• Raiders' Ian Thomas: Secures TD in loss to Kansas City

  Rotowire Oct 4, 2026

Thomas caught both of his targets for 32 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-27 loss to the Chiefs. Thomas logged just 26 of 84 offensive snaps, playing well behind Brock Bowers and Michael Mayer at tight end, but the veteran Thomas has carved out a prominent blocking role under coach Klint Kubiak. Thomas has three grabs for 43 yards and the score across four games this season and isn't relevant in fantasy.

  Rotowire Sep 14, 2026

Thomas played 31 offensive snaps but did not record any stats in Sunday's 27-13 win over the Dolphins. Thomas played 45 percent of the Raiders' offensive snaps during Week 1, helping Ashton Jeanty to a 102-yard rushing day. The No. 3 tight end figures to primarily operate in the trenches unless multiple injuries strike the tight-end position.

  Rotowire Apr 7, 2026

Las Vegas re-signed Thomas to a one-year contract Tuesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. Rotowire Jan 12, 2026

Thomas finished the 2025 season with 13 receptions for 114 yards on 13 targets over 15 games. After spending seven seasons in Carolina, Thomas produced a first down on five of his 13 catches with the Raiders while providing depth and blocking reps behind fellow tight ends Brock Bowers (knee) and Michael Mayer. Thomas, who turns 30 years old in June, will be an unrestricted free agent again this offseason.

• Raiders' Ian Thomas: Overcomes calf issue

  Rotowire Dec 17, 2025

Thomas (calf) logged a full practice Wednesday. Thomas was sidelined for the Raiders' Week 15 game against the Eagles. After logging a full session, he should be ready to return Sunday against the Texans. While Thomas has logged around a 50 percent offensive snap rate in his last few healthy games, he has not reached 40 receiving yards in a game this season and has surpassed 20 yards only once.

• Raiders' Ian Thomas: Questionable to play Sunday

  Rotowire Dec 12, 2025

Thomas (calf) is questionable for Sunday's matchup against the Eagles. Thomas continued to trend in a positive direction with full participation in practice Friday after opening the week as a non-participant with a calf injury sustained in Week 14. The 29-year-old's progression is a good sign for his availability Sunday against the Eagles. If Thomas is unable to play, Carter Runyon will act as the No. 3 tight end behind Brock Bowers and Michael Mayer.

  Rotowire Dec 10, 2025

• Raiders' Ian Thomas: Notches season high in receptions

  Rotowire Nov 25, 2025

Thomas caught all four of his targets for 36 yards in Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Browns. Thomas assumed the TE2 role behind Brock Bowers after Michael Mayer exited the contest early due to an ankle injury, and Thomas took advantage of the opportunity with a season-high four receptions. Given the Raiders' affinity for 12 personnel, Thomas could be in line for a similar workload against the Chargers in Week 13 if Mayer remains sidelined.

• Raiders' Ian Thomas: Rips off longest gain of season

  Rotowire Nov 19, 2025

Thomas was on the field for 17 of the Raiders' 60 snaps on offense and recorded a 20-yard reception on his lone target in Monday's 33-16 loss to the Cowboys. Thomas' 20-yard catch and run in the first quarter represented his longest gain of the season and Las Vegas' second-longest play of the night. The 29-year-old has suited up in all 10 of the Raiders' games this season, but he remains the clear No. 3 tight end on the depth chart behind Brock Bowers and Michael Mayer.

• Raiders' Ian Thomas: Records three catches

  Rotowire Oct 8, 2025

Thomas caught all three of his targets for 20 yards in Sunday's 40-6 loss to the Colts. Thomas' three receptions were his first of the season after he failed to earn a single target in the first four games of the season. With both Brock Bowers (knee) and Michael Mayer (concussion) sidelined, the veteran led all Raiders' tight ends in snaps. Thomas played 38 of the Raiders' 68 offensive snaps, ahead of both Albert Okwuegbunam (31) and Carter Runyon (6). Even if Bowers and Mayer continue to be sidelined, the 29-year-old Thomas should be ignored for fantasy purposes based on his limited potential as a pass catcher. The Raiders will host the Titans in Week 6.

• Raiders' Ian Thomas: Lands in Las Vegas

  Rotowire Mar 25, 2025

The Raiders signed Thomas (calf) to a contract Tuesday. Thomas spent the first seven seasons of his NFL career in Carolina, and he now bolsters a Raiders tight end corps led by 2024 rookie phenom Brock Bowers and trade candidate Michael Mayer. Thomas is capable of contributing in a depth role as both a blocker and pass catcher, so his presence could make it easier for the team to move on from Mayer. He appeared in five games (two starts) with the Panthers in 2024 before landing on IR with a calf injury, but Thomas figures to be ready to go for the start of offseason activities.

