Kroft (foot) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Jets.

Given that Kroft is bouncing back from a broken foot, it's not surprising that the Bills are playing it safe with the tight end, who signed a three-year, $18.75 million contract with the team back in March. Once fully up to speed, Kroft figures to be a key member of the team's passing attack, but for now, Dawson Knox, Lee Smith and Tommy Sweeney profile as the Bills' top healthy options at the tight end position.

The Cardinals have promoted Daniels to the active roster, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.

Daniels was working on the team's practice squad, and they'll bring him up for additional depth ahead of Sunday's game versus the Lions. He's not expected to play a large role in the team's offense at this time, however, since Charles Clay and Maxx Williams are ahead of him on the depth chart.

Fumagalli was limited during Saturday's practice with an illness, Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic reports.

Fumagalli didn't pick up any sort of game designation despite the illness, so it's unlikely the tight end will be limited in any way Monday. He's unlikely to see much playing time with both Jeff Heuerman and Noah Fant listed above him on the depth chart.

Waller could be a candidate to receive more targets after the Raiders released Antonio Brown on Saturday.

Tyrell Williams, Hunter Renfrow and even J.J. Nelson are the more obvious names who stand to benefit from Brown's release, but Waller's already fast-rising fantasy value could skyrocket up further with Saturday's not-so-shocking announcement. The tight end was already turning heads throughout training camp, and benefited nationally from extra coverage throughout HBO's Hard Knocks, but a lack of obvious pass catchers in Oakland almost solidifies Waller's value as a low-floor, high-ceiling option. He'll face a difficult matchup Week 1 against the Broncos, but it's not hard to envision a scenario where Waller puts together numbers similar to Jared Cook, who was the Raiders' primary pass catcher in 2018 to the tune of 68 receptions, 896 receiving yards and six touchdowns.

The Redskins promoted Holtz to their active roster Saturday, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.

Holtz originally failed to make the Redskins' 53-man ruster, but subsequently landed on their practice squad. Now, with Jordan Reed (concussion) unlikely to play Week 1, the team is opting to add depth at tight end. Still, Jeremy Sprinkle figures to get most of the backup tight end run behind Vernon Davis should Reed ultimately suit up.

Butler (undisclosed) has reverted to the Raiders' injured reserve ​per the NFL's official transaction log.

Butler went unclaimed on the wire after getting waived with an injury designation. While it remains unclear what he is dealing with, he is set to spend the season on IR unless he can come to terms on an injury settlement.

Butler (undisclosed) was waived from Oakland's injured reserve with an injury settlement Friday, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

It's unclear what type of injury Butler is dealing with, but it's seemingly serious enough to have landed him on injured reserve in the first place. The 26-year-old has yet to make his regular-season NFL debut, but for now he'll have to focus on getting healthy and finding another squad.

Mayle (undisclosed) has reverted to the Chargers' injured reserve, per the NFL's official transaction log.

Mayle was hoping to make the Chargers 53-man roster after spending much of his 2018 season on their practice squad. However, he ended up getting waived with an injury designation and going unclaimed. As a result, he will spend his 2019 season there unless both parties reach an agreement on an injury settlement.

Tonyan had one reception for 28 yards in Thursday's victory over the Bears.

Tonyan played a career-high 20 snaps Thursday, but that still slotted him third among Packers tight ends. Tonyan could be a better bet than Marcedes Lewis to assume the pass-catching tight end role in the event starting tight end Jimmy Graham is unavailable, but as things stand, all three figure to see action, and Tonyan will play mainly a complementary role.

Oliver (hamstring) was officially ruled out for Sunday's game against Kansas City.

Oliver was never a likely candidate to play in the season opener and he's now officially been ruled out. The rookie third-round pick has been sidelined with the hamstring injury since the start of August and has no official timetable for his return. Geoff Swaim and James O'Shaughnessy should serve as the Jaguars' top two tight ends Sunday.
