workhorse back for the Raiders. As it stands, Mostert is not guaranteed to be the team's No. 2 RB -- Zamir White and Sincere McCormick are also vying for that role.

Ashton Jeanty RB | LV
Raiders' Ashton Jeanty: Scores TD in second preseason game
Jeanty rushed seven times for 33 yards and a touchdown and added one catch on one target for two yards in Saturday's exhibition loss to San Francisco.
Jeanty tallied minus-1 yard on three carries in his preseason NFL debut against the Seahawks on Aug. 7, but he looked significantly better against the 49ers. The rookie out of Boise State ripped off a team-high 13-yard run on his fifth carry and finished that same drive with a one-yard push into the end zone. Overall, Jeanty averaged 4.7 yards per rush attempt, showcasing the promise the Raiders saw when they drafted him sixth overall in April's NFL Draft. He's set to lead Las Vegas' running back corps out of the gate and is consistently being taken late in the first round of fantasy drafts.
