Cade Stover TE | HOU
Texans' Cade Stover: Officially placed on IR
The Texans placed Stover (foot) on injured reserve Wednesday.
Stover suffered a broken foot during Houston's loss to the Rams in Week 1, and he'll now have to miss at least four games before being eligible to return to practice from IR. The Texans' tight end corps was heavily depleted even before Stover's injury, with Brevin Jordan (knee) and Irv Smith (ankle) both done for the year, hence the team's decision to sign Harrison Bryant off the practice squad to back up starter Dalton Schultz.

Dawson Knox TE | BUF
Bills' Dawson Knox: Limited in practice Wednesday
Knox (hip) was limited in Wednesday's practice.
Knox played 57 percent of offensive snaps during Buffalo's 41-40 win over the Ravens in Week 1, securing both of his targets for 20 yards. He ran just 17 routes, though, while starting tight end Dalton Kincaid ran 28 routes and brought in all of his targets for a 4-48-1 receiving line. Knox will figure to handle a similar complementary role behind Kincaid if he's able to gain clearance in time for Sunday's road matchup against the Jets.

Dallas Goedert TE | PHI
Eagles' Dallas Goedert: Dealing with knee sprain
Goedert is not participating in the early portion of Wednesday's practice open to the media due to a knee sprain, Zach Berman of The Athletic reports.
Goedert's official practice status will be revealed alongside Wednesday's injury report, but it appears the starting tight end will be listed as either limited or a non-participant. Grant Calcaterra will be the Eagles' next man up at tight end in the event that Goedert is unable to gain clearance in time for Sunday's road matchup against the Chiefs.

Isaiah Likely TE | NYG
Ravens' Isaiah Likely: Not practicing yet
Likely (foot) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
Per Ryan Mink of the Ravens' official site, Likely did work out on a side field again Wednesday, and he continues ramping up as he bounces back from a broken foot he sustained early in training camp. If Likely remains sidelined Sunday against the Browns, Mark Andrews and Charlie Kolar would continue to lead Baltimore's TE corps, with Zaire Mitchell-Paden a candidate to be elevated from the practice squad, as he was Week 1.
-
Darren Waller TE | MIA
Dolphins' Darren Waller: Not practicing Wednesday
Waller (hip) wasn't spotted at Wednesday's practice, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
Waller was among the Dolphins' Week 1 inactives, and the tight end's status for Week 2 is uncertain at this stage. If Waller remains sidelined this weekend, Julian Hill and Tanner Conner would once again handle Miami's TE duties.

Luke Farrell TE | SF
49ers' Luke Farrell: Increased reps on tap
Farrell and Jake Tonges are in line for increased snaps, beginning Sunday versus the Saints, with starting tight end George Kittle (hamstring) having been placed on IR and out a minimum of four games, Dianna Russini, Vic Tafur and Matt Barrows of The Athletic report.
Farrell played more offensive snaps (44) than Tonges (28) after Kittle's early departure in Week 1. Nonetheless, he finished with just one catch for four yards on his only target, while Tonges brought in all three of his targets for 15 yards and a score. Farrell solidified himself as a blocking specialist with the Jaguars from 2021-24, in which span he totaled just 36 receptions despite suiting up for 66 regular-season games, so while he seems like the favorite to lead the 49ers tight end position in snaps for as long as Kittle is sidelined, the majority of pass-catching work could go Tonges' way.

Jake Tonges TE | SF
49ers' Jake Tonges: Opportunity knocks
Tonges and Luke Farrell are in line for more snaps at tight end, beginning Sunday versus the Saints, with George Kittle (hamstring) on IR and set to miss at least four games, Dianna Russini, Vic Tafur and Matt Barrows of The Athletic report.
Tonges stepped up in Kittle's absence Week 1, hauling in all three of his targets for 15 yards and a touchdown during San Francisco's 17-13 win over Seattle. Those marked the first regular-season catches of Tonges' career, but Farrell -- who signed a three-year, $15.75 million deal with the 49ers this offseason -- established himself as a blocking specialist across four years with Jacksonville. Farrell remains the likeliest candidate to lead the tight end position in terms of snaps with Kittle out, but it could be Tonges who inherits the majority of pass-catching reps, putting him on the fantasy radar in deeper formats or those that require multiple tight ends to be started.

Lawrence Cager TE | WAS
Lawrence Cager: Out in Washington
Cager was cut from the Commanders' practice squad Wednesday.
The 28-year-old tight end from Georgia inked a deal to return to the Commanders' practice squad after failing to make the initial 53-man roster in late August. However, it now appears Washington has decided to move in another direction. Cager's most recent in-game NFL action came with the Giants in 2023, when he made 11 appearances and caught four of five targets for 36 yards and a touchdown.
-
Dawson Knox TE | BUF
Bills' Dawson Knox: Two catches against Ravens
Knox caught both of his targets for 20 yards in Sunday's 41-40 win over the Ravens.
Knox led all Bills tight ends in offensive snaps, but, as expected, it was teammate Dalton Kincaid who played a bigger role in Buffalo's passing attack. Knox wasn't able to get much going, while Kincaid caught all four of his targets for 48 yards and a touchdown. Going forward, the veteran should expect similar usage, capping Knox's overall fantasy value. The 28-year-old should be ignored for fantasy purposes heading into a Week 2 matchup against the Jets.

Mike Gesicki TE | CIN
Bengals' Mike Gesicki: One grab in win
Gesicki caught one of three targets for 14 yards in Sunday's 17-16 win over the Browns.
Gesicki's quiet start to the season was overshadowed by teammate Noah Fant, as the latter finished the contest with four catches on five targets for 26 yards and a touchdown. The veteran tight end played just 16 of Cincinnati's 52 offensive snaps, behind both Fant (26) and Drew Sample (36). Gesicki should continue to see limited opportunities in the Bengals' passing attack, all but removing him completely from fantasy consideration going forward. The 29-year-old will have his next opportunity to get involved when the Bengals host the Jaguars in Week 2.