• Panthers' Ian Thomas: Dealing with calf issue

  Rotowire Nov 10, 2024

Thomas is questionable to return to Sunday's Week 10 game against the Giants due to a calf injury, David Newton of ESPN.com reports. Thomas was hurt in the first half and was subsequently deemed questionable to return. If he's unable to get back into the game, it would further thin a Panthers tight-end corps that is already without Tommy Tremble (back).

• Panthers' Ian Thomas: Cleared to play

  Rotowire Oct 18, 2024

Thomas (hip) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Commanders, David Newton of ESPN.com reports. Thomas didn't get much playing time the past two weeks with Tommy Tremble in concussion protocol, and it seems Tremble may soon get clearance after practicing without restrictions Thursday and Friday. Rookie Ja'Tavion Sanders is the most interesting Carolina tight end for fantasy purposes, and it remains to be seen what his workload looks like if Tremble and Thomas are simultaneously available for the first time this season.

• Panthers' Ian Thomas: Active against Falcons

  Rotowire Oct 13, 2024

Thomas (calf) is active for Sunday's Week 6 matchup against the Falcons, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports. Thomas' active status was foreshadowed by a combination of his activation from injured reserve Saturday and the ruling out of position mate Tommy Tremble due to a concussion. With Thomas now officially in uniform for the first time this season, the veteran tight end projects to split duties at the position with rookie Ja'Tavion Sanders versus Atlanta.

• Panthers' Ian Thomas: Activated, expected to play Week 6

  Rotowire Oct 12, 2024

Thomas (calf) was activated off injured reserve Saturday and is expected to suit up Sunday versus Atlanta, Alex Zietlow of The Charlotte Observer reports. Thomas injured his calf in early August and hasn't yet suited up this season. That's expected to change Sunday, as the tight end is expected to make his 2024 debut, per Zietlow. Thomas will likely take over the starting role at the position, and his return comes at a good time for Carolina with Tommy Tremble ruled out Sunday due to a concussion.

• Panthers' Ian Thomas: Bumped to limited participant

  Rotowire Oct 10, 2024

Thomas (calf) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Carolina's official team site reports. It looked like Thomas could see a return off injured reserve as early as this week with a full practice Wednesday, but he may be used with more caution and pushed to a return next week. The 6-foot-4 tight end will likely need a full practice on Friday if there's any hope of an active status Sunday against the Falcons.

• Panthers' Ian Thomas: Practices in full

  Rotowire Oct 9, 2024

Thomas (calf) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. Thomas appears to be nearing a return to the field after missing Carolina's first five games of the season due to a calf issue, but the 28-year-old must still be activated from injured reserve if he's to suit up Sunday against the Falcons. Head coach Dave Canales said Wednesday that Thomas could "absolutely" be back for the Panthers' Week 6 matchup if he proves he's moved past his calf injury during practice this week, per Steve Reed of the Associated Press.

• Panthers' Ian Thomas: Will return to practice

  Rotowire Oct 2, 2024

Thomas (calf) was designated to return from injured reserve Wednesday. Thomas has been out of action since before the season began and has missed the mandatory four games on IR. He'll now be able to practice with the team, although he'll have to be added back to the 53-man roster to suit up Sunday against the Bears.

• Panthers' Ian Thomas: Remains sidelined Thursday

  Rotowire Sep 5, 2024

Thomas (calf) remained sidelined for Thursday's practice. Thomas has been dealing with the calf issue for over a month now, and back-to-back DNPs to open the practice week would suggest he's on the wrong side of questionable for Week 1. Tommy Tremble (hamstring/back) is also dinged up for Carolina, leaving rookie Ja'Tavion Sanders atop the depth chart, followed by Jordan Matthews and Messiah Swinson.

• Panthers' Ian Thomas: Surprisingly busy during OTAs

  Rotowire Jun 25, 2024

Thomas caught a surprising number of passes during Carolina's offseason program, ESPN's David Newton reports. The 2018 fourth-round pick got a lot of snaps and routes early in his career but never improved on a rookie season with 36 catches for 333 yards and two touchdowns. He then had four straight years between 136 and 197 yards, before sinking to five catches for 56 yards last season while playing a career-low 206 snaps. It sounds like Thomas may be a better fit in new coach Dave Canales' scheme, but fantasy value still seems a bit far-fetched for a player with 1,055 yards and four TDs on 2,975 career snaps. The Panthers also have Tommy Tremble and 2024 fourth-round pick Ja'Tavion Sanders competing for playing time at tight end, with the former better suited to blocking and the latter more of a receiving threat. Sanders is the only one of the bunch that seems to offer any real upside to become a fantasy-worthy pass catcher.
