Coach Sean McDermott said Knox (hamstring) is "getting better," but he's not yet ready to practice, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.

Knox picked up a hamstring injury in late July, becoming the third Bills tight end to be affected by a health concern. While Tyler Kroft also remains sidelined due to a broken foot, Jason Croom (hamstring) was able to return to practice Friday. McDermott noted that Knox is a bit behind Croom in his recovery, so the rookie third-rounder may be back on the field in the near future.

Jackson, who played the entire second half of Thursday's preseason win over the Colts, completed just two of 10 passes for 45 yards.

Jim Kubiak of The Buffalo News noted that the rookie looked "unsteady and visibly behind several read and throws." The 6-foot-7 Jackson has a monster arm and plenty of upside, but he's nowhere near No. 2 quarterback Matt Barkley at this stage, and his best hope for 2019 is if the Bills decide to roster three quarterbacks instead of two.

Alie-Cox didn't have a reception and was targeted just once in Thursday's preseason loss at Buffalo.

Alie-Cox played just 11 snaps on offense, as most of Indy's key players were rested or got just a series or two. Alie-Cox has drawn praise from coaches for his improved play in practice and could have a larger role as the No. 2 tight end if Jack Doyle's oblique injury carries into the regular season. However, Indy's offense features a deep set of options in the passing game.

Swaim caught his only target for six yards in Thursday's preseason game against the Ravens.

Swaim was one of the few starters to take the field for the Jaguars and played only 15 offensive snaps. The performance doesn't move the needle for the 25-year-old, who's locked in as the starter with Josh Oliver (hamstring) sidelined.

Sweeney dropped his only target in his preseason debut against the Colts on Thursday.

With Tyler Kroft (foot) and fellow rookie Dawson Knox (hamstring) on the shelf, Sweeney has looked good in training camp practices as the pass-catching tight end. He didn't do much with the chance in the team's first game action of the season, though he'll get more opportunities should the two aforementioned players above him remain slow to heal.

Fant secured both of his targets for 14 yards in the Broncos' 22-14 preseason loss to the Seahawks on Thursday.

Fant doubled up his reception total from last Thursday's Hall of Fame Game, but he still produced a modest line overall. The first-round pick is gaining some valuable on-the-job training over the first pair of preseason contests, and he figures to benefit from Denver playing one extra exhibition game this summer. Fant will look to make more of a mark in the Broncos' third preseason tilt, which unfolds Monday, Aug. 18 against the 49ers.

Henry secured both of his targets for 15 yards in the Chargers' 17-13 preseason loss to the Cardinals on Thursday.

It wasn't officially Henry's return to action following his May 2018 ACL tear, as he had played 14 snaps in last January's AFC Championship loss to the Patriots. However, the fourth-year tight end recorded statistics in a game for the first time since December 2017, the first step toward preparing for what is expected to be an extensive role in 2019. Henry's snaps will likely continue to be built up over the next two preseason games, with the Chargers' next exhibition coming against the Saints on Aug. 18.

Gesicki caught one of his two targets, accounting for six receiving yards during Thursday's 34-27 win against the Falcons.

Gesicki was on the receiving end of Ryan Fitzpatrick's first pass attempt of the season, but didn't have any further offensive involvement after that point, and was soon relieved by backup Clive Walford. In a fantasy landscape with few elite options at tight end, the second-year man out of Penn State could be worth a late-round flier in deeper leagues. The Dolphins did, after all, invest an early second-round draft choice in Gesicki just 14 months ago, after he amassed 14 receiving scores over his final two seasons with the Nittany Lions.

Goedert caught three passes on five targets for 50 yards in Thursday's preseason loss to the Titans.

Were it not for a 75-yard TD grab by CFL import Marken Michel, Goedert would have led the Eagles in receiving yards on the night, and he did tie Josh Adams for the team lead in receptions. Goedert remains behind Zach Ertz on the depth chart at tight end, but the second-year player still seems poised for increased volume in the passing game.

Firkser caught two passes for 29 yards and a touchdown in the team's first preseason game against the Eagles.

Firkser made the most of his two targets, converting them both for receptions. The highlight came on a 23-yard score in which he was on the receiving end of a nice pass by Ryan Tannehill down the middle of the field. Firkser recorded 19 receptions in the 2018 season, and figures to make the team behind Jonnu Smith and Delanie Walker.
